  • One of the major problems comparing the old map, Daedongyojido, with modern maps in order to measure the spatial error of the map it a projection of the modern map selected. This study focuses on the map projection of Daedongyojido. Three different approaches are used: comparing the spatial pattern of Daedongyojido with maps of different projection, examining materials related to old maps and books which were written by Jeongho Kim directly or indirectly, and the data sets which were available at the mid nineteenth century and could be used for map production. A couple of map projections are possible to that of Daedongyojido, but TM(Transverse Mercator) projection is one of the closest projections.

  • Many kinds of map projection have been used, since this cannot be done without a distortion and seemless representation of the globe. To overcome the continues representation of large digital terrain information by the global coordinate system , to find out the sources of projection error and optimizing method, and to increase the map accuracy, specific map projection researches are needed. In this study, improvements of map projections are suggested for small scale mapping which covering entire Korean peninsula based on theoretical evaluation and limits of current map projection. Furthermore, distortion factors, positional errors, and accuracy increasing method are evaluated.

  • Small-scale maps currently used are made by scanning and editing printed maps and its shortcoming is accumulated errors at the time of editing and low accuracy. TM projection method is used but its accuracy varies. In addition, small-scale maps are made without consideration of usability and compatibility with other scale maps. Therefore, it is necessary to suggest projection and coordinates system improvement methods in consideration of usability and compatibility between data. The results of this study reveal that in order to make the optimum small-scale map, projection that fits the purpose of map usage in each scale, coordinate system and neat line composition should be selected in consideration of interrelation and compatibility with other maps. Conic projection should be used to accurately illustrate the entire country, but considering usability and compatibility with other maps, traversing cylindrical projection should be used instead of conic projection. For coordinates system of the small-scale map, Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM-K) based on the World Geodetic System should be used instead of conventional longitude and latitude coordinate system or Transverse Mercator.

  • Much information on the terrain and the space has been depicted to maps of various form according to the map scale and the application. In Korea the base map system was made by only one projection method(Transvers Mercator projection). This is the reason to study this paper, because I think singular map projection method can't satisfy the various map scales and application. In this paper Meridian Are Length, Parallel Are Length of ellipsoid and the area of ellipsoidal surface-the length, the width and area of the map scale 1/5,000, 1/25,000, 1/5,000, 1/1,000, will be calculated and transformed to the plane length and area by Transvers Mercartor projection and Polyhedrical projection. The projection distortion which came into existence on this occasion was compared and analyzed by this Paper. And Properties on TM and Polyhedrical projection were understood. Lastly this paper intended to present suitable map projections according to the map scales and the purpose of use.

  • This paper proposes a method for identification of harmful video images based on the degree of harmfulness in the video content. To extract harmful candidate frames from the video effectively, we used a video color extraction method applying a projection map. The procedure for identifying the harmful video has five steps, first, extract the I-frames from the video and map them onto projection map. Next, calculate the similarity and select the potentially harmful, then identify the harmful images by comparing the similarity measurement value. The method estimates similarity between the extracted frames and normative images using the critical value of the projection map. Based on our experimental test, we propose how the harmful candidate frames are extracted and compared with normative images. The various experimental data proved that the image identification method based on the 2-dimensional projection map is superior to using the color histogram technique in harmful image detection performance.

  • In this paper, we propose an artificial neural network framework that can represent the foam effects expressed in liquid simulation in detail without noise. The position and advection of foam particles are calculated using the existing screen projection method, and the noise problem that appears in this process is solved through an proposed artificial neural network. The important thing in the screen projection approach is the projection map, but noise occurs in the projection map in the process of projecting momentum into the discretized screen space, and we efficiently solve this problem by using an artificial neural network-based denoising network. When the foam generating area is selected through the projection map, 2D is inversely transformed into 3D space to generate foam particles. We solve the existing denoising network problem in which small-scaled foam particles disappear. In addition, by integrating the proposed algorithm with the screen-space projection framework, all the advantages of this approach can be accommodated. As a result, it shows through various experiments whether it is possible to stably represent not only the clean foam effects but also the foam particles lost due to the denoising process.

  • The choice of map projection method is depend on the desired map purpose because there is no best projection for maps. Previous projection decisions for published paper maps are not necessarily the right decisions for corresponding digital maps. The map grid and index system is simpler than projection system but it can be easily understanded by general users. In this study, through the study for the grid and index systems of the digital and paper map in our and other countries, I suggested the improvement plan on the problems of our digital map. New grid and index system of this paper are presented on behalf of digital geospatial data which as digital topographic map, digital elevation model and other digital maps.

  • A complete open manifold with nonnegative curvature is diffeomorphic to the normal bundle of the soul, and the projection map is a Riemannian submersion. Under certain circumstances, we prove that a harmonic map from a compact manifold followed by the projection is again harmonic. Therefore we obtain a harmonic map onto the soul when there is a harmonic map into an open manifold.

  • In Korea, map coordinates has been confused in use since the map projection system has been complicated by using two different methods i.e., Gauss conformal double projection and Gauss-Kruger projection which are com-plicated in using through history. So, we have to understand the two projections' characteristics and differences. In this study, we would find out a fact that the maximum difference occurred in longitude and latitude is about 15cm at the Korean peninsular. This shift is accepted as proper in GIS and cartographic application but should be considered carefully in converting of the geodetic control point coordinates.

  • A reliable analysis of consumer preference from a large amount of purchase data acquired in real time and an accurate customer characterization technique are essential for successful direct marketing campaigns. In this study, an optimal segmentation of post office customers in Korea is performed using a subspace projection-based clustering method to generate an accurate customer characterization from a high-dimensional census dataset. Moreover, a traditional temporal mining method is extended to an algorithm using the MapReduce framework for a consumer preference analysis. The experimental results show that it is possible to use parallel mining through a MapReduce-based algorithm and that the execution time of the algorithm is faster than that of a traditional method.
