The Effect of DMM on Learning Motivation and Academic Achievement in SW Education of Non-Major (비전공자의 SW 교육을 위한 시연 중심 모형의 학습동기와 학업성취도 효과)

  • In order to nurture talents who will lead the digital convergence era of the 4th industrial revolution that creates new knowledge and industries, research is being conducted on teaching methods that can improve the understanding of non-majors' SW concept, computational thinking ability, and convergence with majors is becoming Non-majors face difficulties in understanding and understanding the SW development environment, relevance to their major, and ability to converge. We used software education that is relatively easy to access for non-majors, and applied a demonstration-oriented model (DMM) that can be applied to beginners in SW education to understand the components and logical flow of ideas related to applications and majors used in real life. A convergence SW Learning method that combines repetitive implementation through instructor's demonstration and learner's modeling and learning motivational factors was proposed. In the experiment applying the teaching and learning method proposed in this paper, meaningful results were shown in terms of learning motivation and academic achievement in SW education.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect on satisfaction after education of cardiovascular pulmonary resuscitation(CPR) in Daejon Emergency Medical information Center in Korea. The major instruments of this study were Korean Self-Analysis Student Opinionnaire. Questionnaire contains 12 items which measure student's satisfaction or attitude factor. To take the analysis of data, the total of 308 students were investigated in Medical Information Center in Dae-jon Metropolitan City from 2004. 2. September to 2004. 16. September. The data were analyzed by the path analysis SPSS program. The result are as follows: 1. After education of CPR, there was significant satisfaction of CPR knowledge P=0.0011). 2. After education of CPR, there was significant satisfaction of CPR skill(P=0.00001).

A Case Study on the Application of Gender Analysis Methods to Biomedical Engineering Capstone Design (의공학 캡스톤디자인 수업에서의 젠더분석 방법 적용사례)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop capstone design model of gender analysis methods suitable for engineering education field and examine improvements and effects by applying it to actual lessons for biomedical engineering students. Case study was performed to achieve the purpose of the study. Twelve gender analysis methods were applied to 'biomedical engineering capstone design' which was major course offered by department of biomedical engineering at J university. After the students understood how to analyze gender analysis methods and cases, they decided project topics and presented what gender analysis methods were applied for each project. Additionally, the results of analysis showed that the students were more able to understand the differences between men and women of all ages and try to narrow down the differences. They also found that they could contribute to development of new added value of knowledge and technology that reflected the needs of both men and women by applying gender analysis methods in system development.

  • Background: The purpose of this study was to examine relationships among self-assessment, self-efficacy, and satisfaction after OSCE(Objective Structured Clinical Examination) using smart phone. Methods: The convenience sample was consisted of 90 nursing college students. The data were collected from November 15 to November 18 in 2011. The data were analyzed using SPSS win 19.0 program. Data were analyzed with descriptive statistics including t-test, ANOVA and Pearson's correlation coefficient to compare self-efficacy and satisfaction by subject's general related characteristics and to examine the relationships among variables. Results: The level of self-efficacy was 3.48(${\pm}0.27$). The level of satisfaction was 4.01(${\pm}0.54$). Self-efficacy was significant relationship satisfaction with practice education (r=.380, p=.045), satisfaction with the method of practical tests (r=.270, p=.009), and satisfaction with major (r=.250, p=.015). There was significant relationship between satisfaction with major and satisfaction with practice education (r=.240, p=.020). Conclusion: Comprehensive intervention promoting self-efficacy, interpersonal relationship, and perceived image of nurses after practicum is needed to improve self-efficacy and satisfaction, for those who can not better interpersonal relationships, perceived image of nurses after practicum.

A Case Study on Approaches to Supporting Medical Students with Burnout Experience (의과대학 학생의 소진에 대한 지도사례 분석)

  • Medical students often need high levels of specialized institutional and personal support to recover from a burnout experience and to prevent student failure. This study aimed to present approaches to supporting medical students who had experienced burnout using case studies. The study subjects were 45 burnout cases who had been supported by the student support system and committee in one medical school. The factors associated with burnout include poor social network: the lack of belongingness, immature sense of identity, poor mental health, a lack of intrinsic motivation and aptitude, or a major personal crisis. We summarized some tips according to the factors associated with burnout. These tips should provide guidance to organizations and individual support providers to encourage the best quality support for medical students with burnout experiences.

