The nature of wireless transmission has made wireless sensor networks defenseless against various attacks. This paper presents warning message counter method (WMC) to detect blackhole attack, grayhole attack and sinkhole attack in wireless sensor networks. The objective of these attackers are, to draw the nearby network traffic by false routing information and disrupt the network operation through dropping all the received packets (blackhole attack), selectively dropping the received packets (grayhole and sinkhole attack) and modifying the content of the packet (sinkhole attack). We have also attempted light weighted symmetric key cryptography to find data modification by the sinkhole node. Simulation results shows that, WMC detects sinkhole attack, blackhole attack and grayhole attack with less false positive 8% and less false negative 6%.

Anonymity online has been an ever so fundamental topic among journalists, experts, cybersecurity professionals, corporate whistleblowers. Highest degree of anonymity online can be obtained by mimicking a normal everyday user of the internet. Without raising any flags of suspicion and perfectly merging with the masses of public users. Online Security is a very diverse topic, with new exploits, malwares, ransomwares, zero-day attacks, breaches occurring every day, staying updated with the latest security measures against them is quite expensive and resource intensive. Network security through anonymity focuses on being unidentifiable by disguising or blending into the public to become invisible to the targeted attacks. By following strict digital discipline, we can avoid all the malicious attacks as a whole. In this paper we have demonstrated a proof of concept and feasibility of securing yourself on a network by being anonymous.
In wireless sensor networks, an adversary can launch the wormhole attacks, where a malicious node captures packets at one location and tunnels them to a colluding node, which retransmits them locally. The wormhole attacks are very dangerous against routing protocols since she might launch these attacks during neighbor discovery phase. A strategic placement of a wormhole can result in a significant breakdown in communication across the network. This paper presents a compromise-resilient tunneled packet filtering method for sensor networks. The proposed method can detect a tunneled message with hop count alteration by a comparison between the hop count of the message and one of the encrypted hop counts attached in the message. Since the proposed method limits the amount of security information assigned to each node, the impact of wormhole attacks using compromised nodes can be reduced.

Today, as AI (Artificial Intelligence) technology is introduced in various fields, including security, the development of technology is accelerating. However, with the development of AI technology, attack techniques that cleverly bypass malicious behavior detection are also developing. In the classification process of AI models, an Adversarial attack has emerged that induces misclassification and a decrease in reliability through fine adjustment of input values. The attacks that will appear in the future are not new attacks created by an attacker but rather a method of avoiding the detection system by slightly modifying existing attacks, such as Adversarial attacks. Developing a robust model that can respond to these malware variants is necessary. In this paper, we propose two methods of generating Adversarial attacks as efficient Adversarial attack generation techniques for improving Robustness in AI models. The proposed technique is the XAI-based attack technique using the XAI technique and the Reference based attack through the model's decision boundary search. After that, a classification model was constructed through a malicious code dataset to compare performance with the PGD attack, one of the existing Adversarial attacks. In terms of generation speed, XAI-based attack, and reference-based attack take 0.35 seconds and 0.47 seconds, respectively, compared to the existing PGD attack, which takes 20 minutes, showing a very high speed, especially in the case of reference-based attack, 97.7%, which is higher than the existing PGD attack's generation rate of 75.5%. Therefore, the proposed technique enables more efficient Adversarial attacks and is expected to contribute to research to build a robust AI model in the future.

They are rapidly evolving malicious attacks on smart devices, and to timely protect the smart devices from these attacks has become a very important issue. In particular, smishing attack has emerged as one of the most important threats on the smartphone. In this paper, we propose the cloud service that can fundamentally protect the user from the risk of smishing attack. The proposed scheme provides cloud messaging service that can filter text messages including URLs in the user's smart device, view and manage them through a virtual machine provided by a cloud server. The existing techniques for preventing smshing attacks protect only malicious code of a known pattern and there is the possibility of error such as FP(False Positive) or FN(False Negative). However, since the proposed method automatically filters all text messages including URLs, storing, viewing, and managing them in their own storage space on the cloud server, it can completely block the installation of malwares(malicious codes) on the user's smart device through smishing attacks.

