The purpose of this study was to identify the factors associated with child's Body Mass Index (BMI) and physical activity. The participants (n = 133) were Korean juveniles (3rd and 4th graders) and their parents. They completed a questionnaire packet including the SPARK (Sports, Play, and Active Recreation for Kids) survey and the parent equivalent survey. Correlation, multiple linear regression and binary logistic regression analyses were applied to identify the association between child's BMI and 10 factors of SPARK as predict or variables. 25.6% of the participants were classified as overweight (21.1%) or obesity (4.5%). 3 parental factors including mother's BMI and frequency of mother's and father's physical activity were identified as significant predictors of children's BMI. The 10 variables accounted for 28% of the variance (p<.01) in the linear regression model. These results provide insight into parental factors which are related to a child's BMI and physical activity. Parental role modeling which refers to parents' efforts to model an active lifestyle for children plays an important role.
This study aims to explore the importance of job stress for hospital employees and psychosocial risk factors of their job stress. 1,890 survey questionnaires collected from 14 hospitals are used for the analysis. The study results shows that stress is the most important risk factor perceived by hospital workers. Also stress-related symptoms and diseases are perceived to occur most frequently among hospital employees. The multiple logistic regression analysis shows age, working hours, shiftwork, job demand, decision-latitude and social support from supervisor and colleagues affect stress level of hospital employees.

We propose principal differential analysis based classification methods. Computations of squared multiple correlation function (RSQ) and principal differential analysis (PDA) scores are reviewed; in addition, we combine principal differential analysis results with the logistic regression for binary classification. In the numerical study, we compare the principal differential analysis based classification methods with functional principal component analysis based classification. Various scenarios are considered in a simulation study, and principal differential analysis based classification methods classify the functional data well. Gene expression data is considered for real data analysis. We observe that the PDA score based method also performs well.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate the correlation between soft drink consumption and subjective oral symptoms in Korean adolescents. Methods: Data of 65,528 adolescents were derived from the twelfth Korea youth risk behavior web-based survey, which was conducted from 1st June 2016 to 30th June 2016. Sociodemographic factors, dietary habit, and oral health behavior were collected as independent variables. The subjective oral symptoms were used as a dependent variable. The chi-square test and logistic regression analysis were performed to identify the correlation between dental caries and the other variables. Results: A multiple logistic regression analysis revealed that subjective oral symptoms were correlated with sex, age, subjective economic status, soft drink consumption, sweet drink consumption, tooth brushing frequency and dental sealant experience. Conclusions: Since the intake of soft drink adversely effects subjectively perceived oral symptoms in Korean adolescents, oral health education should include information on the pH levels of food and beverages including carbonated drinks, the effects of sugar on the teeth, and precautions to preventing tooth damage.
Objectives: This study aimed to analyze the association between self-assessed periodontal symptoms and glycated hemoglobin levels in patients with type 2 diabetes. Methods: This cross-sectional study involved 156 patients with type 2 diabetes who were aged 50 years or older. Structured questionnaires were used to investigate the self-assessed periodontal symptoms of the patients. The glycated hemoglobin test was performed to evaluate their long-term blood glycemic control. Chi-square test and logistic multiple regression were performed to analyze the factors associated with glycated hemoglobin levels. Results: Compared with patients aged 65 years and above, more patients aged 64 years and below showed poor glycemic control (p=0.020). Further, compared with patients without self-perceived gingival bleeding and halitosis, more patients with these two conditions showed poor glycemic control (p<0.05). Compared with the group of patients without any periodontal symptoms, the group of patients that had at least one periodontal symptom had a higher proportion of patients with poor glycemic control (p<0.001). In the logistic regression model, gingival bleeding and halitosis were the factors most associated with hyperglycemia (p<0.05). Conclusions: The results of our study suggest that gingival bleeding and halitosis can predict hyperglycemia in patients with type 2 diabetes.

Purpose: This study was conducted to examine the factors associated with work related injuries of nurses in small and medium sized hospitals. Method: A cross-sectional survey was conducted with nurses in eight hospitals from October 2007 to January 2008. A questionnaire was designed to collect information on nurses' work related injuries, and individual and job related characteristics. The response rate was 65.1%. Data from 294 nurses were analyzed. Multiple logistic regression analysis was performed to determine factors associated with work related injuries. Result: Of the 294 nurses, 19.1% (n=56) responded as having at least one injury during their job performance. The logistic regression analysis revealed that the significant factors influencing work related injuries were job satisfaction, stress recognition, and hospital's location. Nurses with a higher job satisfaction were less likely to experience work related injuries (OR=0.58). Nurses with a higher stress recognition (OR=2.57) and those working at hospitals in metropolitan cities (OR=3.28) were more likely to experience work related injuries. Conclusions: The result of this study indicated that a substantial proportion of nurses in small and medium sized hospitals had experienced injuries related to nursing job. Interventions to prevent work related injuries among nurses should take into account the job satisfaction, stress recognition, and hospital characteristics.

