서울지역 미세먼지 농도가 호흡기계 및 심혈관계의 외래 방문 및 입원과 진료비에 미치는 영향 (Hospital Visits, Admissions and Hospital Costs among Patients with Respiratory and Cardiovascular Diseases according to Particulate Matter in Seoul)

  • Objectives: The annual average of PM10 in Seoul was $45{\mu}/m^3$, which surpasses the WHO annual guidelines ($20{\mu}/m^3$). Most previous analyses of the effects of PM exposure have been retrospective studies using single hospital data, and fewer studies have attempted to address the relationship of PM10 and hospital costs. This study was conducted to investigate the effects of the concentration of PM10 on hospital visits, admissions and hospital costs in patients with respiratory and cardiovascular diseases. Methods: Medical data from the National Health Insurance Service and the monthly average of PM10 from National Institute of Environmental Research were used to identify the effects of PM10 on hospital visits, admissions and hospital costs. We applied Poisson regression and linear regression to perform the analysis. Results: The relative risks for admissions per $10{\mu}/m^3$ increase in PM10 were 23.11%, 10.2% and 6.9% increases for acute bronchiolitis, asthma and bronchitis, respectively. The relative risk for hospital visits per $10{\mu}/m^3$ increase in PM10 were 10.4%, 6.7% and 5.9% for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, asthma and chronic sinusitis, respectively. For cardiovascular disease, the relative risk for admissions per $10{\mu}/m^3$ increase in PM10 were 2.2% and 2.1% increases in angina and acute myocardial infarction, respectively. A $10{\mu}/m^3$ increase in the monthly average of PM10 corresponded to 170,723,000 won (95% CI: 125,587,000-215,860,000 won), 123,636,000 won (95% CI: 47,784,000-199,487,000 won) and 78,571,000 won (95% CI: 29,062,000-128,081,000 won) increases in hospital costs for asthma, acute tonsillitis and chronic sinusitis, respectively. Conclusion: Hospital admissions for respiratory and cardiovascular disease were associated with PM10 levels. PM10 exposure is also associated with increased costs for respiratory diseases.

  • 아크 플라즈마에 의해 구동되는 스파크 제트의 다양한 에너지 공급 방법에 따른 효율적 운전 성능 특성에 대한 실험적 연구를 수행하였다. 펄스 당 37 mJ의 주입 에너지에 의한 급속한 기체의 가열에 의해 약 330 m/s의 고속 제트가 발생함을 확인하였다. 제트의 최대 속도와 침투 거리는 각각 주입된 전력량과 펄스 당 주입된 에너지에 비례하였다. 낮은 에너지에서는 오리피스 직경이 작을수록 더 높은 속도의 제트가 발생하였다. 공급 에너지가 같다면 전류를 높인 펄스가 펄스 폭을 높인 펄스보다 높은 속도의 제트를 발생시켰다. 펄스 폭이 약 $10{\mu}s$이고 펄스 당 에너지가 약 10 mJ인 경우가 효율적인 운전에 보다 더 적합한 것으로 확인되었다.

충청남도 산업단지의 오·폐수처리실태 분석 (Analysis on the Actual Conditions of Wastewater Treatment Facilities in Chungcheongnam-do Province Industrial Complexes)