Bot is a kind of worm/virus that is remotely controlled by a herder. Bot can be used to launch distributed denial-of-service(DDoS) attacks or send spam e-mails etc. Launching cyber attacks using malicious Bots is motivated by increased monetary gain which is not the objective of worm/virus. However, it is very difficult for infected user to detect this infection of Botnet which becomes more serious problems. This is why botnet is a dangerous, malicious program. The Bot DNS Sinkhole is a domestic bot mitigation scheme which will be proved in this paper as one of an efficient ways to prevent malicious activities caused by bots and command/control servers. In this paper, we analysis botnet activities over more than one-year period, including Bot's lifetime, Bot command/control server's characterizing. And we analysis more efficient ways to prevent botnet activities. We have showed that DNS sinkhole scheme is one of the most effective Bot mitigation schemes.
Form of backdoor penetration attacks "trapdoor" penetration points to bypass the security features and allow direct access to the data. Backdoor without modifying the source code is available, and even code generation can also be modified after compilation. This approach by rewriting the compiler when you compile the source code to insert a specific area in the back door can be due to the use of the method. Defense operations and the basic structure of the backdoor or off depending on the nature of the damage area can be a little different way. This study is based on the diagnosis of a back door operating mechanism acting backdoor analysis methods derived. Research purposes in advance of the attack patterns of malicious code can respond in a way that is intended to be developed. If we identify the structures of backdoor and the infections patterns through the analysis, in the future we can secure the useful information about malicious behaviors corresponding to hacking attacks.

Peer-to-peer (P2P) networks consume the most bandwidth in the current Internet and file sharing accounts for the majority of the P2P traffic. Thus it is important for a P2P file sharing application to be efficient in bandwidth consumption. Bandwidth consumption as much as downloaded file sizes is inevitable, but those in file search and bad downloads, e.g. wrong, corrupted, or malicious file downloads, are overheads. In this paper, we target to reduce these overheads even in the presence of high volume of malicious users and their bad files. Sybil attacks are the example of such hostile environment. Sybil attacker creates a large number of identities (Sybil nodes) and unfairly influences the system. When a large portion of the system is subverted, either in terms of the number of users or the number of files shared in the system, the overheads due to the bad downloads rapidly increase. We propose ELiSyR, a file search protocol that can tolerate such a hostile environment. ELiSyR uses social networks for P2P file search and finds benign files in 71% of searches even when more than half of the users are malicious. Furthermore, ELiSyR provides similar success with less bandwidth than other general efforts against Sybil attacks. We compare our algorithm to SybilGuard, SybilLimit and EigenTrust in terms of bandwidth consumption and the likelihood of bad downloads. Our algorithm shows lower bandwidth consumption, similar chances of bad downloads and fairer distribution of computation loads than these general efforts. In return, our algorithm takes more rounds of search than them. However the time required for search is usually much less than the time required for downloads, so the delay in search is justifiable compared to the cost of bad downloads and subsequent re-search and downloads.
A wireless sensor network is composed of many resource constrained sensor nodes. These networks are attacked by malicious attacks like DDoS and routing attacks. In this paper, we propose the intrusion detection and prevention system using convergence of software-defined networking and security technology in wireless sensor networks. Our proposed scheme detects various intrusions in a central server by accumulating log messages of OpenFlow switch through SDN controller and prevents the intrusions by configuring OpenFlow switch. In order to validate our proposed scheme, we show it can detect and prevent some malicious attacks in wireless sensor networks.

Many defensive mechanisms have been evolved as new attack methods are developed. However, APT attacks using e-mail are still hard to detect and prevent. Recently, many organizations in the government sector or private sector have been hacked by malicious e-mail based APT attacks. In this paper, first, we built hacking e-mail database based on the real e-mail data which were used in attacks on the Korean government organizations in recent years. Then, we extracted features from the hacking e-mails for profiling them. We design a case vector that can describe the specific characteristics of hacking e-mails well. Finally, based on case based reasoning, we made an algorithm for retrieving the most similar case from the hacking e-mail database when a new hacking e-mail is found. As a result, hacking e-mails have common characteristics in several features such as geo-location information, and these features can be used for classifying benign e-mails and malicious e-mails. Furthermore, this proposed case based reasoning algorithm can be useful for making a decision to analyze suspicious e-mails.
