  • Purpose - This study was to empirically validate the mediating roles of psychological ownership and learning goal orientation in the relationships of managerial coaching behaviors and organizational citizenship behaviors/creative behaviors of employees. Research design, data, and methodology - A total of 270 employees in the Korean distribution industry were surveyed on-line, and the results were analyzed using confirmatory factor analysis and structural equational modeling. Results - The study confirmed prior research results that managerial coaching behaviors were related positively to employees' psychological ownership and learning goal orientation, both of which were associated positively with their organizational citizenship behaviors and creative behaviors respectively. It revealed the complete mediating effect of psychological ownership between managerial coaching and organizational citizenship behaviors and that of learning goal orientation between managerial coaching and creative behaviors. Conclusions - Psychological ownership was found to play an important role in the relationship between managerial coaching behaviors and organizational citizenship behaviors. It gives some practical implication regarding the higher turn-over intention rate of the distribution industry, in that promoting psychological ownership through managerial coaching behaviors could reduce the turn-over intention rate.

  • This study was conducted to investigate the effects of the entrepreneurship and market orientation of franchisers on the boundary-spanning behavior of franchisees in food-service companies in the Yeongnam region. This study also investigated the relationship between the entrepreneurship and market orientation of franchisers and sought to identify the effect of the boundary-spanning behavior of franchisees on their managerial performance. Based on literature reviews, 4 hypotheses were tested. The subjects responding in this study were owners or managers of franchise restaurants in Youngnam province. A total of 605 questionnaires were analyzed using the factor analysis, a reliability test, and structural equation modeling analysis. The results revealed that first, the entrepreneurship and market orientation of franchisers were positively related to the boundary-spanning behaviors of franchisees, and secondly, the entrepreneurship of franchisers was positively related to their market orientation. Finally, the boundary-spanning behavior of franchisees was positively related to their managerial performance. Data were collected from 400 college students in Seoul by a self-administered questionnaire. Collected data were subjected to descriptive and comparative statistical analyses using the software SPSS(version 12.0). The conclusions of this study were as follows; 1. The use of time-matrix was categorized into 4 task groups: (1) not urgent but important, (2) urgent but notimportant, (3) neither urgent nor important, (4) urgent and important. 2. Time-management-behavior of planning was categorized into 3 components: standard setting, reality overlapping and implementing into 3 components(i.e., checking, adjusting, facilitating condition). 3. In all domains except overlapping, 'not urgent but importance' was the most popular managerial behavior. 4. However, 'neither urgent nor important' was voted the most popular in terms of managerial satisfaction. This study provides useful knowledge on managerial time-use categorization. Furthermore also contributes towards the knowledge base of time-managerial behaviors and dispels stereotypical-thinking that only bing busy all the time using is an indication of good time management behavior. Finally, this study advocates use of the time-matrix to achieve efficient time management.

  • The goal of this study is to see if there's a relationship between employees' ambidextrous behaviors and macro facilitators of organizational empowerment (such as control over workplace decisions, dynamic structural framework, and fluidity in information sharing) (exploration and exploitation). To acquire data, this study uses survey methods. A cross-sectional survey was done to collect information from academics at five large public sector universities in Pakistan's Balochistan province. Control over workplace decisions boosts academics' engagement in exploration and exploitation, while a dynamic structural framework merely increases their engagement in exploration, according to the findings based on data from 240 respondents (n = 240). The findings also show that information sharing flexibility has little effect on exploration and exploitation behaviors. In conclusion, the results of this study imply that organizational empowerment is critical for academics' ambidextrous behaviors to thrive. As a result, specific organizational facilitators of empowerment (such as control over workplace decisions and a dynamic structural framework) are advised in higher education institutions. This research is significant because it develops and tests a model that explains hitherto unexplored connections between macro facilitators of organizational empowerment and employees' ambidextrous behaviors. In addition, the research provides important insights for managerial practice and research.

  • It is assumed that employees' ethical judgements and attitudes in handling personal and organizational information differ, depending upon their hierarchical ranks in organizations and types of information. Therefore we investigated how differently employees at different ranks judge hypothetical behaviors(or situations); their manner of handling various types of information in their daily activities in business organizations. Sixteen hypotheses based on combinations of 3 ethical areas and 5 information types were developed and tested. We found that three management ranks have shown significantly different ethical attitude about i)the accessibility to strategic planning and managerial information and ii)the property of managerial, operational and informal information. This research can help organizations to design better education programs and ethical codes to guide employees who process sensitive information.

  • This study reviewed published studies on interventions used by hospitals, health insurance programs, or governments to improve use of medicines in foreign countries. Interventions to improve use of medicines are classified into two categories: 1) information strategies-dissemination of educational materials, group education, one-to-one educational outreach, drug utilization review, and feedback; 2) managerial strategies- formularies, prior authorization, and financial incentives. Dissemination of educational materials, which is a common intervention, was unsuccessful in changing physicians' prescribing behaviors. Problem-based small group education was more likely to change behaviors than didactic large group education. One-to-one educational outreach(academic detailing) was among the most effective strategies used to change prescribing behaviors. Prospective drug utilization review (DUR) program was more successful in improving use of medicines than retrospective DUR program. Feedback intervention has been reported to be ineffective to change behaviors. Formularies are frequently used to control medication use by most health insurance programs. Financial incentives provide physicians economic incentives according to appropriateness of prescribing. However, few published studies have assessed the efficacy of formularies or financial incentives. Prior authorization requires physicians to get authorization from health insurers before prescribing a certain group of drugs which is usually of high costs or risk. There is no magic bullet for quality use of medicines. Multifaceted interventions that help to predispose, enable, and reinforce desired behaviors are more likely to be successful.

  • Many companies are adopting performance measurement systems(PMS) in order to acquire competitive advantage the promote long-term growth in Coping with the rapidly changing business environment. Prior research has focused on the relation between PMS and organizational performance. However, there is limited empirical research that examines the behavioural consequences of PMS. Further, there is little empirical research that examines whether measurement diversity have direct and/or indirect effects on work performance.
