In this paper, we compare the performance of representative MIMO techniques such as space-time block code, closed-loop transmit diversity, and V-BLAST, etc., in IEEE 802.22 environments. We first develope deco-ding algorithms of the representative MIMO techniques and design a MIMO-OFDM system employing QPSK, 16 QAM, 64 QAM to cover several transmission rates. Since the frequency band used for IEEE 802.22 systems belongs mostly to V/UHF band and the angular spread of the received signal at the base station is very small, there Is a significant correlation between the signals from transmit antennas. Thus, in this paper, we compare the performance of MIMO-OFDM systems employing only two Tx antennas in correlated fading environments.
We fabricated the asymmetric Fabry-Perot etalon which contains amorphous $As_2S_3$ as a spacer layer by using the method of optical multilayer coating and observed the optical bistability with the polarization. Optical thickness of the spacer layer is 2$\lambda$ at $Ar^+$ ($\lambda $=514.5 nm) laser wavelength. Optical bistability was observed at the intensities between 80~100 mW and the experiment shows us that the trends of bistable loop of the reflected and the transmitted lights are quite different depending on the state of polarization. This phenomena can be explained as the phase differences of each polarizations are different in the nonlinear Fabry-Perot etalon.

We review three examples (an on-chip transmission line resonator [1], a phase-locked loop [2], and an analog-to-digital converter [3]) of design tradeoffs which can in fact be circumvented; the key in each case is that the parameters that seem to trade off with each other are actually separated in time or space. This paper is an attempt to present these designs in such a way that this common approach can hopefully be applied to other circuits. We note reader that this paper is not a new contribution, but a review in which we highlight the common theme from our published works [1-3]. We published a similar paper [4], which, however, used only two examples from [1] and [2]. With the newly added content from [3] in the list of our examples, the present paper offers an expanded scope.
In the measurement of proton gyromagnetic ratio by a low field cechnique, the compensation of earth's field is required to keep a zero-field space. The constant earth's fild is compensated by a cur-rent flowing through a Helmholtz coil, whereas small time-varying component is compensated automatically by a closed loop of feedback system. A feedback amplifier, and two three-dimensional Helmholtz coils having the same coil constant have been constructed in order to compensate the earth's field. field. Preliminary test performed at the ordinary laboratory showed that the time-vary-ing field of ${\pm}100nT$ and the constant field have been reduced to the level of ${\pm}10nT$ using the compensating system.

This paper presents a new approach to the problem of designing a cascaded three-parameters controller for a given linear time invariant (LTI) plant in unity feedback system. We consider a proportional-integral-derivative (PID) and a first-order controller with the specified overshoot and settling time. This problem is difficult to solve because there may be no analytical solution due to the use of low-order controller. Furthermore, the zeros of controller just appear in the zeros of feedback system. The key idea of our method is to impose a constraint on the controller parameters so that the zeros of resulting controller are distant from the dominant pole of closed-loop system to the left as far as the given interval. Two methods realizing the idea are suggested. We have employed the characteristic ratio assignment (CRA) in order to deal with the time response specifications. It is noted that the proposed methods are accomplished only in parameter space. Several illustrative examples are given.

Induction Motor (IM) has several desirable features for high performance adjustablespeed operation. This paper presents the design of a robust controller for vector control induction motor drive performances improvement. Proposed predictive speed controller, which is aimed to guarantee the stability of the closed loop, is based on the Poisson-Laguerre (PL) models for the association vector control drive and the induction motor; without necessity of any mechanical parameter, and requires only two control parameters to ensure implicitly the integrator effect on the steady state error, load torque disturbances rejection and anti-windup effect. In order to improve robustness, insensitivity against external disturbances and preserve desired performance, adaptive control is added with the aim to ensure an online identification of controller parameters through an online PL models identification. The proposed control is compared with the conventional approach using PI controller. Simulation with MATLAB/SIMULINK software and experimental results for a 1kW induction motor using a dSPACE system with DS1104 controller board are carried out to show the improvement performance.

