  • Performance of micro scale intermediate temperature solid oxide fuel cell system has been successfully evaluated by computer simulation based on macro modeling. Two systems were studied in this work. The one is designed that the ceria-based electrolyte placed between composite electrodes and the other is designed that electrodes alternately placed on the electrolyte. The injected gas was composed of hydrogen and air. The polarization curve was obtained through a series of calculations for ohmic loss, activation loss and concentration loss. The calculation of each loss was based on the solving of mathematical model of multi physical-phenomena such as ion conduction, fluid dynamics and diffusion and convection by Finite Element Method (FEM). The performance characteristics of SOFC were quantitatively investigated for various structural parameters such as distance between electrodes and thickness of electrolyte.

  • Several studies have been carried out on the source contribution of the particulate Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) over Seoul by using the Chemical Mass Balance Model (CMB)(Lee and Kim, 2007; Kim et al., 2013). To confirm the validity of the modeling results, the modified model employing a photochemical loss rate along with varying residence times and the standard model that considers no loss were compared. It was found that by considering the photochemical loss rate, a better performance was obtained as compared to those obtained from the standard model in the CMB calculation. The modified model estimated higher contributions from coke oven, transportation, and biomass burning by 4 to 8%. However, the order of the relative importance of major sources was not changed, coke oven followed by transportation and biomass burning. Thus, it was concluded that the standard CMB model results are reliable for identifying the relative importance of major sources.

  • This paper presents a new modeling of the two dimensional magnetic property in soft magnetic materials for the magnetic field computations. In this modeling an approximate treatment is introduced to expand the applicable exciting frequency range. The result shows that the new modeling presented here is very useful in simplicity of magnetic field analysis.

수치 모델링을 이용한 홑자망 어구의 유실 원인 분석 (Analysis for gillnet loss in the West Sea using numerical modeling)

  • The Fishing gear loss has been repeated every year in the West Sea; however, there has been no solution. So fisher men have undergone economic loss every year. Thus it is required to reduce the loss of fishing gear. In this study to find out the reason that the fishing gear is lost in the Sea, 10 years data of wave and current for 6 locations in the West Sea were investigated and a numerical modelling were conducted into the behaviour of a gillnet in wave and current. The fishing gear was modelled with the mass spring model. As a result, it came out into the open that the location where fishing gear loss occurred most frequently was Choongnam province. The height of the maximum significant wave in this province was 6.7 m and the period of that was 4.4 second. The maximum current speed was 0.7 m/s. As a result of simulation with these data, it was revealed that the buoy is one of the reasons to decrease the holding power of the gillnet. For example, the tension of anchor rope was decreased to 50% while the drag coefficient or volume of buoy was decreased to 25%. So it is predicted that an improvement of the buoy contributes to the reduction of the gillnet loss.

임의 패킷 손실에 대한 TCP의 손실 복구 과정 모델링 및 분석 (Modeling TCP Loss Recovery for Random Packet Losses)

  • TCP Reno 는 하나의 윈도우 내에서 다수 개의 패킷 손실이 발생하는 경우 손실된 패킷들을 효율적으로 복구하는 것이 불가능한 문제점을 가지과 있다. 이 문제점을 개선하기 위해서 설계된 TCP New-Reno 는 부분 스인 패킷(partial acknowledgement)를 통해 fast recovery를 연장함으로써 다수 개의 패킷 손실이 발생하더라도 이들을 재전송에 의해 복구하는 것이 가능하다. 그러나 TCP New-Reno 역시 재전송 패킷들이 다시 손질되는 경우 불가피한 RTO(Retransmission Timeout)가 발생한다는 문제점을 가지고 있다. 이런 문제점을 개선하기 위해서 중복 승인 패킷 수를 근거로 재전송 패킷 손실을 감지할 수 있는 DAC(Duplicate Acknowledgement Counting) 알고리듬을 제안한다. TCP Reno. TCP New-Reno 그리고 DAC를 사용하는 경우에 대해 손실 복구 과정을 정확하게 모델링하고 손실된 패킷이 복구되기 위한 조건들을 유도한다. 임의 패킷 손실 확률에 대한 손실 복구 확률을 수학적으로 계산하고 이를 통해 DAC가 TCP New-Reno 의 손실 복구 기능을 향상시킬 수 있다는 것을 보인다.

