수소환원공정에 의한 니켈 미분말의 합성에 미치는 마그네슘 스테아린산의 첨가 영향 (Effect of magnesium stearate addition on synthesis of fine nickel powders by hydrogen reduction process)

  • 염화 니켈과 마그네슘 스테아린산 혼합 분말로부터 수소환원 공정에 의하여 니켈 분말을 제조하고 반응온도 및 마그네슘스테아린산의 첨가에 따른 분말의 특성을 검토하였다. 마그네슘 스테아린산을 함유한 경우 과도한 입자 성장의 억제로 인하여 입경 감소 효과가 있었다. 마그네슘 스테아린산의 함유량이 증가함에 따라 이에 따른 액상량의 증가로 인하여 입경 감소와 입자들간의 응집 정도에도 영향을 주었다.

국내 마그네슘 생산공정의 온실가스 배출량 산정 및 감축방안 연구 (A Study on the Greenhouse Gas Emission and Reduction Measures of Domestic Magnesium Production Process)

  • In this study, greenhouse gas emission of magnesium industry was estimated and the reduction potential of the greenhouse gas emission was evaluated with reduction technologies. Default value of IPCC guideline was used to calculate the greenhouse gas emission and $SF_6$ alternatives were considered in reduction potential. Import of magnesium ingot was 22,806 ton in 2013, which will be expected to increase to 81,700 ton with 20% rate in 2020. Magnesium ingot was consumed to produce magnesium alloy in diecasting process. Recently, commercial production of crown magnesium and magensium plate began. Based on ingot consumption, $CO_2$ emission of domestic magnesium industry was estimated to 504,000 ton, which is about 0.79% of domestic industrial emissions. Reduction potential of diecasting process was estimated to 489,320 ton by changing SF6 to alternative gases such as HFC-134a, Novec-612. Emission factor of Tier 3 level should be developed to enhance the accuracy of greeenhouse gas emission of magnesium industry.

탄탈륨 산화물의 마그네슘 가스환원에 의한 탄탈륨 금속분말 제조 (Fabrication of Metallic Tantalum Powder by Magnesium-gas Reduction of Tantalum Oxide)

  • Metallic tantalum powder is manufactured by reducing tantalum oxide ($Ta_2O_5$) with magnesium gas at 1,073-1,223 K in a reactor under argon gas. The high thermodynamic stability of magnesium oxide makes the reduction reaction from tantalum oxide into tantalum powder possible. The microstructure after the reduction reaction has the form of a mixture of tantalum and magnesium oxide, and the latter could be entirely eliminated by dissolving in weak hydrochloric acid. The powder size in SEM microstructure for the tantalum powder increases after acid leaching in the range of 50-300 nm, and its internal crystallite sizes are observed to be 11.5 to 24.7 nm with increasing reduction temperatures. Moreover, the optimized reduction temperature is found to be 1,173 K as the minimum oxygen concentration is approximately 1.3 wt.%.

  • 최근 국내에서 자동차 부품산업 및 전자기기 산업에서 마그네슘 금속의 수요가 증가하고 있다. 본 고에서는 마그네슘 금속 제련에 관하여 원료 광석, 세계 생산량과 상용화 조업중인 기술들을 요약 정리하였으며, 국내 마그네슘 관련 시장현황과 기술동향들을 조사하였다. 마그네슘 제련은 크게 용융염 제련법과 열환원법 두가지로 대별할 수 있으며 이들 기술의 일반적인 현황을 살펴보았다. 또한, 국내에서 수행중인 마그네슘의 용융염 제련 연구에 대하여 간략히 기술하고, 용융염 제련시 발생되는 염소나 염화수소의 회수 및 처리 등 재활용 분야와 관련기술을 소개하고자 한다.

  • Zr-Ti alloy powders were successfully synthesized by magnesium thermal reduction of metal chlorides. The evaporated and mixed gasses of $ZrCl_4+TiCl_4$ were injected to liquid magnesium and the chloride components were reduced by magnesium leading to the formation of $MgCl_2$. The released Zr and Ti atoms were then condensed to particle forms inside the mixture of liquid magnesium and magnesium chloride, which could be dissolved fully in post process by 1~5% HCl solution at room temperature. By the fraction-control of individually injected $ZrCl_4$ and $TiCl_4$ gasses, the final compositions of produced alloy powders were changed in the ranges of Zr-0 wt.%~20 wt.%Ti and their purity and particle size were about 99.4% and the level of several micrometers, respectively.

