With recent trends leaning towards product miniaturization, the advent of new material and speedy delivery times, old style conventional trial-and-error methods have been only serving to weaken corporate competitiveness. Reliant on tiny increments of time-consuming experience, this antiquated approach begets a delayed delivery of product development, cost loss and quality depreciation. To solve such problems, the Dedicated Injection Molding CAPA (Computer Aided Plastics Application) performs a preliminary examination on problems rising from every stage of creation - from appropriate material selection and mold design to mass production - through a computer system. Thus, it determines the optimum design variables and process conditions while diagnosing and solving defective molds.

In plate mill studies on crop decrease of the top and bottom ends of hot rolled plate have been performed. The plane view shape for the thin plate after broadside rolling was controlled by roll gap difference with AGC in broadside rolling process. New models for thin slab after broadside rolling have been formulated based on the actual production rolling data to give optimal rolling condition A new plate rolling method called by dog bone rolling has been applied making it is possible to prevent non-uniform plastic deformation at top and bottom ends. By new rolling method crop losses of rolled plate have been improved by 10% on average with an effective fishtail crop shape.

The strain localization is a discontinuous phenomenon that addresses the formation of jumps of the field variables across a singularity surface. It has become widely accepted that the localization may occur as the result of discontinuous bifurcation which corresponds to the loss of ellipticity of the governing differential equations for elasto-plastic continua. In this paper, condition for strain localization in concrete based on bifurcation theory is studied and localization tensor analysis algorithm is employed to determine the directions of localization of deformations in concrete. By applying a plasticity model of concrete into the algorithm, localization analysis is performed concrete under uniaxial tension, pure shear and uniaxial compression.
In this study is proposed the advanced elasto-plastic analytical method which can identify complex structural behaviors on the splice part of steel structures such as sliding and plastic contact problem between splice plates and blots. Compliated boundary conditions and various manufacturing defects are considered in various analytical cases. In the design or repair phase the plastic behavior and ultimate strength of splice parts should be very carefully verified to extend the service life of steel structures.
To increase rolling yields by minimizing trimming losses of hot-rolled plate, optimization logic for the edger model has been developed. The logic to determine optimum edging amount model has been formulated on the basis of actual production rolling data. In case of broadside rolling, the fish tail shape at the sides of plate was better for reducing the crop loss and this could be achieved when the edging amount of broadside rolling was increased. At a given broadside rolling ratio, methodology to determine optimum edging amount for the finish rolling which could minimize the width deviation of plate were systematically derived. Therefore, for a given broadside rolling condition and the permissible tolerance in width deviation of plate, it was possible to optimize the edging amount in finish rolling to maximize rolling yields. The application of optimization logic in this study increased rolling yields from approximately 10% to 30% at various longitudinal eding raitos.
Convolution Neural Network(CNN) is a class of deep learning algorithms and can be used for image analysis. In particular, it has excellent performance in finding the pattern of images. Therefore, CNN is commonly applied for recognizing, learning and classifying images. In this study, the surface defect classification performance of Al 6061 extruded material using CNN-based algorithms were compared and evaluated. First, the data collection criteria were suggested and a total of 2,024 datasets were prepared. And they were randomly classified into 1,417 learning data and 607 evaluation data. After that, the size and quality of the training data set were improved using data augmentation techniques to increase the performance of deep learning. The CNN-based algorithms used in this study were VGGNet-16, VGGNet-19, ResNet-50 and DenseNet-121. The evaluation of the defect classification performance was made by comparing the accuracy, loss, and learning speed using verification data. The DenseNet-121 algorithm showed better performance than other algorithms with an accuracy of 99.13% and a loss value of 0.037. This was due to the structural characteristics of the DenseNet model, and the information loss was reduced by acquiring information from all previous layers for image identification in this algorithm. Based on the above results, the possibility of machine vision application of CNN-based model for the surface defect classification of Al extruded materials was also discussed.
Recently, one of remarkable tends in the development of optical communication industry is the miniaturization and integration of products. The alignment system of micro optical module is a key apparatus for the miniaturization of optical module and the development of optical communication parts with high functionality. In this research, we have developed a system capable of automatic alignment of a $30\mu\textrm{m}$-thick film filter and a lensed fiber in order to improve the speed and losses in the optical fiber-to-filter alignment of optical modules. Using the developed automatic alignment system and silicon optical bench, we have measured optical loss and characteristics of the assembled optical add/drop module before packaging $1{\times}1$ OADM optical module. Whole size of add/drop module was less than $5mm{\times}5mm{\times}1mm$. The measured maximum insertion loss was 0.294㏈ that is below 0.3㏈ which is a standard loss of optical module.