  • This study was carried out to survey the actual conditions of wastewater treatment facilities to obtain basic data for the management of wastewater from industrial complexes in Chungcheongnam-do province. Wastewater production flow per site area by watersheds was $49.2m^3/km^2/d$ for Sapgyoho, $8.1m^3/km^2/d$ for Anseongcheon, $5.7m^3/km^2/d$ for Seohae, and $2.9m^3/km^2/d$ for Geumgang. Sapgyoho showed 75% of the total production flow, which was the highest value, Geumgang showed 4% of total flow, which was the lowest value. Average total extra rate as production flow/capacity flow in the wastewater treatment facilities for industrial complex is 49%. Considering by watersheds, the extra rates of Seohae, Geumgang, Anseongcheon, and Sapgyoho, are 73%, 65%, 62%, and 33% respectively. This means that the design of capacity flow in wastewater treatment facilities was too large. Effluent concentration of wastewater treatment facilities did not exceed discharge limit mostly. The removal efficiency rate for water quality item was 90% in BOD, 70% in COD, 80% in SS, 30 to 80% in TN, and 20 to 90% in TP, so the organic removal was good, but the nutrient removal was low and interval of variation was high. The removal efficiency rate of the agricultural was industrial complexes is lower than the national and local complexes. The construction cost of the wastewater treatment facilities in Chungcheongnam-do was $1,756Won\;per\;m^3$, treatment cost was $189Won\;per\;m^3$, and they were about two times and 1.2 times higher than the nation-wide cost, respectively. The treatment cost consists of 39% for man power, 21% for chemical, 16% for power, 11% for sludge treatment, and 13% for others.

비의 양이 지수분포를 따르는 경우 무한 댐의 최적 방출정책 연구 (An optimal policy for an infinite dam with exponential inputs of water)

  • 본 논문에서는 댐으로 물이 복합 포아송 과정을 따라 유입되고, 댐 수위가 적정수준 ${\lambda}$를 넘어서게 되면 방출률 M으로 물을 방출하는 무한 댐 모형이 고려된다. 한번 내리는 비의 양이 지수분포를 따르는 경우, 정상상태에서 댐 수위의 확률적 성질들을 구한다. 댐 운영과 관리에 관련된 여러 비용을 고려한 후, 장시간에 걸친 단위시간당 평균 비용을 구하고, 이를 최소화하는 방출률 M과 적정수준${\lambda}$가 유일하게 존재함을 보인다. MATLAB을 이용하여 수치적인 결과도 함께 보인다.

  • It is suggested that the dose limit recommended in the Enforcement Decree of Korea's Nuclear Safety Act should not exceed 150 mSv per year for radiation workers. Recently, however, ICRP 118 report has suggested that the threshold dose of the lens should be reduced to 0.2~0.5 Gy and the mean dose should not exceed 50 mSv per year for an average of 20 mSv over 5 years. Based on these contents, $^{123}I$, $^{99m}Tc$, and $^{18}F-FDG$, which are radioisotope drugs that are used directly by radiation workers in the nuclear medicine department in Korea are expected to receive a large dose of radiation in the lens in distribution and injection jobs to administer them to patients. The ED3 Active Extremity Dosimeter was used to measure the dose of the lens in the nuclear medicine and radiation workers and how much of the dose was received per 1 mCi.

소아마비 환자의 치아우식에 관한 역학적 연구 (EPIDEMIOLOGY OF DENTAL CARIES INCIDENCE IN POLIOMYELITIS CHILDREN)

  • I have studied on the dental caries incidence of 172 poliomyelitis children who are housed in rehabilitation hospital age from 3 to 13 years compared to a group of normal children. The results were as follows; 1. def rate of the poliomyelitis children was 68.63% (male 66.67%, female 71.43%) and was low value compare with that of control group of 78.64% (M 75.93%, F81.63%). 2. def index per person of poliomyelitis children was 2.37 (M 2.00, F 2.91) and was low in number compare with that of 3.29 (M 3.33, F 3.24) in control group children. 3. DMF rate of the poliomyelitis children was 59.41% (M 54.55%, F 62.79%) and was higher value than that of 48.28% (M 37.88%, F 59.96%) in control group. 4. DMF incidence per person in poliomyelitis was 1.62 (M1.48, F1.89) and was also higher in number than that of 1. 220 (M 0.85, F 1.49) in control group. 5. The dental caries incidence was higher in female than in male.

방사선 조사에 의한 유채 M6~M7세대 변이계통의 특성 (Characteristics of Mutant Lines through M6 to M7 Generation Induced by Radiation in Rapeseed (Brassica napus L.))

