IEEE 802.15.4 is a global standard designed for emerging applications in low-rate wireless personal area networks (LR-WPANs). The standard provides beneficial features, such as a beacon-enabled mode and guaranteed time slots for realtime data delivery. However, how to optimally operate those features is still an open issue. For the optimal operation of the features, this paper proposes a holistic optimization method that jointly optimizes three cross-related problems: cluster-tree construction, nodes' power configuration, and duty-cycle scheduling. Our holistic optimization method provides a solution for those problems so that all the real-time packets can be delivered within their deadlines in the most energy-efficient way. Our simulation study shows that compared to existing methods, our holistic optimization can guarantee the on-time delivery of all real-time packets while significantly saving energy, consequently, significantly increasing the lifetime of the network. Furthermore, we show that our holistic optimization can be extended to take advantage of the spatial reuse of a radio frequency resource among long distance nodes and, hence, significantly increase the entire network capacity.

The main noise sources in SMPS are divided into three parts: the switching devices, the rectifiers in secondary part, the output transformer and choke coil. In this paper we performed the noise analysis with respect to bobbin type and winding method, and designed an optimized transformer focusing on the transformer. For the comparison. we measured four parameters for each cases, including EMI conducted emission noise. signal from the switching devices, output ripple/noise voltage and leakage current. As the result, the transformer using a vertically-typed bobbin and a parallel, sandwich winding method showed the best performance. We confirmed that the SMPS developed in this research is satisfied with the IEC 601-1 international standard for the medical instrumentation. by testing its electrical characteristics and safety.

lateral insulated gate bipolar transistors(LIGBTs) are extensively used in high voltage power IC application due to their low forward voltage drops. One of the main disadvantages of the LIGBT is its scow switching speed when compared to the LDMOSFET. And the LIGBT with reverse channel structure is lower current capability than the conventional LIGBT at the forward conduction mode. In this paper, the LIGBT which included p+ ring and p-channel gate is presented at the reverie channel structure. The presented LIGBT structure is proposed to suppress the latch up, efficiently and to improve the turn off time. It is shown to improve the current capability too. It is verified 2-D simulator, MEDICI. It is shown that the latch up current of new LIGBT is 10 times than that of the conventional LIGBT Additionally, it is shown that the turn off characteristics of the proposed LIGBT is i times than that of the conventional LIGBT. It is net presented the tail current of turn off characteristics at the proposed structure. And the presented LIGBT is not n+ buffer layer because it includes p channel gate and p+ ring.

In this study, it was investigated that the characteristics of startup and compatibility using several type hot and cold gases. The characteristics of starting LRE by pyro starter was compared with that by a He spinner. The compatibility of pyre gas, a gaseous He, H2+N2 mixture gas, and air was investigated by a simple 1D turbine analysis considered the properties of each gases and turbine efficiency. Most of them were compatible to start up the LRE but air was properly used only when the turbine was low power mode.

In this paper, the circuit of AC Choppers for $CO_2$ laser power supply are proposed and investigated. IGBT-controlled ac voltage regulators, operating at high frequency chopping mode. Chopping-to-supply duty ratio plays an important role in terms of laser output. Laser input energy is varied by controlling the leakage transformer used with the proposed system. This improved circuit employs a 3 electrode - type and Ring Blower. This improved circuit system has many advantages compared with the conventional SMPS such as simple design requirement, easy implementation, high reliability, low switching loss, and consequently high efficiency. As a result, the maximun output was 16W at duty-ratio of 92%, total gas mixture of $CO_2$ : $N_2$ : He = 1 : 9 : 15, total pressure of 15torr.

Stepper motor is widely used in positioning applications due to its durability and high torque to inertia ratio as well as low cost and ability to be easily controlled with open-loop. Due to increased resolution of position control and improved stability of motion control, microstepping has drawn attention in industry since it was introduced in 1970s. With the increase in computational power and decrease in cost of embedded processors in recent years, drives and control systems for stepper motors have become more sophisticate than ever. Thus, closed-loop control methods have been developed to improve the performance of the stepper motors. In this paper, we review not only basic principles of conventional control methods used for stepper motors but also that of microstepping control. In addition, we surveyed recent development in nonlinear control methods applied to stepper motors. The nonlinear control methods are presented in the view of Lyapunov stability. Nonlinear torque disturbance observer, sliding mode control, and nonlinear phase compensation are also presented.

This paper describes a 128-channel hardware simulator that is useful for verification and testing of digital circuits. It performs logic analyzer function and signal generator function at the same time. The core module, which implements one channel of the simulator, operates as a controller with independent memory and internal mode. Therefore, we can easily extend the number of channels with addition of core module. Moreover, since the simulator was implemented as a PC based system, one can construct a low-cost system and can configure convenient GUI(Graphic User Interface) environment. The simulator implemented using FPGA operates at 50Mhz and consumes 55W power as average.
A constant temperature type of flow sensor using a solid state micromachining technology was developed for measuring the velocity of gas or liquid. It was designed to detect only the heat convection related to flow velocity. Other heat transfer terms and common mode interferences are canceled by differentiating both reference and exposed flow sensor. It employs the principle that the change of current through the sensing element can be used to measure the flow velocity. An experimental study of the behavior on this flow sensor was performed in a narrow tube(diameter : 8mm) for city water. The relation between power consumption of the flow sensor and square-root of flow velocity is almost linear in the low velocity range(0-200 cm/sec).

Many studies have been investigated on high density plasma source (Electron Cyclotron Resonance[ECR], Inductively Coupled Plasma[ICP], Helicon plasma) for large area source after It is announced that productivity of plasma process depends on plasma density. Among them, Some researchers have been studied on multiple sources In this study, we attempted to determine the possibility of multiple inductively coupled plasma (ICP), and helicon plasma sources for large-area processes. Experiments were performed with the one and two coils to measure plasma and electrical parameters, and a circuit simulation was performed to measure the current at each coil in the 2-coil experiment. Based on the result, we could determine the possibility of multiple ICP sources due to a direct change of impedance due to current and saturation of impedance due to the skin-depth effect. However, a helicon plasma source is difficult to adapt to the multiple sources due to the consistent change of real impedance due to mode transition and the low uniformity of the B-field confinement. As a result, it is expected that ICP can be adapted to multiple source for large-area processes.

This paper presents a study of low frequencies volume velocity vibration control of a smart panel in order to reduce sound transmission. A distributed piezoelectric quadratically shaped polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) polymer film is used as a uniform force actuator and an array of $4\;{\times}\;4$ accelerometer is used as a volume velocity sensor for the implementation of a single-input single-output control system. The theoretical and experimental study of sensor-.actuator frequency response function shows that this sensor-actuator arrangement provides a required strictly positive real frequency response function below about 900 Hz. Direct velocity feedback could therefore be implemented with a limited gain which gives reductions of about 15 dB in vibration level and about 8 dB in acoustic power level at the (1,1) mode of the smart panel. It has been also shown that the shaping error of PVDF actuator could limit the stability and performance of the control system.
