This paper presents a novel adaptive control method for DC-DC converters applied in PV generator systems. We derive an state-space average model of the converter system and then propose a adaptive control methodology to enhance transient response performance for time-varying PV systems. A well-knwon Lyapunov theory is utilized for constructing our control algorithm. Numerical simulation demonstrates reliability of our control methodology and its superiority by comparison to a traditional control strategy.

SRM(Switched Reluctance Motor) drives require the accurate position information of the rotor. These informations are generally provided by a tacho generator or digital shaft-position encoder These speed sensors lower the system reliability and require special attention to noise. This paper describes a new approach to estimating SRM speed from measured terminal voltages and currents for speed sensorless control. The described method is based on the sliding mode observer. The rotor speed and position observers are estimated by the adaptation law using the real and estimated currents. However, the conventional adaptive sliding mode observer based on the variable structure control theory has some disadvantages that the estimated values including the high-frequency chattering and the steady state error generated due to the infinite feedback gain chosen and the discontinuous control input. To reduce the chattering and steady state error, an integrator is also inserted in the sliding mode observer strategy. The described adaptive sliding mode observer decreases the vibration to the switching hyper-plane of the sliding mode by adding integrator. The described methodology incorporates the Lyapunov algorithm to drive the rotor speed and the stator resistance such that it can overcome the problem of sensitivity in the face of SRM parameter variation. Also, without any mechanical information. The rotor speed of SRM is obtained form adaptive scheme. The described method is verified through the simulation and experiment.

In this paper, we present a reduced-order parameter-dependent robust $H_{\infty}$ filter design method for discrete-time singular systems with polytopic uncertainties. A BRL(bounded real lemma) for parameter-dependent singular systems is derived from a parameter-dependent Lyapunov function. On the basis of the obtained BRL, low order robust $H_{\infty}$ filter design method is presented by polytopic approach, new reduced-order method, and LMI(linear matrix inequality) technique. Finally, a numerical example is presented to illustrated the feasibility of the proposed method.

This paper proposes a robust adaptive fuzzy tracking control scheme for a nonholonomic mobile robot with external disturbances as well as parameter uncertainties in the robot kinematics, the robot dynamics, and the actuator dynamics. In modeling a mobile robot, the actuator dynamics is integrated with the robot kinematics and dynamics so that the actuator input voltages are the control inputs. The presented controller is designed based on a FBFN (Fuzzy Basis Function Network) to approximate an unknown nonlinear dynamic function with the uncertainties, and a robust adaptive input to overcome the uncertainties. When the controller is designed, the different parameters for two actuator models in the actuator dynamics are taken into account. The proposed control scheme does not require the kinematic and dynamic parameters of the robot and actuators accurately. It can also alleviate the input chattering and overcome the unknown friction force. The stability of the closed-loop control system including the kinematic control system is guaranteed by using the Lyapunov stability theory and the presented adaptive laws. The validity and robustness of the proposed control scheme are shown through a computer simulation.

In photovoltaic(PV) generator systems, DC-DC converters are significantly considered for control system performance in power quality point of view. This paper presents a novel adaptive control method for DC-DC converters applied in PV generator systems. First, we derive a state-space average model of the converter system and then propose a reset control methodology to enhance transient response performance for time-varying PV systems. For estimating parameters of a reset control, a gradient descent optimization is utilized and an adjustment rule of them are derived respectively. An objective of the optimization is that characteristic equation of an augmented system model which is formed with an converter system model and an reset control is to trace a predefined polynomial given as a reference characteristic model. Next, we accomplish stability analysis by means of a well-known Lyapunov theory for nonlinear converter systems including time-varying voltage excitation from a PV generator. Numerical simulation demonstrates reliability of our control methodology and its superiority by comparison to a traditional control strategy.

