Henoch-Schonlein Purpura in Children Hospitalized at a Tertiary Hospital during 2004-2015 in Korea: Epidemiology and Clinical Management

  • Purpose: To investigate the epidemiology, clinical manifestations, investigations and management, and prognosis of patients with Henoch-Schonlein purpura (HSP). Methods: We performed a retrospective review of 212 HSP patients under the age of 18 years who were admitted to Inje University Sanggye Paik Hospital between 2004 and 2015. Results: The mean age of the HSP patients was 6.93 years, and the ratio of boys to girls was 1.23:1. HSP occurred most frequently in the winter (33.0%) and least frequently in the summer (11.3%). Palpable purpura spots were found in 208 patients (98.1%), and gastrointestinal (GI) and joint symptoms were observed in 159 (75.0%) and 148 (69.8%) patients, respectively. There were 57 patients (26.9%) with renal involvement and 10 patients (4.7%) with nephrotic syndrome. The incidence of renal involvement and nephrotic syndrome was significantly higher in patients with severe GI symptoms and in those over 7 years old. The majority of patients (88.7%) were treated with steroids. There was no significant difference in the incidence of renal involvement or nephrotic syndrome among patients receiving different doses of steroids. Conclusion: In this study, the epidemiologic features of HSP in children were similar to those described in previous studies, but GI and joint symptoms manifested more frequently. It is essential to carefully monitor renal involvement and progression to chronic renal disease in patients ${\geq}7$ years old and in patients affected by severe GI symptoms. It can be assumed that there is no direct association between early doses of steroids and prognosis.

The Antecedents of Site Trust and the Determinants of On-line Purchasing/Repurchasing Behavior : A Relationship Marketing Approach (사이트 신뢰형성과 온라인 구매/재구매 행위 결정요인에 관한 관계마케팅적 연구)

  • The exponential growth of the on-line shopping mall has been the advent of buying and selling products and services over the internet. In these circumstances, this paper presents the importance of understanding and managing the purchasing behavior of on-line shopping mall customers. The main purpose of this research is to find out the antecedents of customer trust and to conceptualize and investigate the relationship between endogenous mediating variables(such as customer trust, attitude, loyalty, relationship involvement) and purchasing and/or repurchasing intention in internet shopping mall. The empirical findings are as follows : First, the three antecedents of customer trust( EC system characteristics, psychological propensity, and trustworthiness) had the positive effects on the formation of site trust. Second, we found out that there were direct or indirect relationships between the mediating variables and on-line purchasing and/or repurchasing intention. In Particular, the direct effects of customer attitude on customer loyalty and buying intention were rejected, but the indirect effects through relationship involvement were accepted. This means that the relationship marketing is probably more important for the success of internet shopping mall Third, there were no direct relationship between the mediating variables and the repurchasing intention, but most researches in the brick and mortar, the proposition are supported. This implies that repurchasing intention was intensified by the indirect path, such as site trust $\longrightarroe$ attitude $\longrightarroe$ involvement $\longrightarroe$ loyalty $\longrightarroe$ purchasing intention $\longrightarroe$ repurchasing intention. So, the internet marketers must make an effort not only to strengthen the direct casual linkage between them but also to consolidate the indirect connections leading to boost purchasing and repurchasing intention.

The Effects of Consultant's Competency and Consultation Process on the Consulting Performance: The Mediating Role of Client's Involvement and Utilizing Willingness (컨설턴트역량과 수행과정이 컨설팅성과에 미치는 영향: 수진기업의 참여수준과 활용의지의 매개효과)

  • This paper aims to examine the mediating effects of client involvement and client utilizing willingness among consultant competency, consultation process and consulting performance. To accomplish the purpose, the analysis was conducted with 446 SMEs which had a consulting experience. The collected data were analyzed with SPSS and AMOS for Windows. This study used several statistical techniques such as descriptive analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, reliability analysis, feasibility analysis, Sobel test and the significance test of indirect effects. All studied factors presented meaningful results(+) except the path of consultant competency and client involvement. The client utilizing willingness presented the mediating role between consultation process and consulting performance. Consequently, it said that consultation process with client utilizing willingness was more important than consultant competency itself.

