  • Fast tracking is important for high-speed data transmission in high-speed mobile environment such as high speed rail and vehicular. Digital retrodirective array antenna is possible to do automatically beam tracking because it can control the phase information of the output signal toward opposite direction to input signal without no a priori knowledge of the arrival direction. Also, Digital retrodirective array antennas has merit that it is easy to upgrade and modify compare with analogue retrodirective array antennas. In this paper, we analyze the BER performance of digital retrodirective array antenna under AWGN environment and multipath signal. Simulation results show correct phase estimation and conjugation of retrodirective array antenna by using phase detector block. Also, phase conjugation technique has better BER performance about 1 dB at source than that of without phase conjugation when phase lag is $15^{\circ}$ in AWGN environment. This paper also discusses effect of the presence of multipath signal. Phase and amplitude error about direction of direct signal occurs when retrodirective array system is affected by interference and multipath signal in the presence of multipath signal.

  • This paper presents a novel K-band (18 GHz) 16-quadrature amplitude modulation (16-QAM) orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM)-based $2{\times}2$ line-of-sight multi-input multi-output communication system. The system can deliver 356 Mbps on a 56 MHz channel. Alignment mismatches, such as amplitude and/or phase mismatches, between the transmitter and receiver antennas were examined through hardware experiments. Hardware experimental results revealed that amplitude mismatch is related to antenna size, antenna beam width, and link distance. The proposed system employs an alignment mismatch compensation method. The open-loop architecture of the proposed compensation method is simple and enables facile construction of communication systems. In a digital modem, 16-QAM OFDM with a 512-point fast Fourier transform and (255, 239) Reed-Solomon forward error correction codecs is used. Experimental results show that a bit error rate of $10^{-5}$ is achieved at a signal-to-noise ratio of approximately 18.0 dB.

  • This paper introduces a new, small, low cost, robust and quick replaceable pavement-based vehicle detector using CW radar, magnetometer, and UHF small antennal techniques. The detector has been developed for a replacement of loop detectors having wide surface areas, for a more accurate operation under all weather conditions, and for no algorithmic change of the existing traffic information system. The detected vehicle information is sent by a small helical antenna embedded in a plastic material and received by a 5/8 $\lambda$ long GP antenna for signal processing. In a relatively good weather condition, the detector operates at 24 GHz. But in a heavy rain condition, magnetometer is activated by automatic switching.

  • Test standards for electrical and electronic equipment required for ship operations is applying the IEC-60533 standard. However, although a test procedure and a specified regulation are clearly defined in the deck and bridge zone and general power distribution zone, they are not regulated in the special power distribution zone with ship propulsion system. For these reasons, the costs for additional research and development have been invested. In this paper, we was measured power noise in a special power distribution zone in ship and we were compared and analyzed values measured. The actual experiments are performed on the ship of Korea Maritime and Ocean University. As a result, the acquired data on Hanbada shows that loop antenna with low frequency band(160kHz) and ultra log antenna with high frequency band(1.97GHz)occur about 6-8dB differences and about 8.7 difference respectively. Also, the acquired data on Hannara shows that each loop antenna of 1MHz, 11MHz, and 25MHz occurs about 7dB difference about 4-5dB differences respectively. so standard of Special distribution zone must be specified by comparative analysis of data obtained by the experiment more.

  • In this paper, we examine the MIMO(Multiple Input Multiple Output) system in the point of mobile communication that is used for railway environment. First, under the radio environment, wireless channel characteristics are analyzed between moving train and base station, both assuming track side base stations and non-track side base stations. Next, the paper introduces the MIMO system which can be used to solve the problem of performance degradation in railway environment, and analyzes its performance in terms of channel capacity and diversity. We especially compares open-loop scheme with closed loop scheme at the diversity and analyses their performance according to antenna correlation. Finally, the we presents experimental result from the ESCORT project that was studied in railway environment with the MIMO system.

  • Jamming simulator has developed for the purpose of the test and evaluation on the electronic protection capabilities of the tracking radar onboard ship. This simulator has the capabilities to generate and radiate the jamming signals against the radar as well as those to receive, analyze and identify the radar signals at a real sea environment. The limited space of ship superstructure has led to the serious distortion caused by the ring around phenomenon that some sidelobes of the jamming beams were coming back to the receiving antenna. In this paper, we have proposed the methods to eliminate the ring around. First, we have inserted the groove metal screen between transmitting and receiving antennas. Second, we have used the PRI(Pulse Repetition Interval) tracking loop to control the switching timing of the input radar and the output jamming signal. Finally, we have demonstrated the performance and effectiveness of the proposed methods through the sea trial.

  • This paper focuses on a mobile edge-computing-enabled heterogeneous network. A battery level-aware task-scheduling framework is proposed to improve the energy efficiency and prolong the operating hours of battery-powered mobile devices. The formulated optimization problem is a typical mixed-integer nonlinear programming problem. To solve this nondeterministic polynomial (NP)-hard problem, a decomposition-based task-scheduling algorithm is proposed. Using an alternating optimization technology, the original problem is divided into three subproblems. In the outer loop, task offloading decisions are yielded using a pruning search algorithm for the task offloading subproblem. In the inner loop, closed-form solutions for computational resource allocation subproblems are derived using the Lagrangian multiplier method. Then, it is proven that the transmitted power-allocation subproblem is a unimodal problem; this subproblem is solved using a gradient-based bisection search algorithm. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed framework achieves better energy efficiency than other frameworks. Additionally, the impact of the battery level-aware scheme on the operating hours of battery-powered mobile devices is also investigated.

  • In this paper, we propose a MIMO-OFDMA (Multi Input Multi Output-Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access) system based on Grassmannian beamforming for performance improvement of downlink real-time traffic transmission in harsh channel conditions with low CIR (Carrier-to-Interference Ratio). In the proposed system to reduce feedback information for the beamforming, we also apply Grassmannian Beamforming. Furthermore, we propose antenna selection scheme which performs the beamforming with more useful transmit antennas. In the proposed system, the optimal combination of transmit antennas with maximum MRT (Maximum Ratio Transmission) beamforming gain, is selected. Simulation results reveal that the proposed MIMO-OFDMA system achieves significant improvement of spectral efficiency in low CIR region as compared to a typical open-loop MIMO-OFDMA system using pseudo-orthogonal space time block code.