In the control of robot manipulators, this paper presents a design of a new variable structure model following controller(VSMFC) using computed torque method (CTM). A sufficient condition for the existence of a sliding mode is derived by Lyapunov function. The reference model is a double integrators and the acceleration input consists of a proportional-derivative controller for the purpose of the stabilization of system and the desired performance. The proposed control scheme which consists of upper bounded and estimated value of each term of the manipulator of matrix inversion. Therefore the simulation results show that this controller is improved to the convergence of desired trajectories.
This present work focuses on the influence of nonlinearities associated with impact on the rocking behavior of a rigid body block subjected to a two-dimensional excitation in the horizontal and vertical directions. The nonlinearities in rocking system are found to be strongly dependent on the impact between the block and the base that abruptly reduces the kinetic energy. In this study, the rocking systems of the two types are considered : The first is an undamped rocking system model that disregards the energy dissipation during the impact and the second is a damped rocking system, which incorporates energy dissipation during the impact. The response analysis is carried out by a numerical method using a non-dimensional rocking equation in which the variations in the excitation levels are considered. Chaos responses are observed over a wide range of parameter values, and particularly in the case of large vertical displacements, the chaotic characteristics are observed in the time histories, Poincare sections, the power spectral density and the largest Lyapunov exponents of the rocking responses. Complex behavior characteristics of rocking responses are illustrated by the Poincare sections.

In this paper, a new scheme of adaptive-neuro control system is presented to implement real-time control of robot manipulator using Digital Signal Processors. Digital signal processors, DSPs, are micro-processors that are particularly developed for fast numerical computations involving sums and products of measured variables, thus it can be programmed and executed through DSPs. In addition, DSPs are as fast in computation as most 32-bit micro-processors and yet at a fraction of therir prices. These features make DSPs a viable computational tool in digital implementation of sophisticated controllers. Unlike the well-established theory for the adaptive control of linear systems, there exists relatively little general theory for the adaptive control of nonlinear systems. Adaptive control technique is essential for providing a stable and robust perfor-mance for application of robot control. The proposed neuro control algorithm is one of learning a model based error back-propagation scheme using Lyapunov stability analysis method. The proposed adaptive-neuro control scheme is illustrated to be a efficient control scheme for the implementation of real-time control of robot system by the simulation and experi-ment.

Recently, there are many studies, that considering green wireless cellular networks, have taken the energy consumption of the base station (BS) into consideration. In this work, we first introduce an energy consumption model of multi-mode sharing BS powered by multiple energy sources including renewable energy, local storage and power grid. Then communication load requests of the BS are transformed to energy demand queues, and battery energy level and worst-case delay constraints are considered into the virtual queue to ensure the network QoS when our objective is to minimize the long term electricity cost of BSs. Lyapunov optimization method is applied to work out the optimization objective without knowing the future information of the communication load, real-time electricity market price and renewable energy availability. Finally, linear programming is used, and the corresponding energy efficient scheduling policy is obtained. The performance analysis of our proposed online algorithm based on real-world traces demonstrates that it can greatly reduce one day's electricity cost of individual BS.
The pounding phenomenon in adjacent structures happens in severing earthquakes that can cause great damages. Connecting neighboring structures with active and semi-active control devices is an effective method to avoid mutual colliding between neighboring buildings. One of the most important issues in control systems is applying online control force. There will be a time delay if the prose of producing control force does not perform on time. This paper proposed a time-delay compensation method in coupled structures control, with semi-active Magnetorheological (MR) damper. This method based on Newmark's integration is adopted to mitigate the time-delay effect. In this study, Lyapunov's direct approach is employed to compute demanded voltage for MR dampers. Using Lyapunov's direct algorithm guarantees the system stability to design a controller based on feedback. Because of the strong nonlinearity of MR dampers, the equation of motion of coupled structures becomes an involved equation, and it is impossible to solve it with the common time step methods. In present paper modified Newmark-Beta integration based on the instantaneous optimal control algorithm, used to solve the involved equation. In this method, the response of a coupled system estimated base on optimal control force. Two MDOF structures with different degrees of freedom are finally considered as a numeric example. The numerical results show, the Newmark compensation is an efficient method to decrease the negative effect of time delay in coupled systems; furthermore, instantaneous optimal control algorithm can estimate the response of structures suitable.
