  • Logistics outsourcing businesses consist of the three main stages of bidding, contracting, and operations. This study focuses on the impacts of factors in the logistics outsourcing stages on outsourcing performance. Key factors in each stage may have direct influences on logistics partnerships and performance. Also, factors of each stage may impact the factors of subsequent stages. The relationships were examined using a structural equation model and verified by PLS (partial least square)-SEM methodology. Study results were as follows. First, the uncertainty of the shipper in the bidding phase affects the flexible contract in the contracting phase, and thus, affects the satisfaction of the logistics outsourcing services. Second, the uncertainty of the shipper in the bidding phase affects operations through contracts, and positively affects logistics outsourcing satisfaction through trust and cooperation.

  • This study aims to investigate the relationship between cargo volume and logistics performance index published by World Bank which indicate countries' logistics performance. In this study, the results were derived through panel regression analysis consisting of variables such as gross domestic product, geographical distance, population, and LPI using container export/import volume and bulk export/import volume as dependent variables. As a result of the empirical analysis, it was found that Korea's container volume was affected by the overall level of logistics, in particular, was deeply related to the logistics infrastructure, while bulk volume was not related to the logistics level or was less influential.

In regard to the demand forecasting of employers in logistics, it could anticipate more realistically the future demand by the time-lag approach. According to the findings, if value of output record 733,080 KSH million in 2015 and 970,640 in 2020, compared to 655,222 in 2013, demand on wage employment in logistics industry would be reached up to 95,860 in 2015 and 104,329 in 2020, compared to about 89,600 in 2012. To conclude, this study showed the more rational numbers about the demand forecasting of employment than the previous researches and displayed the systematic approach to estimate industry manpower in logistics.

  • The advance into the overseas markets of domestic enterprises has been increasing continuously. Brazil, for domestic companies, has been emerging as the huge potential country in the development of markets and resources. According to the reports from World Bank and Brazil government, one of the biggest difficulties of businesses in Brazil for foreign enterprises is the lack of Transportation Infrastructure and high logistics costs. However, until now, there is no professional institute and systematic DB in Korea to provide the overall information of Brazil logistics or details oriented to enterprises' needs; furthermore, enterprises have the difficulties to gather or investigation the logistics information by themselves due to the constraints of language and budget. For these reasons, with the latest data, this study reviews the overall information of Brazil logistics environment and provides the status of Brazil logistics that is necessary for enterprises to advance into Brazil market. Also, this explains the reason for why Brazil has such a high logistics cost with the objective data. In addition, this paper carried out the benchmarking case study as an example of logistics strategy and plan in Brazil. This study can contribute to serve as useful information for domestic enterprises which planning or doing business in Brazil.

Results: The implementation level of lean management in Third Party Logistics shows that application of principle 3 (utilizing pull systems) has a higher score than the other principles. This situation shows that management give the best performance in plan process. They prioritize customer requirement in every process designed. However, the principle 8 (using reliable technology) show the weakness performance. Conclusions: Overall, this study shows the Third Party Logistics in East Java Province of Indonesia have applied the lean principle quite well, although the scores are only slightly above the average. This condition provides a strong basis for further lean implementation, especially for improving logistics, distribution and transportation activities in Third Party Logistics Business.

  • This study focuses on three logistics-related news (Logistics Newspaper, Korea Shipping Gadget, and Korea Shipping Newspaper) in order to present changes in logistics issues, centering on Corona 19, which has recently had the greatest impact in the world. For data collection, two-year news articles in 2019 and 2020 (title, article, content, date, article classification, article URL) were collected through web crawling (using Python's BeautifulSoup, requests module) on the homepages of three representative logistics-related media companies. As for the data analysis methods, fundamental statistical analysis, Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) for topic modeling, and Scattertext were performed. The analysis results were as follows. First, among the three news media related to logistics, the Korea Shipping Newspaper was carrying out the most active media activities. Second, through topic modeling with LDA, eight logistics-related topics were identified, and keywords and significant issues of each topic were presented. Third, the keywords were visually expressed through Scattertext. This is the first study to present changes in the logistics field, focusing on articles from representative logistics-related media in 2019 and 2020. In particular, 2019 and 2020 can be divided into before and after the outbreak of Corona 19, which has had a great impact not only on the logistics field but also on our lives as a whole. For future work, a multi-faceted approach is required, such as comparative studies of logistics issues between countries or presenting implications based on long-term time-series articles.
