  • Location prediction has been successfully utilized to provide high quality of location-based services to customers in many applications. In its usual form, the conventional type of location prediction is to predict future locations based on user's past movement history. However, as location prediction needs are expanded into much complicated cases, it becomes necessary quite frequently to make inference on the locations that target user visited in the past. Typical cases include the identification of locations that infectious disease carriers may have visited before, and crime suspects may have dropped by on a certain day at a specific time-band. Therefore, primary goal of this study is to predict locations that users visited in the past. Information used for this purpose include user's demographic information and movement histories. Data mining classifiers such as Bayesian network, neural network, support vector machine, decision tree were adopted to analyze 6868 contextual dataset and compare classifiers' performance. Results show that general Bayesian network is the most robust classifier.

  • Our prediction model is based on the development of "Semantic Location Model." It embodies geometrical and topological information which can increase the efficiency in prediction and make it easy to manipulate the prediction model. Data mining is being implemented to extract the inhabitant's location patterns generated day by day. As a result, the self-learning system will be able to semantically predict the inhabitant's location in advance. This context-aware system brings about the key component of the ubiquitous computing environment. First, we explain the semantic location model and data mining methods. Then the location prediction model for the ubiquitous computing system is described in details. Finally, the prototype system is introduced to demonstrate and evaluate our prediction model.

  • As development of wireless communication technology has promoted mobility, Location Based Service (LBS) became embossed. The LBS is a service to recognize and utilize a location of a person or a thing through a device that ensures mobility based on wireless communication network. This paper thus researches on Healthcare Method to respond to emergency rapidly by recognizing a patient's location with the LBS. The LBS also provides location information of a user as well as remote management of organism data such as ECG data or pulse, which is transferred to a hospital or an emergency room.

  • The increasing availability of personal location data pushed by the widespread use of location-sensing technologies raises concerns with respect to the safeguard of location privacy. To address such concerns location privacy-preserving techniques are being investigated. An important area of application for such techniques is represented by Location Based Services (LBS). Many privacy-preserving techniques designed for LBS are based on the idea of forwarding to the LBS provider obfuscated locations, namely position information at low spatial resolution, in place of actual users' positions. Obfuscation techniques are generally based on the use of geometric methods. In this paper, we argue that such methods can lead to the disclosure of sensitive location information and thus to privacy leaks. We thus propose a novel method which takes into account the semantic context in which users are located. The original contribution of the paper is the introduction of a comprehensive framework consisting of a semantic-aware obfuscation model, a novel algorithm for the generation of obfuscated spaces for which we report results from an experimental evaluation and reference architecture.

  • The location of mobile terminals in cellular networks is an important problem in the field of information technology with applications in resource allocation, location sensitive browsing, and emergency communications. Finding location estimation techniques that are robust to non-line of light (NLOS) propagation is a key problem in this area. Time of arrival (TOA) and pattern matching (PM) measurements can be made simultaneously by CDMA cellular networks at low cost. The different sources of errors for each measurement type cause TOA and PM measurements to contain independent information about mobile station (MS) locations. This paper combines the information of PM and TOA measurements to calculate a superior location estimate. The proposed location estimator is robust, provides lower error than the estimators based on the individual measurements, and has low implementation costs.

  • The facility location in designing a supply chain network is an important decision problem that gives form, structure, and shape to the entire supply chain system. Location problems involve determining the location, number, and size of the facilities to be used. The optimization of these location decisions requires careful attention to the inherent trade-offs among service time, inventory costs, facility cost, transportation costs. This paper presents a strategy that provides the best locations of distribution centers using GIS(Geographical Information System) assuming the limitation of delivery time. To get the best strategy of the location of distribution centers, we use the new loss functions as a penalty when the delivery time is violated

  • This paper proposes a realtime tracking algorithm of mobile object in indoor or outdoor environment. For this purpose the proposed system selects location data closer to mobile objects in real time using Triangulation method and DCM (Database Correlation Method). Also, this system utilizes the adjusted location data selected by using Kalman filter to improve the location accuracy of transfer object. Be studied in existing the Kalman filter have unstable location data until its settlement because of it extracts current values by using the past the information. However, proposed location tracking system don't apply existent Kalman filter to this system and it permits precisional tracking location by using more effective methods.

  • One of the most important issue in location-aware computing is tracking moving objects efficiently. To this end, an efficient protocol which updates location information in a location server is highly needed. In fact, the performance of a location update strategy highly depends on the assumed mobility pattern. In most existing works, however, the mobility issue has been disregarded and too simplified as linear function of time. In this paper, we propose a new mobility model, called state-based mobility model (SMM) to provide more generalized framework for both describing the mobility and updating location information of complexly moving objects. We also introduce the state-based location update protocol (SLUP) based on this mobility model. Using experimental comparison, we illustrate that the proposed technique is many times better in reducing location update cost and the communication bandwidth consumption.

  • Location tracking is used to keep track of the location information of a mobile terminal in an idle state for a call setup between mobile terminals. In this paper, we introduce a new location tracking strategy that utilizes spatial locality to have better performance than a movement based location tracking strategy. We reduce a lot of unnecessary location updates by updating the location information of a mobile terminal using the virtual movement path, which is generated after removing spatial localities in the actual movement path. Simulation results show that the proposed strategy greatly reduces the overall location tracking cost.

  • Nowadays the development of mobile systems occupies significant part of our life, and users using mobile phones are demanding the utilization of differentiated spatial information. A study on application which provides information according to individual location information such as mobile advertisement is conducted for the location-based mobile service. In order to allow mobile phone users to share information based on local information, this paper proposes a mobile sharing system which combines social networks and location-based service to provide efficient information based on location information in mobile phones. The application can be provided with information associated with its location when the mobile phone user arrives at a specific location. Another proposed method focuses on providing more appropriate services for individual situations compared to other applications, and can contribute to expanding social networking functions to facilitate information sharing among users.