  • To develop new varieties of rapeseed (Brassica napus L.), the seeds of three varieties, 'Naehan', 'Tammi', and 'Halla' were irradiated with proton ion beams and gamma rays with 0 to 2,000 Gy. We had selected 9 lines in $M_5$ generation, and their useful characteristics were investigated by progressing from $M_6$ to $M_7$ generation for checking uniformity and stability. The 9 lines selected in $M_5$ generation were maintained their characteristics in terms of flowering date, maturing date, and plant height through $M_6$ to $M_7$ generations. Especially, 2 lines of NP600-1-1-198-2-1 and NP1000-13-2-362-4-1 selected in $M_5$ generation derived from 'Naehan' had characteristics of early maturity and shorter stem than original variety, and they also were maintained characteristic of early maturity such as 10~11 days earlier flowering date and 6~9 days earlier maturing date through $M_6$ to $M_7$ generations. For stem length, they showed characteristics of shorter stem in 2 lines of NP600-1-1-198-2-1 line and NP1000-13-2-362-4-1 line about 16%, 25% shorter stem than original variety respectively through $M_6$ to $M_7$ generations. Furthermore, some characteristics of 2 lines compared to the original variety were similar or higher in weight of 1,000 seeds, number of branches per plant, number of siliqua per panicle, number of seeds per silique, oil contents, and oleic acid contents. The line with large and plump flowers selected in $M_5$ generation also showed large and dark yellow flowers through $M_6$ to $M_7$ generations. The lines with High oleic acid and low saturated fatty acid contents selected in $M_5$ generation were maintained characteristics through $M_6$ to $M_7$ generation and these useful characteristics were expected for developing a new variety for bio diesel uses.

중완(中脘)에 시술(施術)한 맥아약침(麥芽藥鍼)이 고지방성(高脂肪性) 식이(食餌)로 유발된 비만(肥滿) 백서(白鼠)에 미치는 영향(影響) (The Effects of Herbal Acupuncture(Fructus Hordei Germiniatus) at Acupoint Jung-wan($CV_{12}$) on the Obese Rats Induced by High Fat Diet)

  • Objectives : This research was performed to investigate the effects of Fructus Hordei Germiniatus-herbal acupuncture(HA; herbal acupuncture) at acupoint Jung-wan($CV_{12}$) on weight gain, food consumption, food efficiency, serum of lipid concentrations and liver function of rats fed high fat diet for 7weeks. Methods : Experimental groups were divided into high fat diet group(Control), high fat diet and saline injection at acupoint $CV_{12}$ treated group(Saline), high fat diet and Fructus Hordei Germiniatus-HA at acupoint $CV_{12}$ treated groups. According to HA concentration, HA groups were classified into 4 groups ; HA-1($0.108mg/g/m{\ell}$), HA-2($0.054mg/g/m{\ell}$), HA-3($0.022mg/g/m{\ell}$), HA-4($0.011mg/g/m{\ell}$). HA was treated at $20{\mu}{\ell}$ per 4days, total 12times in 49days. Results : 1. Body weight per week was significantly decreased in HA-1, HA-2, HA-3 and HA-4 And body weight per day was significantly decreased in HA-3. 2. Food consumption per week was significantly decreased in HA-1, HA-2, HA-3 and HA-4. 3. Food efficiency per week was significantly decreased in HA-2, HA-3 and HA-4 And food efficiency per day was significantly decreased in HA-3. 4. The level of serum total cholesterol was significantly decreased in HA-1 and HA-3 And the level of serum HDL-cholesterol was significantly decreased in HA-1. 5. The level of serum triglyceride was significantly decreased in HA-1, HA-2, HA-3 and HA-4. And the level of serum total bilirubin was significantly decreased in HA-1and HA-2. 6. The level of serum AST was significantly decreased in HA-2 and HA-3 And the level of serum ALT, r-GTP were significantly decreased in HA-2. Conclusions : According to the above results, Fructus Hordei Germiniatus-HA at acupoint $CV_{12}$ can control body weight, food consumption, food efficiency, serum lipid concentrations and liver function. Asthe same time this kind of Fructus Hordei Germiniatus-HA does not seem to be injurious on liver function. To use Fructus Hordei Germiniatus-HA for obesity, further studies about their underlying mechanism may be needed.

