The development of mobile devices and the spread of wireless network help share and exchange information and resources more easily. The bond them to Cloud Computing technology help pay attention to "Mobile Cloud" service, so there have been being a lot of studies on "Mobile Cloud" service. Especially, the important of 'Personalization Service' which is customized for each user's preference and context has been increasing. In order to provide appropriate personalization services, it enables to recognize user's current state, analyze the user's profile like user's tendency and preference, and draw the service answering the user's request. Most existing frameworks, however, are not very suitable for mobile devices because they were proposed on the web-based. And other context information except location information among user's context information are not much considered. Therefore, this paper proposed the context-aware framework, which provides more suitable services by using user's context and profile.
Smart homes integrated with sensors, actuators, wireless networks and context-aware middleware will soon become part of our daily life. This paper describes a context-aware middleware providing an automatic home service based on a user's preference. The context-aware middle-ware utilizes 6 basic data for learning and predicting the user's preference on the multimedia content : the pulse, the body temperature, the facial expression, the room temperature, the time, and the location. The six data sets construct the context model and are used by the context manager module. The log manager module maintains history information for multimedia content chosen by the user. The user-pattern learning and pre-dicting module based on a neural network predicts the proper home service for the user. The testing results show that the pattern of an in-dividual's preferences can be effectively evaluated and predicted by adopting the proposed context model.
The damage of safety accidents at home can be minimized by preventing accidents in advance as well as by coping with the accidents promptly through the help of safety management system. In this paper, we identify several services to prevent and cope with the accidents that may occur at home by leveraging sensors and wireless network technology available at home network environments. In order to provide these services, we propose a context-aware system for safety management at home. The proposed system awares the dangerous situations through the information collected by the sensors in home network environment. The proposed system tries to not only prevent the accidents but also to cope with the situations using the information of rescue targets and the location where the accident occurs. We evaluate the appropriateness of sensors by implementing the proposed environments. Through OPNET simulation experiments, we also measure the amount of network traffic in order to confirm that the bandwidth of IEEE 802.15.4 is enough for the proposed system. Finally, we determine more appropriate wireless data transmission mechanism with respect to the end-to-end delay and battery consumption for the proposed system.

Recently, Peer-to-Peer (P2P) overlay networks like CAN, Chord, Pastry and Tapestry offer a novel platform for scalable and decentralized distributed applications. These systems provide efficient and fault-tolerant routing, object location, and load balancing within a self-organizing overlay network. Content Delivery Network (CDN) is an intermediate layer of infrastructure that helps to efficiently deliver the multimedia content from content providers to clients. In this paper, We propose a topology-aware P2P overlay network for CDN, Rosary, in which CDN servers perform Intra-Pastry and Inter-Pastry routing based on a two-level structured overlay network. This proposed system extends pastry by adapting itself to CDN environments, where a semi-hashing based scheme for Intra-Pastry routing is introduced, and dynamic landmark technology is used to construct the topology-aware overlay network. Through simulations on NS-2, it is shown that Rosary is scalable, efficient, and flexible.

Pharmacists must be aware of veterinary drugs to prevent abuse and misuse of the drugs, and to ensure the safety of livestock under the veterinarian prescription system. In this study, the awareness of animal pharmacies was surveyed in order to find out the role of animal pharmacies and the necessity of veterinary drug education for pharmacists. Surveys were conducted by 187 animal owners and 115 community pharmacists. 80% of the animal owners had purchased drugs for their animals. 63% of respondents were not aware of the existence of animal pharmacies. The best selling drug class for animals was antiparasitic. The most common drug that respondents wanted to buy in animal pharmacies was also antiparasitic. About 80% of respondents answered affirmatively on the question of whether they would buy the drugs from animal pharmacies regardless of the location of the pharmacies. Most community pharmacists were aware of the existence of animal pharmacies. 70% of pharmacists had considered trading in veterinary drugs. 41% of respondents answered that they did not trade in them because they were not familiar with veterinary drugs. 80% of respondents answered that what they needed most was education in order to increase the number of animal pharmacies. Pharmacies for animal will expand the choice of animal owners, and enable pharmacists to improve their specialty as well as to diversify the pharmacy services. To achieve this, promotion of animal pharmacies and education about veterinary drugs for pharmacists would be needed in regular education system.
With the spread of smartphones containing multiple on-board sensors, the market for context aware applications have grown. However, due to the limited power capacity of a smartphone, users feel discontented QoS. Additionally, context aware applications require the utilization of many forms of context and sensing information. If context transition has occurred, types of needed sensors must be changed and each sensor modules need to turn on/off. In addition, excessive sensing has been found when the context decision is ambiguous. In this paper, we focus on power consumption associated with the context transition that occurs during indoor/outdoor detection, modeling the activities of the sensor associated with these contexts. And we suggest a freezing algorithm that reduces power consumption in context transition. We experiment with a commercial application that service is indoor/outdoor location tracking, measure power consumption in context transition with and without the utilization of the proposed method. We find that proposed method reduces power consumption about 20% during context transition.
Context-aware computing, as a core of smart space development, has been widely regarded as useful in realizing individual service provision. However, most of context-aware services so fat are in its early stage to be dispatched for actual usage in the real world, caused mainly by user's privacy concerns. Moreover, since legacy context-aware services have focused on acquiring in an automatic manner the extra-personal context such as location, weather and objects near by, the services are very limited in terms of quality and variety if the service should identify intra-personal context such as attitudes and privacy concern, which are in fact very useful to select the relevant and timely services to a user. Hence, the purpose of this paper is to propose a novel methodology to infer the user's privacy concern as intra-personal context in an intelligent manner. The proposed methodology includes a variety of stimuli from outside the person and then performs model-based reasoning with social theory models from model base to predict the user's level of privacy concern semi-automatically. To show the feasibility of the proposed methodology, a survey has been performed to examine the performance of the proposed methodology.
This paper describes an Adaptive Context-aware Service (ACS) using Model Driven Architecture (MDA)-based Service Creation Environment (SCE) on PARLAY X based service delivery platform in ubiquitous computing environments. It can be expected that both the context-awareness and adaptation in ubiquitous computing environments will be deployed. But the existing context-aware middleware lacks in considering adaptation. Therefore, the object of this paper is to support the architecture and the Application Programming Interface (API) of the network service for both the context-awareness and adaptation in ubiquitous computing environment. ACS is to provide users with the adaptive network service to the changing context constraints as well as detecting the changing context. For instance, ACS can provide users with QoS in network according to the detected context, after detecting the context such as location and speed. The architecture of ACS is comprised of a Service Creation Environment (SCE), Adaptive Context Broker and PARLAY gateway. SCE is to use Context-based Constraint Language (CCL) for an expression of context-awareness and adaptation. Adaptive Context Broker is to make a role of the broker between SCE and PARLAY G/W. PARLAY G/W is to support API for PARLAY X-based service delivery platform.
Indexing techniques are used to implement selective tuning in wireless environments Indices are broadcast together with data to help mobile clients locate the required information. As a result, clients stay in doze mode most of the time. The drawback of this solution is that broadcast cycles are lengthened due to additional index information. In location-aware mobile services(LAMSs), it is important to reduce the query response time, since a late query response nay contain out-of-date information. In this paper, we present a broadcast-based spatial query processing method (BBS) designed to support k-NN query processing. In the BBS, broadcasted data objects are sorted sequentially based on their locations, and the server broadcasts the location dependent data along with an index segment. The performance of this scheme is investigated in relation to various environmental variables, such as the distributions of the data objects, the average speed of the clients and the size of the service area.
