Factors Associated with Fruit and Vegetable Consumption of Subjects Having a History of Stroke: Using 5th Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (2010, 2011) (제5기 국민건강영양조사(2010년, 2011년) 자료를 이용한 뇌졸중 유병 경험자들의 과일 및 채소 섭취 관련 요인 분석)

  • Objectives: Intake of fruits and vegetables has protective effects against stroke attack. This study intended to examine the status of consuming fruits and vegetables and to find out which factors may influence the frequency of consumption of fruits and vegetables in individuals with a history of stroke. Methods: The data of 208 subjects from 5th (2010, 2011) Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHNES) who reported a stroke diagnosis was used for analysis. To identify major factors influencing the consumption of fruits and vegetables, a classification-tree analysis was carried out. Results: Among those who reported a stroke diagnosis, the frequencies of consumption of fruits and vegetables were influenced by their age, place of residence (urban or rural), economic status, educational level, occupation, number of family members, frequency of eating out, and having meals (breakfast or lunch) with family members. Two factors from fruits and three factors from vegetables were generated by exploratory factor analyses. Urban residents ate fruits and vegetables more frequently in all factors than rural residents. Eating frequencies of 'seasonal fruits (orange, apple, strawberry, melon, pear and watermelon)', 'easily-accessible fruits (persimmon, tangerine, grape, peach, banana)', and 'Western-style vegetables (cabbage, mushroom, carrot, tomato, spinach)' were influenced by the socioeconomic status. Eating frequencies of 'Korean-style vegetables (bean sprout, radish leaves, pumpkin/squash, sea weed)', 'preserved vegetables (Korean cabbage, radish, laver, cucumber)' were influenced by having breakfast with family members. Conclusions: The results of this study suggested that by eating more fruits and vegetables, more preventive effects against secondary stroke attack are expected in stroke patients who live in the rural areas and who do not eat breakfast with family members. In addition, more outreach and education programs are needed for them.

Research on the utilizing the history materials of east-west exchanges in history class (동서 교류 역사 자료를 활용한 역사 수업)

  • The purpose of this study is to know how to utilize foreigners such as Weltevree and Hamel who visited Korea in the pre-modern period, during history class. Both Weltevree and Hamel were Dutch men, and the first person who visited the Joseon Dynasty was Weltevree. He was a sailor of the Dutch East India Company, landed on Jeju Island in 1627, and since then, he did not return to his country. He played a major role in the execution of weapons. Hammel, the merchant catcher of the Dutch East India Company, traveled to Joseon in 1653 and contacted several kinds of people in various parts of the country for 13 years, and was able to survey the scenery and customs of Joseon. It can be difficult for students to understand the overall trends of the world history and the views of the East and the West because students learn from Western history, East Asian history, and Korean history, separately. Learning characteristics associated with East-West exchanges will enable students to understand the Western and Eastern history of the West, and understand the history of the world.

Nutrition Knowledge, Dietary Attitude, and Dietary Behavior Related to Salt According to the Dietary Lifestyle Groups (식생활 라이프스타일 그룹에 따른 소금관련 영양지식, 식태도, 식행동 비교 연구)

  • Purpose: In this study, we comparatively investigated the nutrition knowledge, dietary attitude, and dietary behavior related to salt according to the types of dietary life style for differences between the groups. Methods: The survey was conducted between May 1 to July 31, 2014 among 500 adults aged >19 years in Seoul, Gyeonggi-do and Chungcheong-do areas. Results: Factor analysis of the dietary life style, indicated 4 factors including food convenience factor, food information emphasis factor, behavior factor of pursing food taste, and food purchase standard factor, which were classified into 3 groups according to differentiated dietary life style types; group 1 emphasized convenience and diversity of food, and price sensitiveness. and included subjects who had low interest in health and nutrition and were less likely to take care of their health through regular exercise,; group 2 emphasized food ingredients, food additives, usage and food purchase standards. and included subjects who were more likely to take care of their health through exercise and showed lower intake of fast food and less cases of eating out.; and group 3 showed relatively higher tendency toward dietary life style factors than the other two groups. The level of nutrition knowledge in sodium intake differed according to dietary life styles, and showed a significant difference in the dietary practice of sodium intake. Conclusion: Nutrition education on the healthy dietary habit of reducing sodium intake be based on ge and gender. In addition, an effort is required to improve behavior, interest, and attitude according to the important tendencies of the dietary life style.

