  • In this paper, a new detection scheme, the detectable maneuver set (DMS) scheme, is proposed by incorporating the trade-off property between target maneuver magnitude and detection time delay. With this new detection scheme, small maneuvers can be effectively detected without enlarging window size. Simulation results show that the proposed DMS scheme gives better tracking performance.

  • We presents a modified variable dimension filter with input estimation for maneuvering target tracking. The conventional variable dimension filter with input estimation(VDIE) consists of the input estimation(IE) technique and the variable dimension(VD) filter. In the VDIE, the IE technique is used for estimation of a maneuver onset time and its magnitude in the least square sense. The detection of the maneuver is declared according to the estimated magnitude of the maneuver. The VD filter structure is applied for the adaptation to the maneuver of the target after compensating the filter parameter with respect to the estimated maneuver when the detection of the maneuver is declared. The VDIE is known as one of the best maneuvering target tracking filter based on a single filter. However, it requires too much computational burden since the IE technique is performed at every sampling instance and thus it is computationally inefficient. We propose another variable dimension filter with input estimation named 'Modified VDIE' which combines VD filter with If technique. Modified VDIE has less computational load than the original one by separating maneuver detection and input estimation. Simulation results show that the proposed VDIE is more efficient and outperforms in terms of computational load.

  • 표적 추적에서 기동은 오랫동안 다루기 어려운 문제로 여겨져 왔다. 이러한 문제를 극복하기 위해 기동을 처리하는 여러 가지 기법들이 연구, 개발되었다. 그러나 이러한 기법들의 연구에 있어 지금까지 기동 검출 기준치의 변화에 대한 필터의 성능의 편차에 대한 연구는 이루어지지 않고 있어 가동에 따른 적절한 기동 검출 기준치의 설정이 객관적인 기준없이 이루어지고 있는 것이 현실이다. 본 논문에서는 가동 표적 추적용 필터에 있어 여러 가지 기동에 대해 기동 유무 검출 기준치의 변화가 필터에 미치는 영향을 알아보고, 이를 분석함으로써 기동과 기동탐지 기준치와 상관관계를 실험적으로 규명하였다.

  • In this paper, we are concerned with a maneuver detection algorithm which uses the 'lost' measurements down-sampled for computation load saving when a target is in quiescent motion. In general applications of estimation, measurements are available at a relatively high rate, while the estimation processing equipment can only operate at a lower sampling rate. Furthermore, when a target is in nearly quiescent motion, the update of the tracking filter need not to be implemented with maxim urn process power of the filter since the states of the target vary relatively slowly.   • Since the optimized use of sonar systems for target tracking is a practical problem for naval operations, the measure of mission achievability is needed for preparing efficient sonar-maneuver tactic. In order to quantify the mission achievability or Measure Of Effectiveness(MOE) for given sonar-maneuver tactics, we developed and tested a simulation algorithm. The proposed algorithm for tracking is based on Measure Of Performance(MOP) for localization and tracking system of sonar against target. Probability of Detection(PD) using steering beam patterns referenced to the aspect angle of sonar is presented to consider the tracking-performance of sonar. Also, the integrated software package, named as Optimal Acoustic Search Path Planning(OASPP) is used for generating sonar-maneuver patterns and vulnerability analysis for a given scenario. Through simulation of a simple case for which the intuitive solution is known, the proposed algorithm is verified.

  • An input estimation technique for tracking filter(CHP algorithm) suggested by Y.T. Chan et. al. has bad performance for low maneuvering targets. In this paper, two maneuver detection algorithms are applied to Singer's target model. First, an CHP input estimation technique is applied to 9 state target model. Second, we construct a maneuver detection and correction technique using pseudo acceleration measurements, which are derived directly from measurements. These two filters have good performance for even the low maneuvering targets.

An effective method for detecting satellite orbital maneuvers and its application to LEO satellites

  • This paper analyzes the possibilities of a new method to using TLE data for detecting satellite maneuvers. The method has a number of advantages over other methods that are designed to detect maneuvers. It allows not only to detect maneuvers, but also to get a more complete picture of the maneuver. In particular, the method makes it possible to estimate the moments of the beginning and end of the maneuver, calculate the changes in the orbital elements, evaluate the tangential and binormal components of the impulse, and finally, calculate the impulse of the satellite obtained as a result of the maneuver. To demonstrate in detail the capabilities of the algorithm, the proposed method was applied to one of LEO satellites - TIANHUI-1 satellite. After the efficiency of the method was proved, this method was applied to the China Space Station - TIANHE-1 (CSS), Starlink-1095 and Starlink-2305 satellites. The maneuvers of the CSS and Starlink-1095 satellite during their close encounter on 1 July, 2021, and the CSS and Starlink-2305 satellite during their close encounter on 21 October, 2021 are analyzed in detail. The minimum distances between the CSS and Starlink satellites at the moments of their maximum approaches are estimated. An estimate of the computation time of this algorithm is given, and the possibility of its use for monitoring maneuvers or other anomalous orbital changes of a large number of satellites in near real-time is shown. It is assumed that on the basis of this method, a service for monitoring satellite maneuvers can be created.

자유비행 다중 충돌회피 효율성 측정 연구 (Measurement of Multi Conflict Avoidance for Free flight Efficiency)

  • 본 논문에서는 자율형 운항 알고리즘을 활용하여 분리보증 해결과 충돌탐지거리와의 상관관계, 충돌회피 후 경로점 복귀와 시간제약 조건에 따른 항로 복귀, 3대 이상의 다중 충돌회피 상황의 분리보증 실험을 수행하여 운항환경에서 발생하는 실증적인 문제를 규명하였다. 실험결과 자유비행 충돌회피를 위하여 탐지거리 확대가 분리보증 해결과 운항 효율성 향상에 유리하며, 충돌회피 후 복귀기동 시 충돌예측상황에 따라 고정 경로점 복귀 또는 시간제약 조건을 적용한 항로 복귀기동을 선택할 수 있었다. 그리고 다중 충돌 상황에서 2도 이상의 선회각을 적용하면 분리보증 해결되었고, 최적의 선회각 선택 시에는 운항 효율성을 대폭 향상시킬 수 있었다.

  • The phased array antenna has the ability to perform adaptive sampling by directing the radar beam without inertia in any direction. The adaptive sampling capability of the phased array antenna allows each sampling time interval to be varied for each target, depending on the acceleration of each target at any time. In this paper we design a three-dimensional adaptive tracking algorithm for the phased array radar system with a given set of measurement parameters. The tracking algorithm avoids taking unnecessarily frequent samples, while keeping the angular prediction error within a fraction of antenna beamwidth so that the probability of detection will not be degraded during a track update illuminations. In our algorithm, the target model and the sampling rate are selected depending on the target range and the target maneuver status which is determined by a maneuver detector. A detailed simulation is conducted to test the validity of our tracking algorithm for encounter geometries under various conditions of maneuver.

  • An enhancement of the probabilistic data association filter is presented for tracking a single maneuvering target in clutter environment. The use of the variable dimensional structure leads the probabilistic data association filter to adjust to real motion of a target. The detection of the maneuver for the model switching is performed by the acceleration estimates taken from a bias estimator of the two stage Kalman filter. The proposed algorithm needs low computational power since it is implemented with a single filtering procedure. A simple Monte Carlo simulation was performed to compare the performance of the proposed algorithm and the IMMPDA filter.
