Point of Production/Manufacturing Execution Systems are an essential component of operations in today's competitive business environments, which require greater production efficiency and effectiveness. POP/MES focuses on the valuing-adding processes, helping to reduce manufacturing cycle time, improve product quality, reduce WIP, reduce or eliminate paperwork between shifts, reduce lead time and empowering plant operations staff. In this paper, we implement POP/MES to manage real-time plant floor data which is gathered by I/O server into database management system. I/O server is a software allows data exchange between factory real-time database and several hardware devices such as PLC, DCS, robot and sensor through ethernet TCP/IP protocol.

Through process quality information, the time required for process quality analysis has been drastically shortened, the process defect rate has been reduced, and the manufacturing lead time has been shortened and the on-time delivery rate has been improved. Therefore, The purpose of this study is to develop a quality information analysis system model that effectively shortens the time required for process quality analysis in automobile safety belt parts manufacturing process. As a result of experiments on communication operation between manufacturing execution system (MES) quality server, injection machine control computer, injection machine programmable logic controller (PLC) and terminal, in analyzing quality information, the conventional handwriting input method took an average of 20 minutes, but the new multi-network method took about 2 minutes on average. In addition, the process defect rate was reduced by 13% and the manufacturing lead time was shortened from 28 hours to 20 hours. The delivery compliance rate improved from 96 to 99%.

This study was carried out to develop an efficient plant growth system that can be controlled by altering the wavelength and illumination using a LED module. If it is possible to develop a system that can be controlled in this manner, utilizing different characteristics in the meaningful wavelength band depending on the growth time or type of plant, the plant growth conditions can be optimized. In order to this, red, green, blue and white LEDs are arrayed in a rectangle, consisting of LED modules which can be combined with each other. Consequently, the array can be used to select the optimal light conditions with monochromatic red, green, blue and white LEDs, or mixed LEDs, for plant growth. Experiments on the characteristics of the wavelengths to evaluate the efficiency of the plant growth system were performed. The usefulness of the system was demonstrated through a cultivation test involving several special plants.
This paper reviews and identifies issues in the application of virtual commissioning technology for automated manufacturing systems. While the real commissioning of a manufacturing system involves a real plant system and a real controller, the virtual commissioning deals with a virtual plant model and a real controller. The expected benefits of virtual commissioning are the reduction of debugging and correction efforts during the subsequent real commissioning stage. However, it requires a virtual plant model and hence still requires significant amount time and efforts. Two main issues are identified, the physical model construction of a virtual device, and the logical model construction of a virtual device. This paper reviews the current literature related to the two issues and proposes future research directions to achieve the full utilization of virtual commissioning technology.

Virtual manufacturing is a technology facilitating effective development and agile manufacturing of products via sophisticated computer models representing physical and logical schema and behavior of real manufacturing systems including manufacturing resources, environments, and products. For the successful application of this technology, a virtual plant as a well-designed and integrated environment is essential fur sharing information and engineering collaboration among diverse engineering activities. The systematic approaches and effective methods for construction and application of a virtual plant are proposed in this paper, such as a 3-D CAD modeling, cell and line simulations, databases and some information technologies. Measuring and 3-D CAD modeling technologies of many equipments, facilities and structures of the building are developed, and effective information management system managing CAD models, related files and data is implemented in WWW environments. Finally, precise simulations of unit cell lines and the whole plant are performed. For the beginning of implementing a Virtual Automotive Plant, the Virtual Plant fur the Body Shop of a Korean automotive company is constructed and implemented. We could obtain the benefit of savings in time and cost in many manufacturing preparation activities in the new car development processes.

In order to secure manufacturing competitiveness of offshore plants, piping process is one of the most important processes. This study is about the design of management system for piping materials manufacturing of the offshore plant. As a result of the study, we analyzed the system and algorithms needed for the processing of piping material products and designed the structure of the entire management system. We conducted a process analysis of the design, manufacturing and installation processes. And also we proposed a system structure to improve the various problems that have come out. We also proposed an algorithm to determine the delivery order of the pipe spools, and proposed a raw material management system for the manufacturing of the pipe spools. And we designed a manufacturing process management system to manage the risk of pipe materials delivery. And finally we proposed a data structure for the installation process management system. The data structures and algorithms were actually implemented, and applied the actual process data to verify the effect of the system.
The following study has been undertaken to build QIP (Quality Improvement Process) of an inner-layer process in a PCB (Printed Circuit Board) manufacturing plant. The objective of the study is stabilization and optimization of the process through quality improvement. To do that, defective factors in process are gathered by the cause and effect analysis and classified by PFD (Process Flow Diagram), key factors are found out by PFMECA (Process Failure Mode and Effect Criticalty Analisis), DOE(Design of Experiments) is a, pp.ied to those key factors to optimize the process, SPC (Statistical Process Control) chart is used to maintain the optimal conditions of the process and to improve quality continuously, and a quality management system is developed to improve quality mind and quality system for the PCB jmanufacturing plant. Overall, QIP is established to improve quality for the PCB manufacturing plant in the study.

Domestic power plants have consistently been developed over the years in industrially developed nations with high standards of living. Considering the power plant development strategy, design efficiency is of upmost importance. Therefore, an improper design directly affects the power plant's risk management plan and the potential risks of the piping system. Therefore, in this study, research is intended to be carried out to allow efficient power plant operation, through optimization of the design of the piping system. The purpose of the study is to confirm economic feasibility by changing the piping loop design, expanding the length of pipe loops, and to investigate the thermal stress influence on the piping system through simulations of systems similar in condition to those currently used in existing plants in Korea.
This paper outlines opportunities and challenges in the implementation of BPEL based WFMS(WorkFlow Management System) for the MES(Manufacturing Execution Systems) in semiconductor manufacturing. At present, the most MESs in semiconductor wafer fabrication shop have the problems in terms of application software integration, reactivity, and adaptability. When a plant has to produce new product mix, remodel the manufacturing execution process, or replace obsolete equipments, the principal road blocks for responding to new manufacturing environment are the difficulties in porting existing application software to new configurations. In this paper, the issues about WFMS technologies including BPEL standard applied for MES are presented. And then, we introduce the integrated development framework named nanoFlow which is optimized for developing the BPEL based WFMS application for automated manufacturing system. And we describe a WFMS implemented with using nanoFlow framework, review and evaluate the system.

The manufacturing industries which played a major role in the rapid economic growth and industrialization of Korea in the late 20th century had considerable difficulties changing their manufacturing conditions from producer-oriented conditions to customer-oriented ones according to market changes. In this study, increase plant efficiency because grafts together modular system to plant layout and analyzes Work In Process(WIP) between product's cycle time and each process, family efficient plan wishes to choose opposite bank. Simulation approach used for presented methodology The effect will not gain the results for other reasons the inherent conditions of companies, people, and culture which have been hitherto described, but will be expected to help the direction for a new Lay-out production system to reflect on the native conditions rather than fixed technological means and methods in way of an analysis of fundamental problems which small and medium companies in Korea face.
