  • An algorithm using topological mapping has been developed for a real-time detection of the QRS complexes of ECG signals. As a measurement of QRS complex energy, we used topological mapping from one dimensional sampled ECG signals to two dimensional vectors. These vectors are reconstructed with the sampled ECG signals and the delayed ones. In this method, the detection rates of CRS complex vary with the parameters such as R-R interval average and peak detection threshold coefficient. We use mean, median, and iterative method to determint R-R interval average and peak estimation. We experiment on various value of search back coefficient and peak detection threshold coefficient to find optimal rule.

  • Image morphing deals with the metamorphosis of one image into another. The field morphing depends on the manual work for most of the process, where a user has to designate the control lines. It takes time and requires skills to have fine quality results. It is an object of this paper to propose a method capable of realizing the semi-automation of field morphing using adaptive vertex correspondence based on image segmentation. The adaptive vertex correspondence process efficiently generates a pair of control lines by adaptively selecting reference partial contours based on the number of vertices that are included in the partial contour of the source morphing object and in the partial contour of the destination morphing object, in the pair of the partial contour designated by external control points through user input. The proposed method generates visually fluid morphs and warps with an easy-to-use interface. According to the proposed method, a user can shorten the time to set control lines and even an unskilled user can obtain natural morphing results as he or she designates a small number of external control points.

  • Lane keeping assist and departure prevention system are the key functions of ADAS. In this paper, we propose lane detection method which uses Gaussian function based RANSAC. The proposed method consists mainly of IPM (inverse perspective mapping), Canny edge detector, and Gaussian function based RANSAC (Random Sample Consensus). The RANSAC uses Gaussian function to extract the parameters of straight or curved lane. The proposed RANSAC is different from the conventional one, in the following two aspects. One is the selection of sample with different probability depending on the distance between sample and camera. Another is the inlier sample score that assigns higher weights to samples near to camera. Through simulations, we show that the proposed method can achieve good performance in various of environments.

  • The denoising mapping with the closest-neighbor clustering (CNC) method in denoise-and-forward two-way relay channels is studied. Specifically, the symmetry of the constellations in source terminals A and B is utilized to reduce the complexity of the CNC method. The specific case considered first to illustrate how the constellation symmetry works in the CNC method is the quadrature phase-shift keying constellation in A and B and the single-antenna deployment in all terminals. This case study shows that an enormous complexity reduction can be achieved. Next, the result is extended to multiple-antenna scenarios and square quadrature amplitude modulations.

  • There are two representative geometry rendering methods. One is Geometry Clipmaps, another is ROAM 2.0. We propose an extended Geometry Clipmaps algorithm which does not focus on CPU operation but the GPU for faster and wider visibility area. The extended algorithm presents mesh configuration method of each level by LOD, how to configurate Mesh network between levels, mesh block method for rendering optimization using VFC, and image mapping method to get high resolution up to 1 m.

  • A method for mapping quantitative trait loci (QTL) was introduced incorporating the information of mixed progeny from complex pedigrees. The method consisted of two steps based on single marker analysis. The first step was to examine the marker-trait association with a mixed model considering common environmental effect and reversed QTL-marker linkage phase. The second step was to estimate QTL effects by a weighted least square analysis. A simulation study indicated that the method incorporating mixed progeny from multiple generations improved the accuracy of QTL detection. The influence of within-genotype variance and recombination rate on QTL analysis was further examined. Detecting a QTL with a large within-genotype variance was more difficult than with a small within-genotype variance. Most of the significant marker-QTL association was detectable when the recombination rate was less than 15%.

  • This paper proposes a new modeling method for estimating the impedance of an on-chip power/ground meshed plane. Frequency dependent R, L, and C parameters are extracted based on the proposed method so that the model can be applied from DC to high frequencies. The meshed plane model is composed of two parts: coplanar multi strip (CMS) and conductor-backed CMS. The conformal mapping technique and the scaled conductivity concept are used for accurate modeling of the CMS. The developed microstrip approach is applied to model the conductor-backed CMS. The proposed modeling method has been successfully verified by comparing the impedance of RLC circuit based on extracted parameters and the simulated impedance using a 3D-field solver.

  • Liquefaction hazard caused by earthquake is the damage in a wide range. Until now, liquefaction hazard potential at a small area or most structure in Korea was assessed by modified Seed & Idriss method. However, it has been known that this method is not proper for metropolitan area due to a lot of time and data to perform the related ground response analyses such as Shake program. For these reasons, the current method has been used facilities or structures, not metropolitan area. In this study, several contents in seismic design of Eurocode and Korean seismic design standard for Port and Harbor were introduced and applied for assessing the liquefaction potential and mapping the liquefaction hazard by LPI(Liquefaction Potential Index). Finally, Ulsan metropolitan city was practically drawn in two dimensional space.

  • We formulate a mathematical model of remanufacturing system as multi-stage reverse Logistics Network Problem (mrLNP) with minimizing the total costs for reverse logistics shipping cost and inventory holding cost at disassembly centers and processing centers over finite planning horizons. For solving this problem, in the 1st and the 2nd stages, we propose a Genetic Algorithm (GA) with priority-based encoding method combined with a new crossover operator called as Weight Mapping Crossover (WMX). A heuristic approach is applied in the 3rd stage where parts are transported from some processing centers to one manufacturer. Computer simulations show the effectiveness and efficiency of our approach. In numerical experiments, the results of the proposed method are better than pnGA (Prufer number-based GA).