  • 집광형태양광발전시스템은 집광형태양전지 셀, 모듈, PCS, 태양위치추적기, 시스템설비와 그에 따른 시스템주변창치들로 구성된다. 이러한 다양한 요소를 반영하여 시스템모델링이 이루어져 집광형태양광발전시스템에 대한 분석과 모델링방법이 적용되어야 한다. 본 논문에서 제안된 이러한 다양한 요소를 반영하여 최적의 CPV 시스템 시뮬레이션을 제안하여 집광형태양광발전시스템 모델링과 에너지의 발생분석에 대한 최적 설계가 이루어지도록 모델링에 중점 두어 설계하였다. 손실 파라미터 계산 방법에 관한 일반화된 집광형태양광발전시스템의 계산된 시뮬레이션 결과는 높은 신뢰성과 안정성을 갖는 집광형태양광발전시스템의 최적의 설계가 가능하다. 손실 파라미터 계산 방법은 CPV 시스템 설계의 경제적 분석을 위한 시뮬레이션 및 다양한 데이터 활용을 위한 시뮬레이션방법을 활용할 수 있다.

SWAT-EFDC 연계 모델링을 통한 입장저수지의 유사 해석 (Modeling Sedimentation Process in Ipjang Reservoir using SWAT and EFDC)

  • Reservoir sedimentation is a major environmental issue, and various sediment load controls and plans have been proposed to secure clean and safe water resources. The objectives of this study were to estimate soil loss in the upper basins and predict sediment deposition in Ipjang reservoir using hydrologic and hydraulic model. To do so, SWAT (Soil and Water Assessment Tool) and EFDC (Environmental Fluid Dynamics Code) was used to estimate soil loss in two upper basins and to predict spatial distribution and amount of sediment deposition in the Ipjang reservoir, respectively. The hydrologic modeling results showed that annual average soil loss from the upper basins was 500 ton. The hydraulic modeling results demonstrated that sediment particles transported to the reservoir were mostly trapped in the vicinity of the reservoir inlet and then moved toward the bank over time. If long-term water quality monitoring and sediment survey are performed, this study can be used as a tool for predicting the dredging amount, dredging location and proper dredging cycle in the reservoir. The study findings are expected to be used as a basis to establish management solutions for sediment reduction.

고품질 적층형 인덕터를 이용한 이중 대역 GSM/DCS 대역 분리용 다이플렉서의 설계 및 제작 (Design and Fabrication of Diplexer for Dual-band GSM/DCS Application using High-Q Multilayer Inductors)

  • 본 논문에서는 안테나 스위치 모듈 내에서 GSM/DCS 대역을 분리하는 적층형 다이플렉서를 설계하였고, LTCC 기술을 이용하여 제작한 후 그 특성을 고찰하였다. 다이플렉서를 구현하기 위해 소형의 L, C 집중 수동 소자를 사용하였으며, 또한 적층형 집중 수동 소자의 구조 모델링 및 등가 회로 모델을 제안함으로써 접지면 상에서 최적의 주파수 특성을 갖는 집중 수동 소자를 얻을 수 있었다. 이를 이용하여 RF 모듈에 적용 가능한 고품질의 다이플렉서를 구현하였다. GSM 저역 통과 필터는 0.55 dB 이하의 삽입 손실, 12 dB 이상의 반사 손실 그리고 DCS 통과 대역에서 26 dB 이상의 저지 특성을 나타내었다. DCS 고역 통과 필터는 0.82 dB 이하의 삽입 손실, 11 dB 이상의 반사손실 그리고 GSM 통과 대역에서 38 dB 이상의 저지 특성을 나타내었다.

Performability Analysis of Token Ring Networks using Hierarchical Modeling

  • It is important for communication networks to possess the capability to overcome failures and provide survivable services. We address modeling and analysis of performability affected by both performance and availability of system components for a token ring network under failure and repair conditions. Stochastic reward nets (SRN) is an extension of stochastic Petri nets and provides compact modeling facilities for system analysis. In this paper, hierarchical SRN modeling techniques are used to overcome state largeness problem. The upper level model is used to compute availability and the lower level model captures the performance. And Normalized Throughput Loss (NTL) is obtained for the composite ring network for each node failures occurrence as a performability measure. One of the key contributions of this paper constitutes the Petri nets modeling techniques instead of complicate numerical analysis of Markov chains and easy way of performability analysis for a token ring network under SRN reward concepts.