In recent years, as changing the habit of eating, the pathology in the colon grows up annually. For that reason, the colonoscopy is generalized. But it requires much time to acquire a dexterous skill to perform an operation. And the procedure is painful to the patient. Therefore, biomedical and robotic researchers are developing a locomotive colonoscope that can travel safely in colon. In this paper, we propose a novel design and concept of semi-autonomous colonoscope and two actuators for the micro robot. The micro robot comprises camera and LED for diagnosis, steering system to pass through the loop, pneumatic actuator and bow-shaped flexible supporters to control a contact force and to keep the space between colon wall and the actuator. For actuating mechanism, we suggest two models. One is based on the reaction force, and the other is impact force. In order to validate the concept and the performance of the actuators, we carried out the preliminary experiments in rigid pipes.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic, the importance of remote work has been emphasized, and new digital technologies are rapidly being developed. One such digital technology is the metaverse, which combines reality and virtual space to create an expanded digital world. The metaverse can provide online collaborative spaces that visualize and transmit information and data in real-time. When applied to construction sites, this technology is expected to enable more efficient and stable project management. However, research on construction metaverses, both domestically and internationally, is still inadequate. In this study, 16 influential factors for promoting the application of metaverses to the construction industry were identified through the initial stages of the system dynamics technique. These performance factors were classified into four categories: systemrelated factors for metaverse site construction, device-related factors, user-related factors, and construction site-related factors. It is expected that this study will promote research on the activation of Con-Metaverse by developing casual loop diagrams(CLD) to identify the relationship between each performance factor and constructing stock & flow diagrams(SFD) for simulations in future studies.

Peak cooling load of large buildings is generally greater than their peak heating load. Internal and solar heat gains are used fur selection of adquate equipment in large building in cold winter climate like Canada and even Korea. The cost of geothermal heat exchanger to meet the cooling loads can increase the initial cost of ground source heat pump system to the extend less costly conventional system often chosen. Thermal ice storage system has been used for many years in Korea to reduce chiller capacity and shift Peak electrical time and demand. A distribution system designed to take advantage of heat extracted from the ice, and use of geothermal loop (geothermal heat exchanger) to heat as an alternate heat source and sink is well known to provide many benifits. The use of thermal energy storage (TES) reduces the heat pump capacity and peak cooling load needed in large building by as much as 40 to $60\%$ with less mechanical equipment and less space for mechanical room. Additionally TES can reduce the size and cost of the geothermal loop by 1/3 to 1/4 compared to ground coupled heat pump system that is designed to meet the peak heating and cooling load and also can eliminate difficuties of geothermal loop installation such as space requirements and thermal conditions of soil and rock at the urban area.

"The Jayeon Madang Development Project("JMDP")" is a project being promoted by the Ministry of Environment to create a cultural space and a natural rest area within the city. Abuksan, located at Abuksan in Gyeongsangnam-do Miryang-si Naeil-dong, has suffered a substantial amount of environmental degradation over time, so the need for ecological restoration made it a natural choice for the location of the JMDP's site. The purpose of this study is to examine ecological restoration design strategies used in Abuksan as part of the JMDP using system dynamics. The national archery center, hole, and arable land sites are key restoration areas in Abuksan that have faced with ecological problems. In this study, we identified the status of each site, determined key strategies being implemented, and designed based on the strategies implemented up to this point for solving problems associated with each sites through the use of causal loop diagrams. The results of the causal loop diagram analysis are as follows. The national archery center site was designed around strategies including planting green manure crops and introducing hugelkultur to reduce soil acidification and green network degradation. The hole site was designed as a constructed wetland based on the emergence of hygropreference vegetation, hydrated by rainwater collected at the bottom of hole, ecological and cultural benefits of such an environment. The arable land site restoration design was built around planting native vegetation on one part of the arable land site after soil quality improved and around restoration of grassland and a dry wetland on the other part of the site to reduce soil acidification, erosion, and green network degradation. This study is a significant attempt to apply principles of system dynamics to ecological restoration by providing the design strategies using comprehension of some problems in the ecosystem feedback loops, which has not been used before in general design processes for ecological restoration.
