The thermal distributions near the growth interface of 150mm CZ crystals were measured by three thermocouples installed at the center, middle (half radius) and edge (10m from surface) of the crystals. The results show that larger growth rates produced smaller thermal gradients. This contradicts the widely used heat flux balance equation. Using this fact, it si confirmed in CZ crystals that the type of point defects created is determined by the value of the thermal gradient (G) near the interface during growth, as already reported for FZ crystals. Although depending on the growth systems the effective lengths of the thermal gradient for defect generation are varied, were defined the effective length as 10mm from the interface in this experiment. If the G is roughly smaller than 20C/cm, vacancy rich CZ crystals are produced. If G is larger than 25C/cm, the species of point defects changes dramatically from vacancies to interstitial. The experimental results which FZ and CZ crystals are detached from the melt show that growth interfaces are filled with vacancy. We propose that large G produces shrunk lattice spacing and in order to relax such lattice excess interstitial are necessary. Such interstitial recombine with vacancies which were generated at the growth interface, next occupy interstitial sites and residuals aggregate themselves to make stacking faults and dislocation loops during cooling. The shape of the growth interface is also determined by the distributions of G across the interface. That is, the small G and the large G in the center induce concave and convex interfaces to the melt, respectively.
When a plane shockwave reflects ken a concave wall, it is focused at a certain location, resulting in extremely high local pressure and temperature. This focusing is due to a nonlinear phenomenon of shock wave. The focusing phenomenon has been extensively applied to many diverse folds of engineering and medical treatment as well. In the current study, the focusing of shock wave over a reflector is numerically investigated using a CFD method. The Harten-Yee total variation diminishing (TVD) scheme is used to solve the unsteady, two-dimensional, compressible, Euler equations. The incident shock wave Mach number $M_{s}\;of\;1.1{\~}l.3$ is applied to the parabolic reflectors with several different depths. Detailed focusing characteristics of the shock wave are investigated in terms of peak pressure, gasdynamic and geometrical foci. The results obtained are compared with the previous experimental results. The results obtained show that the peak pressure of shock wave focusing and its location strongly depend on the magnitude of the incident shock wave and depth of parabolic reflector. It is also found that depending up on the depth of parabolic reflector, the weak shock wave focusing process can classified into three distinct patterns : the reflected shock waves do not intersect each other before and after focusing, the reflected shock waves do not intersect each other before focusing, but intersect after focusing, and the reflected shock waves intersect each other before and after focusing. The predicted Schlieren images represent the measured shock wave focusing with a good accuracy.
The 26S proteasome is a 2-MDa complex with a central role in protein turn over. The 26S proteasome is comprised of one 20S core particle and two 19S regulatory particles (RPs). The RPN12a protein, a non-ATPase subunit of the 19S RP, was previously shown to be involved in cytokinin signaling in Arabidopsis. To further investigate cellular roles of RPN12a, RNAi transgenic plants of RPN12a were constructed. As expected, the 35S:RNAi-RPN12a plants showed cytokinin signaling defective phenotypes, including abnormal formation of leaves and inflorescences. Furthermore, RNAi knock-down transgenic plants exhibited additional unique phenotypes, including concave and heart-shape cotyledons, triple cotyledons, irregular and clustered guard cells, and defects in phyllotaxy, all of which are typical for defective cytokinin signaling. We next examined the mRNA level of cytokinin signaling components, including type-A ARRs, type-B ARRs, and CRFs. The expression of type-A ARRs, encoding negative regulators of cytokinin signaling, was markedly reduced in 35S:RNAi-RPN12a transgenic plants relative to that in wild type plants, while type-B ARRs and CRFs were unaffected. Our results also indicate that in vivo stability of the ARR5 protein, a negative regulator of cytokinin signaling, is mediated by the 26S proteasome complex. These results suggest that RPN12a participates in feedback inhibitory mechanism of cytokinin signaling through modulation of the abundance of ARR5 protein in Arabidopsis.
In this paper, we have studied the effect of mechanical polishing to Ga-polar face for reducing the wafer bowing and strain in free-standing GaN. After the mechanical polishing to Ga-polar face, the bowing of the free-standing GaN substrate significantly decreased with increasing the size of diamond slurry, and eventually changed the bowing direction from concave to convex. Furthermore, the full width at half maximum (FWHM) of high-resolution X-ray diffraction (HR-XRD) were decreased, especially the FWHM of (1 0 2) reflection for $1.0{\mu}m$ size of diamond slurry was significantly decreased from 630 to 203 arcsec. In the case, we confirmed that the compressive strain in Ga-polar face was fully released by Raman measurement.
This paper deals with an automated forming sequence design system by which designers can determine desirable operation sequences even if they have little experience in the design of cold forging process. The forming sequence design in the cold forging is very important and requires many kinds of technical and empirical knowledge. They system isproposed, which generates forming sequence plans for the multistage cold forging of axisymmtrical solid products. Since the process of metal forming can be considered as a transformation of geometry, treatment of the geometry of the product is a key in planning process. To recognize the geometry of the product section, section entity representation and primitive geometries were used. Section entity representation can be used for the calculation of maximum diameter, maximum height, and volume. Forming sequence for the part can be determined by means of primitive geometries such as cylinder, cone, convex, and concave. By utilizing this geometrical characteristics (diameter, height, and radius), the product geometry is expressed by a list of the priitive geometries. Accordingly the forming sequence design is formulated as the search problem which starts with a billet geometry and finishes with a given product one. Using the developed system, the sequence drawing with all dimensions, which includes the proper sequence of operations for the part, is generated under the environment of AutoCAD. Based on the results of forming sequence, process variables(strain, punch pressure, die inner pressure, and forming load) are determined.