Dietary Habits and Nutrition Knowledge of Children Using Community Food Service Centers according to Family Type (무료급식소를 이용하는 아동의 가족유형에 따른 식습관 및 영양지식 비교)

  • The objective of this study was to assess dietary habits and nutrition knowledge of elementary school students who use community food-service centers according to family type. The subjects were comprised of 147 individuals in low-income households, aged from 7 to 12 years, and who consumed free meals at community welfare centers or at local children's centers in Seoul and Kyunggi-do, Korea. Dietary habits and dietary intake were obtained using 24-hr recall. Children in low-income single parent families skipped breakfast more frequently than children in low-income married pa-rent families. No difference in nutrition intake or dietary habits was observed between children in low-income single parent families and children in low-income married parent families. More interest and financial support of the government are required to develop nutrition education and food assistance programs for children in low-income single parent families.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop criteria that can evaluate the application and implementation process of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD). The subject of study is: What are the criteria to evaluate the degree of implementation of ESD in schools, and how can they be developed? In addition, the criteria questions for ESD were conducted by teachers from research and model schools in T city which applied ESD in school education. As a result, evaluation criteria questions have 3 major, 16 medium and 105 minor categories, which can evaluate ESD in school education by using a total of four kinds of analysis framework including the ESD criteria questions of ENSI (Environment and School Initiatives).

Analytical Research on Changes of Library and Information Science Education in China (중국 문헌정보학 교육에 대한 변화분석 연구)

  • With the objective of analyzing changes in the education and curriculum of library and information science in China, this study conducts the following analyses. First, with respect to library and information science education, this study analyzed changes in terms of library and information science departments and majors being offered for undergraduate, graduate, doctoral, and post-doctoral training institutions from 2001 to 2012. Also, this study examined and analyzed colleges, areas, years of establishments and characteristics of 25 colleges that offers library and information science major. Second, with respect to library and information science curriculum, this study analyzed changes in the curricula of 1997 and 2006, while using China Education Ministry's 2003 main curricula of library science major as criteria and analyzed changes and characteristics of 2012 library and information science curricula of Wuhan University and Beijing University.

Analysis on the Health Condition, Meal Type and Snack Preference of University Students in Chungnam Province (충남지역 대학생의 건강상태, 식사유형 및 간식의 선호도 분석)

  • This study was carried out to investigate the eating habits and preference of snacks for students in Chungnam province. Questionnaires were collected from 333 students, which were divided into male and female, food nutrition majors and non-majors, and weight groups according to BMI. The results obtained were as follows; 1. 62.8% of students responded that they were healthy. A significant difference on the health question was found between male and female students (p<.05). Male students responded more positively to the question related to health than the females, saying they felt healthy (71.1%). There was no significance between the different majors, but a significant difference was found in weight groups compared to normal groups (p<.05). 2. 72.1% of respondents enjoyed omnivorous meals. The significant differences were not found in gender groups and major groups. However, there was a significant difference between the weights of the students (p<.01). 3. Most of the students liked sweet foods (42.3%). The significant difference was found in gender groups for food tastes. The male students preferred spicy foods (37.0%), but the females preferred sweet foods (49.5%). Taste for the major and weight groups was not significantly different. 4. 50.5% of respondents answered that they frequently ate snacks. The significance was found in gender groups (p<.01). The females had a higher intake of snacks than the males. The significant difference for taste was not shown in the major group, but was found in the weight groups (p<.05). 5. Students preferred snacks and candy (16.8%). The males liked dairy products (19.3%), while the females preferred snacks and candy (23.7%). Students majoring in food nutrition have a tendency to prefer snacks (32.1%). Appropriate calorie intake and desirable eating habits should be recommended for healthy control and maintenance of students through eating nutritionally balanced foods.

On the Effectiveness of Centering, Interpolation and Extrapolation in Estimating the Mean of a Population with Linear Trend

  • We apply the techniques of interpolation and extrapolation to derive a new estimator based on centered modified systematic sampling for the mean of a population which has a linear trend. The efficiency of the proposed estimation method is compared with that of various existing methods. An illustrative numerical example is given.
