  • When designing an engine part the designer has to choose the proper material and to define the dimensions of the part. in the most rudimentary case he has available as guidelines the collective experience from similar applications. The performance of the part is tested on occasion of the trial runs for the full system, and possibly occurring deficiencies are corrected until a satisfactory usable life and safety of operation is achieved. This procedure is time consuming and costly, and the learning effect is minimal. These requirements have to be condensed into characteristic values ameanable to computation. Since testing and computation are complementary we have to look at the currently existing mathematical models for engine bearing performance.

  • 최근 제조환경은 다양한 소비자의 요구, 제품의 짧은 수명 주기, 치열한 국내외 경쟁 등으로 특징 지워진다. 이러한 제조환경에 적응하기 위하여 FMS(flexible manufacturing systems)에서 기계의 종류는 다기능 공작기계(versatile machine)로 구성되고, 공구는 빠른 공구 이동장치(tool delivery system)에 의하여 제어되는 추세에 있다. 공구 이동장치를 이용하여 가공 중에 필요한 공구를 다른 기계 또는 공구 저장장치로부터 공급하는 동적 공구할당 전략하의 FMS 에서는 공구의 가용여부(작업 일정계획)를 고려한 작업순서 결정이 중요한 문제이다. 본 연구에서는 동적 공구할당 전략하의 FMS 에서 한 부품 또는 한 셋업에서 공구대기시간을 줄이는 방향으로 공구할당을 수행하는 작업순서 알고리즘을 제안하고, 시뮬레이션 실험을 통하여 다른방법으로 공구할당을 수행하는 알고리즘과 비교함으로써 본 작업순서 알고리즘의 우수성을 입증한다.

  • Smart UAV, which adopting tiltrotor aircraft concept, requires long endurance and high speed capability simultaneously These two contradictable flight performances are hard to meet with single wing concept and inevitably require the operation of flap system which should reveal optimal performance for each flight mode. In order to design SUAV flaperon satisfying the performance requirement, various configurations are generated and their aerodynamic performances are analyzed using numerical flow computations around flaps. Considering aerodynamic performance and manufacturing simplicity, a final flap configuration is selected.

  • For the net shape manufacturing, grinding is a important process that influences directly the accuracy and the integrity of products. We studied and researched the grinding force, surface roughness, and grinding wheel durability, according to the change of a feed speed of the table and a depth of the cut step by step with experiment that it is used to WA wheel. Workpiece materials were used STDII. The purpose of this study proposes the basic data for design of the machine tool and for controlling the machining parameters to obtain optimum performance of plunge grinding system during operation.

  • The enterprise find a solution to the problems such as a reduction of manufacturing period, accurate analysis for customer demand, improvement for customer service and rise of manufacture accomplishment. Internet is a good solution to such problems. Internet offers WWW(World Wide Web), remote control, file transfer and e-mail service. Among the services, WWW takes large portion because of convenient GUI, easy information search and unlimited information registration. Remote Monitoring Server(RMS) system that uses network service is constructed for chip mounter. Hardware base consists of RMS, chip mounter and C/S(Customer Service) server. Software includes DBMS and various modules in server home page. This provide product number, bad product number, trouble code, content and countermeasure in real-time information module, user information in setup module, detailed error information in fault diagnosis module, fault history in fault history module and customer information in customer service management module.

  • In surface grinding, the conditions of the grinding wheel give a significant effect on the ground workpieces comparing with other metal removal processes. In this paper, to assist the development, a non-contacting optical method is introduced to make in-process measurements of scattering intensities from laser beam during surface grinding processes. This show indications of changes in surface texture of wheel working surfaces. Also, in order to determine the dressing time monitoring method of grinding wheel in surface grinding, a three-dimensional computer simulation of the grinding operation has been attempted based on the contact mechanism and surface-shaping system between the grinding wheel and the workpiece. The optical dressing time is determined based on the amount of the grain wear and work surface roughness.

  • This paper deals with condition monitoring for tool wear during tuning operation. To develop economic sensing and identification methods for turning processes, sound pressure measurement and digital signal processing technique are proposed. To identify noise sources of tool wear and reject background noise, noise rejection methodology is proposed. features to represent condition of tool wear are obtained through analysis using adaptive filter and FFT in time and frequency domain. By using fuzzy pattern recognition, we extract features, which are sensitive to condition of tool wear, from several features and make a decision on tool wear. The validity of the proposed system is condirmed through the large number of cutting tests in two cutting conditions.

  • A fundamental study for developing a system of fault diagnosis of a pump is performed by using neural network. The acoustic signals were obtained and converted to frequency domain for normal products and artificially deformed products. The signals were obtained in various driving frequencies in order to obtain many types of data from a limited number of pumps. The acoustic data in frequency domain were managed to multiples of real driving frequency with the aim of easy comparison. The neural network model used in this study was 3-layer type composed of input, hidden, and output layer. The normalized amplitudes at the multiples of real driving frequency were chosen as units of input layer. Various sets of teach signals made from original data by eliminating some random cases were used in the training. The average errors were approximately proportional to the number of untaught data. The results showed neural network trained by acoustic signals can be used as a simple method for a detection of machine malfuction or fault diagnosis.

  • We should maintain the minimum operation capacity for production facilities and find properly out the fault of each equipment rapidly in order to decrease a loss caused by its failure. The acoustic signals of a machine always carry the dynamic information of the machine. These signals are very useful for the feature extraction and fault diagnosis. We performed a fundamental study which develops a system of fault diagnosis for a pump. We obtained noises by a microphone, analysed and compared the signals converted to frequency range for normal products, artificially deformed products. We tried to search a change of noise signals according to machine malfunctions and analyse the type of deformation or failure. The results showed that acoustic signals as well as vibration signals can be used as a simple method for a detection of machine malfunction or fault diagnosis.

  • This study aims to examine the relationship between total quality management(TQM) practices and operational performance perceived by employees who are in different functional organization types, R&D function and Non-R&D function organization in manufacturing companies. Operational performance is defined as the degree of operation efficiency in the perspective of quality, delivery, and cost. Our study showed that the significant elements of TQM practice were different depending on functional organization types. In case of R&D organization, the categories of customer focus and process management were the strongest significant predictors of operational performance. Therefore, the optimal TQM practices for R&D organization can be obtained in consideration of customer focus and process management.
