This study has two major purposes. One is to find out the impact of learning programming language on deciding major for freshmen who enter the university without specific major and decide their majors from sophomore. Another is to compare between 2015 group without specific major at freshmen and 2013 group who were not required to take program language courses. Our study has several important implications. First, this study is the first attempt to figure out the effects of the program language education on deciding major. Secondly, one can predict the effects and importance of software education which is going to imply to all highschool students starting from 2018. Thirdly, software education may help to alleviate science and engineering aversion.
The 2015 revised curriculum is an integrated curriculum that reflects national and societal needs to foster creative convergent talent in the school curriculum. Along with these changes, the Ministry of Education introduced a system to change the major from 2017 to the fourth year of university. Therefore, each university should prepare to reflect the curriculum and institutional change before welcoming students who have completed the 2015 revised curriculum. The university needs to study the countermeasures for implementing the 2015 revised curriculum and expanding the period of major change when preparing the curriculum and contents of the calculus courses that freshmen take. Handong University has been studying the operation methods of new students who want to decide their major at the first grade, such as operating calculus courses at various levels and allocating appropriate proportions of calculus for preliminary examinations. This case is similar to the basic purpose of the revised curriculum in 2015, so it can suggest implications for the operation of the university calculus class after the curriculum revision. In this paper, we have analyzed the results of the recent freshman mathematics test for the recent 5 years and the students' calculus grades and compared them with the contents of the calculus curriculum operated by Handong University and the 2015 revised higher mathematics curriculum. As a result, we proposed five classes of calculus suitable for college major and it was found that the calculus curriculum should include the missing quadratic method in the 2015 revised curriculum.

This study was conducted to investigate the fitness of major courses according to the development and application of new curricula based on the NCS (National Competency Standards) of health-related departments at junior colleges. To accomplish this, 300 students of the health-related departments at junior colleges were surveyed from March 11 to March 30, 2016. The overall findings showed that their awareness of NCS, intent of integration and understanding of curriculum contents had a significant effect on the fitness for linkage and combination with existing education. Competency unit elements based on the newly developed NCS (job, work, qualification and training standardization of major courses) were linked with existing education. And students - who accept this - are rapidly assimilated into the new curriculum contents. In particular, they have a high understanding of the integrated development of standardized curricula between three major departments, unlike existing textbooks. In conclusion, the high perception and understanding of knowledge integration education are expected to have a positive effect on healthcare education, establishing an early health-related NCS system in the future, and improving site fitness for development of the contents of NCS.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare nursing professionalism between diploma students and bachelor students and to identify differences in factors affecting nursing professionalism according to nursing educational system. Methods: The participants were 462 nursing students who had completed all clinical practicum courses. Of these students, 255 were from one of 2 diploma degree colleges and 207 were from one of 3 bachelor degree universities. Collected data included general characteristics, professionalism, nursing image, self-efficacy, satisfaction with nursing as a major, and satisfaction with clinical practice. Results: Age, religion, grade point average, motivation for admission, nursing professionalism and satisfaction with clinical practice were significantly different between diploma and bachelor students. Image of nurse, satisfaction with nursing as a major and satisfaction with clinical practice were common factors influencing nursing professionalism in both groups. Self-efficacy was a significant factor only for diploma degree students and religion was a significant factor only for bachelor degree students. Conclusion: For more positive nursing professionalism by students, more attention should be paid to enhancing positive nurse images, satisfaction with nursing as a major and satisfaction with clinical practice during the students' period of study.
Objectives: This literature review seeks to identify the current status of the liberal arts education of dental hygiene majors offered by universities in Korea and the U.S. and provide a comparative analysis of the data on liberal arts education in both countries. Methods: From April 3, 2017 to May 1, 2017, research data on curriculum topics were collected from 60 selected universities. The data were collected from university websites, which also provided the universities' emails and dental hygiene major descriptions. We calculated the descriptive statistics of the variables and performed independent t-tests on the data. Results: In all the domains of the NCS and K-CESA, the dental hygiene major currently offers courses on language and communication and general education, focusing on self-management and development. Few universities offer subjects from other disciplines. Conclusions: Pro-actively exploring strategies is a prerequisite to the systematic operation of standardized dental hygiene education. It is imperative to conduct research consistently on relevant topics, such as teaching methods, general education standards, and connectivity between major subjects and the goals and effects of exposure to a general education.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the influence of golf participants' major hitting factors on their consumption behavior characteristics and golf consumption behavior. To achieve this objective, the study subjects were set as the population aged 20 years or older who use golf courses and driving ranges in Gwangju Metropolitan City and Jeollanam-do, and then 158 males and 172 females using cluster random sampling. A total of 300 persons were selected as the study subjects. The survey tool was the questionnaire method, and among the tools that had already been used to verify the reliability and validity of the questionnaire in domestic and foreign previous studies, it was reused or modified or supplemented according to the variables of this study. The collected data were winter-processed according to the purpose of analysis using the SPSS statistical program as follows. The results obtained through this process are as follows. First, it was found that the major players participating in golf had partial differences in the characteristics of golf consumption behavior. Second, it was found that the major hitters participating in golf had a partial difference in their golf consumption behavior. Third, it was found that the golf consumption behavior characteristics of golf participants partially affected the golf consumption behavior.

