  • The Republic of Korea, ranked as the 5th military power according to the size of its ground troops, discharges more than 200,000 manpower to the society annually; more than 13,000 of them are officers. The re-employment rate of discharged military personnels, who experience early retirement of 5 to 15 years compared to general public officers, is very low, only amounting to 53.2%. On the other hand, major developed countries exhibit great national scale of effort to take responsibility in helping the settlement of the soldiers who have dedicated their career for their countries. The re-employment rate amounts to 94%. Fully acknowledging such disparity, this paper examines various policies on discharged members support of developed countries, and aims to suggest developmental model on employment support designed for discharged members in the Republic of Korea.

  • Today's firms exist and run business in an uncertain and rapidly changing environment in terms of industry, market, technology, economic conditions, and culture. To be competitive, at least to survive, firms must cope with and manage uncertainty effectively. In other words, firms should be equipped with powerful weapons to capture competitive advantage over their competitors. There are several ways for a firm to capture competitive edge over its competitors such as cost leadership, quality of the products and services, manpower, higher productivity, and technology. Among these, technology, especially information technology, could be the most effective weapon for competitive advantages since it is possible to monitor competitors' movement as well as to provide appropriate information with both planning and control phases through an information system. In this paper, a competitive weapon in action, a Process Control System which is developed by and installed at a U.S petroleum company would the described.

  • In these days many people have studied on the berthing problem. The operation rules differ from port so port and the problem is highly dependent on the environment of port. The purpose of this study is to develop a decision support system decision makers of the berthing problem for Inchon Port. The system is developed with graphic user interface(GUI) using user-interactive approach and some general and specific rules for Inchon Prot are considered. The system is composed of the following four parts ; the input/output part, the automatic berthing part by the system using rules, the manual berthing part by user, and the part for modifying results or handling exceptional events. The system is designed to assign ship to berths by matching the characteristics with environmental and operational constraints of Inchon Port. We expect that this system can provide decision makers with an efficient and fast way to berthing and can reduce wastes of time, space, and manpower in port operations.

  • In this paper, A web-based server system was developed based on PDA(Personal Digital Assistants) for controlling and managing light facilities on-line with wireless communication efficiently. The control box of current light facilities may be implemented based on simple operational function. The operational quality of the light facilities will be efficiently improved with some practical advantages such as reduction of required facility, manpower and time in managing the lights and control boxes by using the popular PDA.

  • Ten years have passed since the establishment of KOSHBA (Korea Small and medium enterprises Hybrid Business Association). KOSHBA is composed of over 400 regional groups; over 4,000 enterprises are participating in the association. This paper deals with a survey on the present status of the participating companies in HBA of Kangwon province including the motivation of participation, participating period, and the purpose of participation. The survey results show that they are participating in HBA for manpower interchange, information gathering, mutual utilization of management resources, and their company's growth. To become a dynamic and vital association, it is necessary to share, learn, and discuss their managerial problems based on mutual trust and respect at the regular monthly meeting.

  • This study is to review information retrieval techniques of VOCED database. The VOCED database contains internationally relevant information on vocational and adult education, training and related subjects. The software used is CDS/ISIS and the records are indexed using the APSDEP Thesaurus. When searching the VOCED database, various types of search techniques can be used. Multiple word, phrase, boolean logic, term truncation, defind field, and proximity searching techniques or a mixture of all of them, make it possible to find exactly what you want in seconds.

  • The purpose of this article is to diagnosis all aspects of waste pneumatic transportation system, in order to provide everyone interested in the subject with a optimal design and management of the system. The results of the analyzed inlet boxes were especially designed for customers' convenience and automatically operation, side air intake, ensure good wear. And key of pipelines were showed design standard as degree of an angle. Also, the system is mostly equipped with automatic control and watch conducted inside the waste collection facilities, and it will cut down excessive manpower and be able to be managed by least trained personnel.

  • Several algorithmic models have been proposed to estimate software cost and other management parameters. In particular, early prediction of completion time is absolutely essential for proper advance planning and a version of the possible ruin of a project. However, estimation is difficult because of its similarity to export judgment approaches and for its potential as an expert assistant in support of human judgment. Especially, the nature of the Norden/Rayleigh curve used by Putnam, renders it unreliable during the initial phases of the project, in projects involving a fast manpower buildup, as is the case with most software projects. Estimating software development effort is more complexity, because of infrastructure software related to target-machines hardware and process characteristics should be considered in software development for DCS (Distributed Control System). In this paper, we propose software development effort estimation technique using adaptive neural fuzzy inference system. The methods is applied to case-based projects and discussed.

  • The hacking accident is increasing repidly according to development of latest computer network and the method becomes various. But, to correspond to hacking, it is lot of difficulties to cope gear and security element between product because most radiant mercuries apply technology between individual digenomic species and It is real condition that great setup, equipment, manpower disturbance are enlarged to apply this. Designed and embody Site-Based executive system that can integrate security element about IDS information between digenomic species to solve these problem and correspond efficiently from hacking.

  • In this paper, we introduce a new technique for automatic construction of steel frames in high-rise buildings. Basically, we combine advanced robotic technologies to building construction techniques. Four main topics will be developed such as: 1) Planning and synthesis of automatic construction system, 2) Development of construction factory system with climbing oil-pressured robot, 3) Core techniques for automatic assembly for steel frames, and 4) Intelligent resource management system. We expect that this new technique will increase the construction efficiency and will alleviate the manpower shortage problem in the aging society.