  • Weight reduction while maintaining functional requirements is one of the major goals in the automotive industry. The use of lightweight magnesium alloys offers great potential for reducing weight because of the low density of these alloys. However, the formability and the surface quality of the final magnesium alloy product for auto-body structures are not acceptable without a careful optimization of the design parameters. In order to overcome some of the main formability limitations in the stamping of magnesium alloys, a new approach, the so-called "hybrid technology", has been recently proposed for body-in-white structural components. Within this approach, necessary level of mechanical joining can be obtained through the use of lightweight material-steel adhesion promoters. This paper presents the development process of an automotive hybrid hood assembly using magnesium alloy sheets. In the first set of material pairs, the selected materials are magnesium alloy AZ31B alloy and steel(SGCEN) as inner and outer panels, respectively. In order to optimize the design of the inner panel, the stamping process was analyzed with the finite element method (FEM). Laser welding by CW Nd:YAG were used to join the magnesium alloy sheets. Based on the simulation results and mechanical test results of the joints, the determination of die design variables and their influence on formability were discussed. Furthermore, a prototype based on the proposed design was manufactured and the static stiffness test was carried out. The results demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed hybrid hood with a weight reduction of 25.7%.

마그네슘 열환원에 의한 저응집 초미립 TiCN 분말합성 (Synthesis of Ultrafine and Less Agglomerated TiCN Powders by Magnesiothermic Reduction)

  • The ultra-fine and less agglomerated titanium carbonitride particles were successfully synthesized by magnesiothermic reduction with low feeding rate of $TiCl_4+1/4C_2Cl_4$ solution. The sub-stoichiometric titanium carbide ($TiC_{0.5{\sim}0.6}$) particles were produced by reduction of chlorine component by liquid magnesium at $800^{\circ}C$ of gaseous $TiCl_4+1/4C_2Cl_4$ and the heat treatments in vacuum were performed for 5 hours to remove the residual magnesium and magnesium chloride mixed with produced $TiC_{{\sim}0.5}$. The final $TiC_{{\sim}0.5}N_{0{\sim}0.5}$ particle with near 100 nm in mean size and high specific surface area of $65m^2/g$ was obtained by nitrification under nitrogen gas at $1,150^{\circ}C$ for 2 hrs.

  • The ultrafine titanium carbonitride particles ($TiC_{0.7}N_{0.3}$) below 100nm in mean size were successfully synthesized by Mg-thermal reduction process. The nanostructured sub-stoichiometric titanium carbide ($TiC_{0.7}$) particles were produced by the magnesium reduction at 1123K of gaseous $TiC_{l4}+xC_2Cl_4$ and the heat treatments in vacuum were performed for five hours to remove residual magnesium and magnesium chloride mixed with $TiC_{0.7}$. And final $TiC_{0.7}N_{0.3}$ phase was obtained by nitrification under normal $N_2$ gas at 1373K for 2 hrs. The purity of produced $TiC_{0.7}N_{0.3}$ particles was above 99.3% and the oxygen contents below 0.2 wt%. We investigated in particular the effects of the temperatures in vacuum treatment on the particle refinement of final product.

  • The characteristic of magnesium alloy is the most light in utility metal, the effect of electromagnetic wave interception, excellent specific strength and absorptiveness of vibration. Although magnesium alloy with above characteristic is a subject matter which is suitable in world-wide tendency of electrical component frame, sheet magnesium alloy is difficult to process. Therefore, forming analysis of sheet magnesium alloy and applying warm-working to process are indispensable. Among Finite element method, the static implicit finite element method is applied effectively to analyze sheet magnesium alloy stamping process, which include the forming stage. In this study, it was focused on the crack, wrinkling and spring back on sheet magnesium alloy stamping by the static implicit analysis. According to this study, the result of simulation will give engineers good information to access the forming technique on sheet magnesium alloy. And its application is being increased especially in the production of electrical component frame for the cost reduction, saving of defective ratio, and improvement of Productivity.

  • 최근 국내 자동차부품 및 전자기기 산업에서 마그네슘 금속의 수요가 증가하고 있다. 마그네슘 제련은 크게 용융염전해법과 열환원법 두 가지로 대별할 수 있는데, 본 고에서는 마그네슘 금속 제련에 관하여 원료 광석인 마그네사이트로부터 무수염화마그네슘 제조를 거쳐 용융염전해법에 의한 금속 마그네슘 제조까지 실험실 규모로 전해 마그네슘을 제조한 내용을 요약 보고하였다.