Pouch-type Konjac jelly manufacture and quality characteristics of jelly-containing vinegar drinks (식초음료를 첨가한 파우치형 곤약젤리의 제조 및 품질 특성)

  • The quality characteristics of jelly-containing vinegar drinks were divided into three stages in this study. The jelly, which differs from the contents of the vinegar drink, sharply decreased the pH. After sterilization, hardness was significantly decreased, and the formulation was not maintained, which was considered the effect of low pH and high total acidity of vinegar drinks. Different experiments confirmed that pH and sterilization heating conditions were the major quality variables for gelation as both sodium citrate content and jelly hardness were correlated before and after sterilization. The hardness of the jelly, which differs in gel content, correlated with the increase in gelation content both before and after sterilization. Therefore, considering the spout jelly of a vinegar drink, pH of 3.5-3.7 and a content of glucomannan and caragenane mixed gel were considered appropriate to match the product's sensory properties.

The Biometric based Mobile ID and Its Application to Electronic Voting

  • It requires a lot of costs and manpower to manage an election. The electronic voting scheme can make the election system economic and trustful. The widespread use of smart phones causes mobile voting to be a major issue. The smart phone can be used as a mobile voting platform since it can carry out many services in addition to basic telephone service. To make mobile voting practical and trustful, we analyzed two subjects of study. Firstly, the way to make a biometric based mobile ID, which has legal binding forces. In mobile voting, user identification is accomplished on line since the voter should be able to vote wherever they go. The digital ID conducts a similar role to the need for a resident card. The user's identity is bound to the resident card legally. To bind the user's identity to the smart phone, we use USIM. Biometric recognition is also needed to authenticate the user, since the user cannot prove him or her on line face-to-face. The proposed mobile ID can be reissued by means of introducing a random secret value. Secondly, the mobile voting scheme is proposed where candidates can accept election results without doubt. The goal of an election is to select a leader among two or more candidates. Existing electronic voting schemes mainly focus on the study of ballot verification accomplished by voters. These approaches are not safe against collusion attacks where candidates and the election administration center are able to collude to fabricate election results. Therefore, a new type of voting and counting method is needed where candidates can directly take part in voting and counting stages. The biometric based multi-signature scheme is used to make the undeniable multi-signed ballot. The ballot cannot be verified without the help of all candidates. If candidates accept election results without a doubt, the fairness of the election is satisfied.

Marketing for Real and Virtual Museums: A marketing Model to Explain Visitor Behavior in Real Museums and an Outlook on its Applicability to Virtual Museums

  • The purpose of this study is to obtain more insight into the explanation and prognosis of consumer behavior in real and virtual museums. The analysis focuses on the influence of the museum environment on the museum patrons (rather than on the influence of the art objects). On the basis of the emotional approach to environmental psychology by Mehrabian and Russell (1974), a behavior model has been developed for museums. The model, which is based on the emotional variables pleasure, arousal and dominance (PAD), is also enhanced by cognitive variabies (learning attractiveness, education standard and information demand). The enhancement of the classical model was necessary because cognitive variables play a major role in cultural institutions such as museums: One important objective of museums is the communication of cultural knowledge to visitors. The model is tested empirically using structural equation modeling. 301 visitors were interviewed individually. Two different museum environments were represented using visual stimuli. The theoretical model for museums can be proved empirically. The degree to which the model fits the empirical data was extensively tested. The model showed high compatibility with the data and could be accepted. The study proves that a model can be developed, which explains visitor behavior in museums. The model shows museum designers how museums should be designed to be both emotionally appealing and a learning environment. Based on empirical studies in virtual stores on the Internet, it is discussed whether the research findings in these environments may be applied to virtual museum environments. In order to create an emotionally appealing virtual museum, it is recommended that one uses a 3-dimensional representation to offer various possibilities for interaction and to create a multi-sensual environment that appears highly realistic.