재조합 효모를 이용한 사람 H-Chain 교 L-Chain Ferritin의 생산 (Heterologous Expression of Human Ferritin H-chain and L-chain Genes in Saccharomyces cerevisiae)

  • 본 연구에서는 유도성 promoter인 GAL1과 상시성 promoter인 GPD와 ADH1 promoter 하류에 사람 ferritin H-chain 유전자(hfL) 및 사람 ferritin L-chain 유전자(hfL)를 연결하여 재조합 plasmid를 구축하고 이들을 S. cerevisiae 2805에 형질 전환시켜 외래 유전자를 성공적으로 발현시켰다. Ferritin 발현에 미치는 promoter의 영향을 비교한 바, 이 두 단백질 생간에 있어서 GAL1 promoter가 GPD나 ABH1 promoter 보다 더 효율적이었다. GAL1 promoter를 사용한 형질 전환체 (YG-H와 YG-L)에서 H-chain의 발현율은 전체 수용성 단백질 중 4.5%에 해당하였고, L-chain의 발현율은 9.8%에 이르렀다. 각 균주에서 발현된 H 및 L subunit은 비변성 젤은 사용한 전기 영동의 결과 대장균에서 생산된 재조합 단백질과 마찬가지로 자발적으로 holoprotein으로 조합되어졌다. 재조합 H-와 L-ferritin들은 단백질 내공에 철을 축적할 수 있음이 Prussian blue 염색으로 확인되었다. 그리고 효모 세포를 10 mM ferric citrate를 함유한 배지에서 배양했을 때, H-ferritin과 L-ferritin을 생산하는 재조합 효모 균주에 있어서의 펄의 농도는 각각 174.9 $\mu\textrm{g}$ Per gram(dry cell weight)과 148.8 $\mu\textrm{g}$ Per gram(dry cell weight)이었고 야생형 효모 균주에 있어서의 털의 농도는 49.4 $\mu\textrm{g}$ Per gram(dry cell weight)이었다. 이것은 사람 ferritin 유전자를 효모 균주에 발현시킴으로써 효모의 철 함량이 증진되었음을 유추하는 결과이다.

성목기 '감홍'/M.9 사과나무의 착과수준이 고두증상 및 과실품질에 미치는 영향 (Influence of Crop Load on Bitter pit incidence and Fruit Quality of 'Gamhong'/M.9 Adult Apple Trees)

  • BACKGROUND: The 'Gamhong' cultivar, middle season apple with big fruit size and high soluble solid content, has been bred in Korea. However, it was hard to cultivate the cultivar in Korea by serious bitter pit. The relationships between shoot growth, fruit size, and bitter pit may be affected by crop load. This study was conducted for 2 years (7~8 years after planting) to investigate vegetative growth, fruit quality, bitter pit incidence, return bloom, and gross income for optimum crop load of 'Gamhong'/M.9 adult apple tree. METHODS AND RESULTS: The crop load was assigned to 4 different object ranges as follow: 45~64, 65~84, 85~104, and 105~124 fruits per tree. The vegetative growth, average fruit weight, percentage of fruits heavier than 375 g, soluble solid content, and return bloom increased significantly at the crop load range of 45~64 fruits. However, the lowest total gross income per tree may have been caused by the highest bitter pit incidence and the lowest yield per tree in any other crop load range. The total gross income and yield per tree increased significantly at the crop load range of 105~124 fruits and return bloom dropped to 40%, and hence it was possible to occur biennial bearing. It was 85~104 fruits that biennial bearing did not occur and total gross income was as high as the crop load range of 105~124 fruits. Also, the yield of high grade fruits per tree, with fruit weight of 400~499 g and none bitter pit on fruit surface, was highest at the crop load range of 85~104 fruits, compared to other crop load range. CONCLUSION: In considering fruit size, bitter pit incidence, return bloom, and gross income, the optimum crop load range of 'Gamhong'/M.9 adult apple tree in high density orchard was 85~104 fruits per tree.
