Design and Control of a Marine Satellite Antenna

  • A three axes marine satellite antenna has been developed. As a design step, a CAD model for the antenna has been created according to the design requirements. Kinematic analyses are carried out to insure design specification and to check collision detection of the CAD model. Marine satellite antennas experience base motions, and a relevant control system should control the three antenna axis to point to the satellites accurately. A sensor fusion algorithm and a PIDA (Proportional, Integral, Derivative, Acceleration) control algorithm are designed and implemented to control the yaw, level, and cross-level angle of a small size satellite marine antenna. Antenna stabilization control experiments are performed using a test simulator which gives the antenna base motions. Experimental results show small pointing errors, which is less than 0.2 degree for the level, cross-level, and yaw axis.

  • A crane is very important mechanical systems in industrial applications to move huge objects. Especially, in marine port terminals, it is used to place container boxes at desired position within given operating time. However, such system is faced with environmental disturbance such as wind from the sea, thus crane control system is required to cope with this nature. This paper proposed robust and adaptive control algorithm of a complicated 3D crane against the environmental disturbance. We simplify a mathematical design procedure to derive our control algorithm. We conduct real-time experiment using a crane simulator to evaluate its superiority and reliability.

부도수도 항로 개선에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Improvement of the Channel of Pudo-Sudo in Chinhae Man)

  • This study aims at improving the channel of Pudo-sudo in Chinhae-Man according to the development project of the port of Masan, by investigating the design criteria of harbour facilities for the maximum sized ship. The new deep-water route was proposed and according to it the present separation scheme was adjusted appropriately. The width of the deep-water route is suggested to be 350m and would be wide enough for the 30,000 DWT container ship to go through However, the proposed channel will be tested and validated by the shiphandling simulator.

  • To develope the new simulator for the analysis of fluid flow information, the influence of various convective difference schemes were evaluated. General curvilinear coordinate system with nonorthogonal grids was adopted for the successful analysis of various complex geometries. Computation results show that if we can not obtain full grid numbers within available computational environment, we need to use higher order finite difference schemes to keep the prediction accuracy.

  • This paper aims to simulate by FDS(Fire Dynamics Simulator) the distributions of temperature and smoke on fires in accommodations on boards. The paper focuses on analysis of temperature at fire occurrence and soot density. The purpose of this study is to predict the possibility of safe escape and efficient fire extinguishing method using fire simulation results.

  • 이 논문에서는 가상현실로 잘 알려진 인간과 컴퓨터 상호 작용에서의 3차원 음장 재생을 위한 요소 기술을 논하였다. 이 연구의 목적은 가상 공간과 같은 가상 환경을 갖는 선박 조종 시뮬레이터의 구현 가능성을 검토하는데 있다. 이 연구에서는 머리 전달 함수(HRTF)를 이용한 3차원 음장 재생에서의 몇가지 핵심 기술을 고찰하고, 필터 탭수를 줄이기 위한 방법과 3차원 음장에서의 불연속 영역을 보간하기 위한 방법을 기술하였다.

  • 본 연구에서는 수중청소로봇의 추종 성능과 통합 제어시스템 성능을 가시적으로 예측할 수 있는 3차원 시뮬레이터를 개발하였다. 수중청소로봇의 동역학적 해석을 기반으로, 시뮬레이터에는 실제 개발 중인 3차원형상의 수중청소로봇을 적용하고 로봇의 위치와 속도 등을 나타내는 창을 표시하였다. 또한 조이스틱을 사용하는 입력 및 제어 장치를 직접 제작하여 시리얼 통신을 통하여 시뮬레이터의 입력 및 제어에 사용하였다. 그리고 통합 항법 제어시스템을 설계하고, PI 기반의 퍼지 제어기를 포함하는 way-point tracking 시뮬레이션을 통하여 성능을 검증하였다.

  • It is requested to be evaluated whether environmental change in marine traffic passage by maintenance work affect ship handling, safety, when re-design of traffic passage is planned. In the maintenance work, it is also important to evaluate the change of risk and also benefits. However, in a current evaluation index, it is difficult to evaluate the benefit. The recently developed safety index that is led by employing the Unsafe Ship-handling situations model (US-model) is able to estimate risk level of marine accident in a process of a ship handling. We have already reported the relation of the ratio of 10-3 in harbors (Yokohama, Kobe, and Osaka in Japan) [1]. In this study, we acquired the relation of the ratio between the US value and the marine accident at a narrow waterway; Kurushima Strait in Japan, using a ship handling simulator. And we experimented to estimate a marine accident reduction achieved by the maintenance work of the altered shape of passage.

선원 교육의 국제적 동향과 우리의 대책 - 어선원을 중심으로 - (International Tendency of Seamen's Education and our Counter-plan for it - with fishing vessel personnel as the central figure -)

  • Since the STCW-F convention was adopted, The states concerned, has been investigated in many ways to adopt the prevailing circumstance and condition, accordingly, all preparation will be provided to accept the STCW-F convention to promote the safety of life and prevention of pollution. Prior to enter into force of this convention, we have to investigate the matter of policies, and must have great international concern to the seamen's education. Especially, we should discuss functional skill and knowledge matrix of fishing vessel seamen's education with the supplementary studies, and therefore, we should reflect to the contents, methods of education, inducement of advanced technics, application of education all aids to meet the acceptance of STCW-F convention. Also, we are attempt to implement to accept high quality of fishing vessel seamen's education as the application of simulator and any other advanced devices in future.