Dry sliding wear behavior of ultra-fine grained (UFG) plain low carbon dual phase steel, of which microstructure consists of hard martensite in a ductile ferrite matrix, has been investigated. The wear characteristics of the UFG dual phase steel was compared with that of a coarse grained dual phase steel under various applied load conditions. Dry sliding wear test were carried out using a pin-on-disk type tester at various loads of 1N to 100N under a constant sliding speed condition of 0.20m/s against an AISI 52100 bearing steel ball at room temperature. The sliding distance was fixed as 1000m for all wear tests. The wear rate was calculated by dividing the weight loss, measured to the accuracy of 10-5g by the specific gravity and sliding distance. The worn surfaces and wear debris were analyzed by SEM, EDS and profilometer. Micro-vickers hardness of the cross section of worn surfaces were conducted to analyze strain hardening underneath the contact surfaces. The wear mechanism of the UFG dual phase steel was investigated with emphasis on the unstable nature of the grain boundaries of the UFG microstructure.

Dry sliding wear behavior of low carbon dual phase steel, of which microstructure consists of hard martensite in a ductile ferrite matrix, has been investigated. The wear characteristics of the dual phase steel was compared with that of a plain carbon steel which was normalized at $950^{\circ}C$ for 30min and then air-cooled. Dry sliding wear tests were carried out using a pin-on-disk type tester at various loads of 1N to 10N under a constant sliding speed condition of 0.2m/sec against an AISI 52100 bearing steel ball at room temperature. The sliding distance was fixed as 1000m for all wear tests. The wear rate was calculated by dividing the weight loss measured to the accuracy of $10^{-5}g$ by the specific gravity and sliding distance. The worn surfaces and wear debris were analyzed by SEM, EDS and a profilomter. Micro vickers hardness values of the cross section of worn surface were measured to analyze strain hardening behavior underneath the wearing surfaces. The were rate of the dual phase steel was lower than the plain carbon steel. Oxidation on the sliding surface and strain hardening were attributed for the higher wear resistance of the dual phase steel.

Too little and too much water due to climatic events is a significant cause of global food insecurity. Crops are less productive under water-limited conditions and all major crops, with the exception of rice (Oryza sativa), die within a few days of complete submergence. To complement our studies on genes such as SUB1A, (an ERF-VII transcription factor that provides robust submergence tolerance) and AG1 (a TREHALOSE 6-P PHOSPHATASE that promotes establishment of young seedlings underwater), we have retooled INTACT (${\underline{I}}solation$ of ${\underline{N}}uclei$${\underline{TA}}gged$ in specific ${\underline{C}}ell$${\underline{T}}ypes$) and TRAP (${\underline{T}}ranslating$${\underline{R}}ibosome$${\underline{A}}ffinity$${\underline{P}}urification$) for rice. These technologies enable us to follow dynamics in chromatin, nuclear pre-mRNAs and ribosome-bound mRNAs in meristems and diverse cell types. With these technologies we can better interpret responses to stresses and reestablishment of homeostasis. These include stress acclimation strategies involving changes in metabolism and development, such as dynamics in suberin deposition in sub-epidermal layers of roots that limit water loss under drought and oxygen escape during waterlogging. Our new data uncover dynamic and reversible regulation at multiple levels of gene regulation and provide new insights into processes of stress resilience.