Purpose: This study was aimed to investigate predictors of job satisfaction of home visiting nurses at the 16 public health centers in Busan. Method: There are two groups of independent factors: non-work related (age. educational level. working duration as nurses in hospitals. certificate). and work related (working duration as nurses in public health centers. working duration as home visiting nurse. position. number of households visited per week, workload, cooperation among staff, support by supervisors, supply of vehicles, supply of materials). The participants were 88 home visiting nurses from 16 public health centers in Busan. Data were collected with self-administrated questionnaires and analysed using an univariate logistic regression and multiple logistic regression analysis. Result: support by supervisors (good vs not-good, OR=3.70. p=0.025), and supply of materials (good vs not-good, OR=3.33, p=0.038) had significants effects on job satisfaction. Conclusion: The results were similar to those of other studies on the predictors of job satisfaction of clinical nurse at hospitals, and were helpful in developing nursing interventions to increase job satisfaction among home visiting nurses in public health centers. This study was carried out to identify dietary risk factors for childhood obesity. The study subjects were male children, aged 2-6years, who were enrolled in nursery schools and kindergartens. We obtained anthropometric measurements from 949 boys and dietary questionnaires from 253 boys. The subjects were classified into two groups using the BMI criteria, normal (n=200) group with the BMI below 85th percentile and the obese group with the BMI at 85th percentile and above (n=53). The logistic regression analysis showed that the odds ratios (OR) for obesity were, birth weight greater than 4.0㎏ (3.27) , increased meal speed (4.98) , the frequency of overeating more than twice a week (2.63), the consumption of cooked rice more than one bowl per meal (2.77), the consumption of milk and dairy products less than 5 times a week (2.81), and increased maternal meal speed (1.98). Stepwise multiple logistic regression analyses showed that the variables which contribute to obesity significantly were birth weight greater than 4.0 ㎏ (OR 5.19), the frequency of overeating more than twice a week (OR 2.51) , the consumption of cooked rice more than one bowl per meal (OR 2.74), and the consumption of milk and dairy products less than 5 times a week (OR 4.43) (p<0.0001) . The results of this study indicate that dietary habits of both children and of their mothers as well as child's birth weight are important variables that contribute to childhood obesity. This study aimed to investigate predictors of turnover intention of home visiting nurses at 16 public health centers in Busan. There are two groups of independent factors: non-work related(i. e., age, educational level, working duration as nurses in hospitals, and certificate), and work related factors(i. e., working duration as nurses in public health centers, working duration as home visiting nurse, position, number of households visited per week, workload, cooperation among staff, support by supervisors, supply of vehicles, and supply of materials). Data were collected with self-administrated questionnaires which consisted of 4 items of non-work related factors, 9 items of work related factors, and 1 item of turnover intention to other department. Data were analyzed using an univariate logistic regression and multiple logistic regression. According to the results, heavy workload (Yes vs No, OR=4.31, $95\%$ CI=1.16-16.04) was the most powerful predictor on the turnover intention. In conclusion. this result was similar to those of other studies on the predictors of turnover intention of clinical nurses at hospitals. To decrease the turnover intention among home visiting nurses at public health centers in Busan, alleviating the workload is needed.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between customer contact service and mental health among Korean taxi drivers. Methods: This was a secondary analysis of data collected from the 2015 Korean Working Conditions Survey. The sample included 496 taxi drivers in South Korea. The effect of customer contact service on mental health was analyzed using logistic regression analysis. The independent variables were general characteristics, working conditions, and hazardous factors in interactive service. Results: The prevalence of poor mental health was 56.3%. Taxi drivers experienced emotional involvement (17.2%), hiding feeling (32.0%), and contact with angry clients (18.3%) in their job. During the first month of their work, 33.7% experienced verbal abuse and 12.3% threats/humiliating behaviors. In bivariate analysis, verbal abuse, threats/humiliating behaviors, and physical violence were associated with mental health of taxi drivers. Multiple logistic regression analysis revealed 'emotional involvement' and 'contact with angry clients' were significant predictors of mental health. Conclusion: The findings of this study may be useful in developing intervention programs to improve the mental health of taxi drivers in South Korea.