Recently, as the importance of computational thinking skills has increased, several schools have opened and operated software courses for all students. Software education aims to creatively solve various problems based on coding, but it is difficult to motivate non-major learners who do not have engineering knowledge or are not interested in the IT field. Motivation for learning plays an important role in improving learners' concentration and learning efficiency. In this paper, a method of motivating non-major learners for software subjects was studied and the results were evaluated through a questionnaire.
This study estimated how much carbon can be sequestered if we plant trees in non-forested areas in the 36 hole Oak Valley Golf Courses in Gangwon Province, Korea. We identified plantable areas where planting trees will not affect golf game using high resolution aerial photography and ground survey and estimated the annual carbon sequestration rate of the planted trees using biomass equations. Of the golf courses, 30.3% were covered by forest. Other major land cover types include lawn, waterbody, baresoil, buildings, and roads. The plantable areas consist of $106,101m^2$ of lawn (6.0% of the study site) and $177,531m^2$ of low density forest (10.1% of the study site). We assumed to plant Mongolian oaks with 10 cm in diameter at brest height with the density of $0.3/m^2$ in the lawn and $0.2/m^2$ in the low density forest. The planting simulation shows that the total number of the newly planted trees were 67,336, and the total carbon sequestered during the subsequent year was 392.9 tC/yr, which offset 12.5% of the total carbon emitted from the golf courses. The annual carbon sequestration rate gradually increases and reaches its maximum level at 440.5 tC/yr in 15 years since the initial reforestation (14.0% of the carbon emission from the golf courses).
The current system of making course evaluations mandatory in universities in Korea in order to supplement low participation levels is a major hindering factor for the validity of the evaluation results due to students' insincere responses. This study points out the problems in course evaluations that are in the form of surveys and instead proposes a sample course evaluation system that utilizes a sample mean to deduce a population mean, attempting to prove through simulation that this is statistically significant. Thus, small, medium, and large scale courses as well as cyber courses that were available in S University in the fall 2016 semester were set as the population, and each course's evaluation average grade was set as the population mean. Furthermore, we used the average grade and standard deviation of the same courses from the previous year in order to decide the sample number, the reliability level was set as 95%, and the margin of error was set as ${\pm}0.25$. As a result of carrying out a simulation using the data analysis tool R, all the courses (small scale, medium scale, large scale, and cyber) showed to have a reliability level close to 95% including the population mean, and consequently practicality of the representative sample course evaluation system was proven.
This study conducted a comparative analysis of awareness level of review standards, continuing education, and awareness about the need for speciality and educational courses in order to improve quality of Korean health insurance review work and to present directions for policies of personnel development and continuing education to smoothly perform hospital's insurance claim work and Agency's review work. The analysis unit of the study is individuals, and survey was conducted among hospital's claim officers and Agency' review officers by distributing questionnaires. The major results of the study are as follows: First, it is found that hospital's claim officers and Agency's review officers have conflicting awareness about review standards; more Agency's review officers think that current review standards are universal and reasonable, while more hospital's claim officers believe that they need to be revised. Especially, hospital's claim officers replied that it is possible that review results can differ according to government's policies. Second, there is no significant difference between the two groups in the opinion that there are individual differences in awareness level of review standard. In particular, both groups share the opinion that review results can differ according to officer's interpretation of review standards. Third, Both review officer groups feel the need for further training and continuing education. Fourth, there is no difference between the two groups in the opinion that both groups members should be educated in review related educational institutions. However, while 81.5% of Agency's review officers the education should be offered at the Agency, only 45.2% of hospital's claim officers agreed to it. Fifth, both review personnel do not show any difference in awareness of needed experience to successfully perform review work; both groups replied that three to four years experience is necessary to smoothly perform claim work and review work. This study was tried in order to search for directions to improve Korean insurance review work in quality rather than to explore characteristics themselves of individual factors. In this sense, this study presupposed an intention that the educational subjects for further training and continuing education for the two groups should be the same in order to narrow the awareness gap between hospital's claim officers and Agency's review officers. Thus, this study suggests that it is desirable to offer beginner courses at junior colleges or in undergraduate courses and advanced courses in professional graduate school for six to twelve months. In that a comparison of awareness level of hospital's claim officers and Agency's review officers who are actually in practice should precede appropriate presentation of directions for the qualitative improvement of insurance review work in Korea, the significance of this study lies in comparatively analyzing the awareness level of hospital's claim officers and Agency's review officers and in presenting the establishment of future further training and continuing education.