A Study on the Marine Civil Guard Officer to Enhance the Quality of Maritime Security Services (해양경비 서비스 품질 개선을 위한 해양경비사 제도에 관한 연구)

  • In order to facilitate the private maritime security system with high quality guard services, the status of private security companies and the security instructor system which has been operated in land side, are analyzed. Through screening the spectrums of private maritime security and analyzing the status of maritime security guard, the characteristics and expertise of maritime guard service, and it's system need are elicited. we propose the system of marine civil guard officer who will play a major role in private maritime security domain, and design the job requirements, the subjects of qualification test and the education program to enhance his professionalism and practicality. Moreover, the enactment of a provision on marine guard company in Marine guard law will be the platform to develop a private maritime security industry and to strengthen international competitiveness through supervising and piloting private guard service at sea by Korea coast guard.

Analysis of Contents of Food Intake of Middle School Home Economics Textbook and Food Intake Trends of Middle School Students in Korea Using 2007~2015 Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey for Exploring Education Direction of Food Intake (중학생의 식품 섭취 교육방향 탐색을 위한 가정 교과서 및 2007~2015 국민건강영양조사의 식품 섭취 변화 추이 분석)

  • This study was performed to analyze the contents of food intake in middle school Home Economics textbook and the trends of food intake of middle school students in Korea to figure out the education direction of food intake. The contents of food intake were analyzed in major three kinds of middle school Home Economics textbook according to 2015 curriculum and the trends of food and nutrient intake were analyzed in 2,543 subjects aged 13 to 15 years using 2007~2015 Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination survey by logistic regression analysis or Pearson correlation coefficient. As a result, contents of food intake of textbook included food source of nutrient, food group name, necessity of eating diverse foods, recommended daily eating frequency of food group and menu planning according to meal composition guideline, however food intake trends were not included. Consumption of grains and grain products was increased until 2007 to 2010 year and was decreased after 2011 year(p=0.0012). Sugars and sweets, beverages and alcohols, and fish and shellfish consumption were increased during 2007~2015 year(p<0.0001). Carbohydrate, fat, vitamin A, thiamin and iron intakes were increased(p=0.0052), and energy ratio by carbohydrate was decreased(p=0.0009) and energy ratio by fat was increased(p<0.0001) during 2007~2015 year. Mean ratios of nutrient intake compared to the dietary reference intakes for Koreans were very low in dietary fiber(19-27%) and calcium(46-56%), but was higher in sodium(221-289%)(p<0.0001) regardless of year. There was a significant positive correlation between most food group intakes except sugars and sweets, bean and bean products, nuts and seeds, seaweeds, and beverages and alcohols and energy, protein, dietary fiber, vitamin A, riboflavin, calcium and iron intakes(p=0.0375). In the above, during the period from 2007 to 2015 year, intakes of sugars and sweets, beverages and alcohols, and fish and shellfish were increased, and intakes of dietary fiber and calcium were low and energy ratio by fat was increased, thus these trends are concerned to threaten nutritional balance and health of subjects. Therefore, Home Economics textbook of middle school needs to include food intake trends of adolescents with basic concepts to help them maintain balanced diet in the rapid change of food intake patterns for maintaining optimal nutrition and health.

The Expectation of Medical Artificial Intelligence of Students Majoring in Health in Convergence Era (융복합 시대에 일부 보건계열 전공 학생들의 의료용 인공지능에 대한 기대도)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the expectation toward medical artificial intelligence(AI) of students in majoring health, and to utilize it as a basic data for widespread use of medical AI for 500 students majoring in health science at Cheonan city. The awareness of AI was 18.6%, the reliability of AI was 24.8%, and agreement to use of medical AI was 38%. Also, the higher the awareness and reliability of AI were, the higher the expectation of AI was. As a result, education on medical AI in the major field should be a cornerstone for the development of an effective healthcare environment utilizing medical AI by raising awareness, reliability and expectation of AI.

Survey on Radon Knowledge and Awareness among Public Health Students (보건계열 재학생의 라돈 지식도 및 인지도 조사)

  • In order to investigate the knowledge and awareness of radon among public health students, this survey was conducted on second-year health students at three-year universities in the Busan and Gyeongnam regions and the results were analyzed. As a result of this study, firstly, the scores of radon knowledge according to gender were found to be high in men and radiologists, but there was no statistical difference. Second, as a result of the radon awareness survey, the radiology department students had the highest awareness, showing a statistically significant difference. Third, as a result of correlation analysis, the result was that the higher the knowledge about radon, the higher the awareness. Public health students are students who will be working to improve public health after graduation, so increasing their knowledge of radon will help improve public health. Therefore, it is believed that providing education about radon through the curriculum will be helpful in cultivating radon knowledge.
