This article outlines the physiological and biomechanical changes that occur during pregnancy which have been reported to be possible causes of low back and pelvic pain And then, examination, diagnosis, evaluation and treatment of the woman during pregnancy are described. Standard treatment for low back pain and pelvic pain in pregnancy includes education in anatomy and kinesiology, back-strengthening exercise, training of the abdominal muscles and body posture correction. • Background: Stopping medical treatment by tuberculosis (TB) patients prior to completing treatment period is a major concern in private hospitals. We evaluated the impact of public-private mix (PPM) project on increasing treatment success rate of TB in a private tertiary hospital in Korea. Methods: Starting in February 2009, TB patients treated at Dankook University Hospital received health education and case monitoring activities by specially trained public health nurses (PPM project). On a retrospective basis, we reviewed medical records and compared the treatment outcome of TB patients treated under the PPM project (PPM group) to patients treated without the PPM project (control group) between January 2008 and June 2010. In addition, we also evaluated the risk factors treatment non-completion. Results: The number of patients in the PPM group and control group were 123 (85 pulmonary TB and 38 extrapulmonary TB) and 146 (101 pulmonary TB and 45 extra-pulmonary TB), respectively. The PPM group had demographic and clinical findings comparable to those of control group. The PPM group showed a significantly higher treatment success rate (93.5%) compared to the control group (77.9%). However, development of complications, proximity to the hospital, and presence of co-morbid disease did not influence the treatment success rate. Conclusion: The PPM project was effective at increasing the TB treatment success rate. An effort to improve and to expand the PPM project is needed in private Korean hospitals.

  • The purpose of this study was to find how economic structures differ among four different household groups('enough', 'so so', 'a little difficult', 'very difficult') classified by subjective evaluation on their economic conditions. The data were drawn from 2004 Korean Labor and Income Panel Study conducted by Korea Labor Institute, and $X^2$-test and F-test were utilized by SPSS for Windows 10.0. The major findings were as following. First, the economic levels of household groups of 'enough' and 'so so' showed to be higher than the average. This result implies that households tend to evaluate by themselves their economic conditions comparing to the others. Second, the deviations of average economic levels among four different household groups were relatively bigger in household economic elements of liquid asset, monthly savings and insurance than the others, and relatively smaller in household economic elements of total expenditure, especially expenditures in food at home, education, medical, communication than the others. Third, the households of 'a little difficult' and 'very difficult' showed undesirable economic structures resulting from lack of savings and insurance for their future.

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study was to examine the oral health care and educational needs of college students in an effort to give some suggestions on the development of oral health educational media. It's basically meant to boost the efficiency of oral health education geared toward college students. Methods : The subjects in this study were 500 students at seven different colleges located in Daejeon and South Choongcheong Province. After a survey was conducted, frequency analysis and ANOVA were utilized to analyze the collected data. And the records of the in-depth interviews of 10 students were analyzed as well. Results : The gender of the students and whether their major was linked to health or not made differences to their knowledge of dental caries. And there was nothing to affect their knowledge of periodontal diseases except whether their major was related to health or not. They didn't have a good knowledge of periodontal diseases, and they just regarded toothbrushing as a means to prevent dental caries and periodontal diseases. They preferred to acquire knowledge over the Internet. Conclusions : College students who don't know well about periodontal diseases should be given an opportunity to learn about periodontal diseases and diverse ways of preventing dental caries and periodontal diseases other than toothbrushing. As the college students preferred to surf the Internet, educational programs should be developed in the form of video clips that can be found over the Internet, and more aggressive publicity is required via SNS, etc.

  • Disposal of construction wastes poses major challenge to the municipal administration in the developing countries. At the same time new developments in these countries are unscrupulously exploiting the natural resources. The sustainable development requires judicious and careful utilization of natural resources. In this context, reuse of construction and demolition waste can save the global natural resources to greater extent. In this work the bricks and concrete waste from construction sites were crushed to the desired sizes and mixed in various proportions to study its properties in the concrete both in fresh and hardened states. Six mixes of natural and recycled aggregates were used to make the coarse aggregates for the concrete. From each mix nine cylinders were cast, which were tested at 7,14 and 28 days. The properties of concrete with recycled aggregates were compared with the control mix having natural aggregates. The nominal ratio of cement sand and coarse aggregates were kept at 1:2:4 by weight for all mixes. The tests have shown that concrete with recycled aggregates made from old concrete and brick bats provide greater opportunities for reuse of construction wastes in concrete.