  • This study verified the effect of the application of National Competency Standard on job involvement. The study results showed that the application of National Competency Standard significantly affected Organizational Commitment(${\beta}=.583$, p<.001) and Job Performanc(${\beta}=.366$, p<.01). Spcecifically, the application of National Competency Standard in hiring process and developing ability significantly affected Organizational Commitment(p<.001), and the application of National Competency Standard in developing ability significantly affected Job Performance(p<.05). This study proved the validity and effectiveness of adopting National Competency Standard in human resource management by confirming the effect of the application of National Competency Standard on job involvement.

Attitude and Purchase Intent for Luxury Fashion Goods : Cultural Differences between Americans and Chinese

  • Expanding upon Zhang and Kim's (2013) study involving Chinese consumers, this study investigated key factors that influence U.S. consumers' attitude towards purchasing luxury fashion goods and purchase intent and examined what similarities and differences exist between the two consumer groups in relation to the key factors. A total of 414 respondents completed the online survey questionnaire. Structural Equation Modeling was utilized to analyze data. Brand consciousness, materialism, fashion innovativeness, and fashion involvement were significant factors that affect U.S. consumers' attitude towards luxury fashion goods. Overall, the findings of the current study were greatly inconsistent with Zhang and Kim's Chinese study. The inconsistency provides vital implications to luxury fashion retailers by showing that one size does not fit all and one strategy does not fit all markets.

  • The Internet has generated a number of online review sites where dissatisfied consumers can easily articulate their opinions and comments on products or services. Little attention, however, has been directed to investigating the relationship between negative electronic word-of-mouth (eWOM) and its critical determinants that affect consumers' purchasing behaviors. This study attempts to explore the influence of the key determinants of consumers' negative eWOM behaviors, including their social relationships online. The results show that tie strength is positively associated with the proposed determinants, such as information credibility, external search efforts, and product involvement. Further, we find that perceived risk plays a mediating role in the relationship between consumers' intention to spread eWOM and its key determinants.

  • The purpose of our research is to identify the critical variables and to develop a new methodology for market segmentation of online game market. Our research tested the model with Korean online game users because Korean online game industry is the frontier of global online game industries. Conclusively, the critical variables are the suitability of feedback, the reality of design, the precision of information and the involvement of virtual community. The analysis of segmentation shows that the primary target audiences are positively influenced by the reality of design and the involvement of virtual community. To attract the primary target audiences, online game companies should develop strategies depending on the effectiveness of the variables and the demographic and behavioral characteristics of target audiences.

The Effects of Decision-Making Situation In Ultimatum Game (최후통첩게임에서 의사결정 상황의 영향)

  • In the ultimatum game two players have to divide a certain amount of money between them. One player is the allocator and proposes a division of the money. The other is the recipient and can either accept or reject the proposed division. If the recipient accepts, the money is divided as proposed. If the recipient rejects, however, both players receive nothing. Purchase decisions could be classified on two basic factors (or dimensions) : involvement and think/feel in the FCB grid model. In this study we studied the influences of the two factors in purchase decisions on the choice of strategy (or propensity to fairness) in the ultimatum game. The empirical study showed that a decision maker chooses rational strategy more frequently when he (or she) is thinkful (or cognitive) in high involvement level.

  • For the last two decades, there has been much research on computer abuse from the perspective of the general deterrence theory based on objectism, which covers security policy, security awareness programs, and physical security system. The traditional view offered by the general deterrence theory indicates that security policy, security awareness, and security system play a major role in preventing computer abuse. In spite of continuous organizational efforts and investments based on these systematic factors, the incidence of computer abuse in organizations is still rapidly increasing. This paper proposes another perspective-the social control theory based on subjectism-in preventing computer abuse. According to the social control theory, organizational trust, which comprises organizational attachment, commitment, involvement and norms, can prevent computer abuse by reducing insider's computer abuse. The aim of this article is to assess the role of organizational trust come from attachment, commitment, involvement, norms in preventing computer abuse. The results indicate that both organizational trust and deterrent factors are effective in preventing computer abuse.

  • The purpose of this paper is to study user's involvement in new product development (NPD). It seeks to identify the factors involving user and design practices in the design process of new product development. A survey was conducted on 20 respondents consisting of designers involved in product development from various industries. The study focused on the early activities of the product design process which is called product specification. The analysis performed considers the importance of involving users in design decision. The outcome of this research is the significance of involving users and its effect on product development activities. The research also provides a model for an integrated user, designer and product knowledge activity in the product development process.
