  • In this thesis, I examined the characteristics of modernism in this work, focusing on the melodrama "Sarang ye soggo donye wulgo(means 'Crying in Love and Crying for Money')", which was popular in the 30s when the consciousness of modernity was overflowing. There has never been an example of a connection between modernism and drama in the 1930s. The characteristic of modernism is clearly embedded in the representative drama of "Sarang ye soggo donye wulgo(means 'Crying in Love and Crying for Money')" at that time. In the title "Sarang ye soggo donye wulgo(means 'Crying in Love and Crying for Money')". 'Don' reveals modern elements. 'Love' can be seen as revealing melodramatic elements. The flair of modern art, which is a background to reveal modern elements, is spread throughout the works. Hongdo fails to complete the relationship with his family, as well as with the couple. It became a person who accepted the modernistic phenomenon by showing the domination of matter. While the typical method of constructing conflicts in the pre-modern narrative works is horizontal and sequential, it can be said that it was in the form of a train station, while the post-modern era of narrative conflict formation from the 30s forms a plurality of conflicts simultaneously, can do. The fear of the ordinary people who see the reality that urban and western values are already rampant by attempting new contents that lead the change of values in "Sarang ye soggo donye wulgo(means 'Crying in Love and Crying for Money')" became a factor to transfer into internal conflict again.

  • This study investigated the effects of a brief Loving-Kindness and Compassion Meditation(20 minutes) on compassionate love and altruism of undergraduate students. Among the 187 students who were completed the KIIP-SC, 35 of high scored students in Interpersonal Problem Scale were randomly assigned to one of two different groups: Loving-Kindness and Compassion Meditation group(LCM, n=19) and Imagery Trainning group(IT, n=16). During the 20 minutes of practice, LCM group was asked to practice loving-kindness and compassion meditation and IT group was asked to investigate personal characteristics of the imagined people who were same as LCM. Compassionate love, four immeasurebles, two kind of altruistic behaviors, and mood states were measured pre- and post-treatment. LCM group showed significantly higher incremental scores for compassionate love, donation for strange person, and helping behaviors for friends, for close person, and for stranger than IT group. Negative and positive mood states were improved for each of the groups, but there was no significant differences between groups. The results suggested that the comparatively short practice of loving-kindness and compassion meditation could increase altruistic attitudes and intentions toward other persons. And, these effects could not be attributed to mood effects. Limitations of this study and the directions of further research were discussed.

  • This study begins with focus on the public opinion and political views on embracing Yemeni refugees in Jeju. The public opinion is demanding amendment or even abolition of the Refugee Act. The argument opposing Yemeni refugees is persuasive enough in terms of public order and safety, cultural conflicts and economic interests, but it is going against the universal and authentic values that must be pursued by a forward-looking society. It is natural that the power exerting political discretion keeps an eye on public opinion. However, no matter how many people express it, unjustified public opinion must not be a foundation for political decision. This study will examine the shadows of public opinion and related concepts for those reasons, and review Augustine's concept of 'love' as a value to refer to in making a communal decision. Conflicts lead to insecurity and rift. Without sensus communis (common sense), the rift will not be healed. This study raises the need to resolve such conflicting state and seeks insight from Augustine.

  • The Greek sculptor, Pygmalion, created a sculpture which was perfect in shape and fell in love with it. He prayed the goddess of love, Venus to transform it into a real woman. She answered his asking, and he finally got married to her. In Bernard Shaw's movie, , the linguist, Dr. Higgins, brought a street girl, Eliza Doolittle to his home and educated her standard London dialect and upper-class manners. Unlike the Greek sculptor, Higgins changed not only her appearance but also her inner identity, then she became 'a new woman' of the age. Abby in seems to live a successful life of thorough planning and pursuing knowledge, but there is no place for her to express natural instinct and human emotion. On the other hand, Mike is a totally different type of a person from her. Like a Greek sculptor, he changes her into a woman who can truly understand other people from her heart and listen to what her inner-self says to her. The Greek myth metaphorically suggests the way to build true relationships between people of all times.

  • Visual art elements can most intuitively express the information expressed by a game character and play an important role in shaping a successful game character. We compares and analyzes the role design in the skins of the "Five Tiger-like Generals" series in Glory of Kings in terms of color, line, graphic and other visual elements. Different visual elements form different visual impacts and influences, which brings people different psychological feelings and presents different emotional colors. The reasonable use of visual elements gives people a refined visual experience and a comfortable psychological feeling, adding more influencing factors to the "immersion" of the game. It not only can strongly attract the attention and love of players, but also spreads traditional culture of the nation and the country. Therefore, whether the visual art elements of a game character can be appropriately used is an important part of the success of the game work. The analysis of visual art elements of game characters has important learning and research value.

  • In this study, we attempt to explore various possible types of unmarried single women. Main purpose of the work is to find out possible types of unmarried single women in terms of their subjective views on single life based on Q methodology. Q methodology is a research method to study and understand people's "subjectivity" or their points of view. Here, we applied Q methodology to unmarried single women's subjective evaluation of their own lives. Thirty-one Q-questions were prepared through literature review, and were offered to eighteen unmarried single women. As a result, the subjects could be classified into the following five different types: (Type 1) 'I love my work but I hate pressure (for marriage) from others', (Type 2) 'I feel anxiety and stress (on marriage) but I am still waiting for a true love of mine', (Type 3) 'My life is most important and I'd rather enjoy my single life without restraint from others', (Type 4) 'I am weary of continuing my single life, and now I really want to get married and form a family', (Type 5) 'I don't feel comfortable with dating, marriage life etc, I'd rather continue my single life with less stress'.

  • Nguyễn Nhật Ánh and Yoshimoto Banana are authors from two different literary movements, cultures, and countries. Their works are all best-sellers and have received many prestigious awards. Comparing their works from the perspective of shoujo manga, we can see that there are many similarities between them. Regarding the concept of composition, they all want to create works that are accessible to the majority of the public. Therefore, they choose topics which are close and attractive to mass readers as well as simple style, characters, literary devices, artistic space and time that are famous in shoujo - a popular art form of Japan. However, the ideological content in the works of both is not explicit and simple, but expresses the eternal feelings and values of humanity such as love for people, love for the homeland, country, reflecting the depths of both the conscious and the subconscious as well as profound aesthetic and philosophical values, profound aesthetic and philosophical values. Their works present the trend of interference between popular culture and elite literature. We can draw lessons for young writers, cultural managers and a wide audience from the success of these two writers.

  • North Korea has conserved operas in a selective manner. The subject matters of operas recorded in the history of North Korea can be divided into classical tales, translated foreign works, Korean War and war against Japan. Operas that adapted folk classics of the 1950s are considered valuable materials to verify the changes of genres posterior to division of regime between North and South Korea. The officially confirmed works include "Kumgangsan Palseonnyeo (Gyeonwoo Jiknyeo)," "Chunhyangjeon." "Kongjwi Patjwi (Kotsin)," "Ondal," and "Geumnaneui Dal." These works had gone through recreation in terms of realistic situation setting, abolition of class difference, adjustment of social rank and punishment of evil while the base lies in the original folk classics. People emphasized in adapted folk operas are described as those who are hard-working souls without giving importance of difference of social rank, content with the currently living space, devoted to their parents and full of patriotic spirit, and members of community who participate in organized fights against unfair exploitation. This was the fruit of encouragement of work creation supporting union between labor and individual life, destruction of old things and fight promoting this destruction. Folk operas of South and North Korea posterior to Korean War have similarities in that both deal with a love story transcending social ranks and the concomitant conflicts and they focus on the audience who enjoy the operas. Nonetheless, they are different in that this love in North Korea became a tool of educating people wished by the regime, while it became an object of securing the audience by adding the tragic element to love in South Korea. North Korean operas of the initial stage are characterized by playwriting method emphasizing difficult life and compensation of common people, realistic stage expression, accentuation of melody and agreement between notes and lyrics. This was efforts designed to continuously lead senses concentrated from the theater to everyday life of people. In effect, this is in line with the playwriting method of revolutionary operas. Adapted folk operas were subject matters ideal for easily approaching the audience and leaving them good memories at the same time. To realize socialist realism, they went through an experiment of reviewing "people" through the classic folk operas. The possibility of continuation of a work was determined by thorough evaluation after carrying out an experiment in terms of subject matters, theme, music and operation plans from the moment of which the work was on the stage. The sign consisted in the possibility of visit of "Kim Il-sung" to appreciate the work and presentation of directionality. By proposing the clear directionality of which hard-working people who deny social status system can be duly compensated, it encouraged the audience who saw the opera to voluntarily put this in practice. Thus, operas established the directionality through selective processes for creating public communion even before revolutionary operas.
