This paper presents the dynamic characteristics analysis of the purlin-sheet roofs by the random vibration theories. Results show that the natural vibration frequency of the purlin-sheet roof is low, while the frequencies and mode distributions are very intensive. The random vibration theory should be used for the dynamic characteristics of the roof structures due to complex vibration response. Among the first 20th vibration modes, the first vibration mode is mainly the deformations of purlins, while the rest modes are the overall deformations of the roof. In the following 30th modes, it mainly performs unilateral local deformations of the roof. The frequency distribution of the first 20th modes varies significantly while those of the following 30th modes are relatively sensitive. For different parts, the contributions of vibration modes on the vibration response are different. For the part far from the roof ridge, only considering the first 5th modes can reflect the wind-induced vibration response. For the part near the ridge, at least the first 12 modes should be considered, due to complex vibration response. The wind vibration coefficients of the upwind side are slightly higher than that of the leeward side. Finally, the corresponding wind vibration coefficient for the purlin-sheet roof is proposed.
Relatively high rotating speed propulsion shafting system of the large Ro-Ro Ferry has a greate risk of the resonance of the many wide local panels as well as the high frequency global vibratory modes. Therefore, from the initial design stage, it is necessary to control the vibration characteristics of the wide panels with detail so as not to be resonant with the blade number order excitation due to the propellers in the normal operating speed range. The procedure of the vibration analysis and the structural redesign for prevention of vibration is introduced.

In the vibration analysis of submerged or floating bodies such as ships and offshore structures, the coupled system between fluid and structure should be considered using the compatibility conditions on the wetted surface. It is well known that the hydroelastic vibration analysis of structures in contact with fluid can be done by applying the finite element method(FEM) to structures and the boundary element method(BEM) to the fluid domain. However, such an approach is impractical due to the characteristics of the fully coupled added mass matrix of fluid on the entire wetted surface. To overcome this difficulty, an efficient approach based on a reanalysis scheme is proposed in this paper. The proposed method can be applied for cases of higher local modes and beam-like modes for which three-dimensional reduction factors are not known. The three dimensional reduction factors are not needled and thus the restrictions can be removed in the analyses of non-beam like modes or local vibration modes by considering fluid-structure interaction. The validity and calculation efficiency of the proposed method are proved through numerical examples.
It is very difficult to execute the vibration analysis of a huge strucutre, which takes up much time and expense. In this paper we intend to make the equivalent system of a local vibration system of a huge structure with a view to improving the dynamic characteristics and reducing time and expense. First of all, upper deck structure model is maded. And we perform the vibration analysis by the Substructure Synthesis Method and execute the exciting test for the upper deck structure model, and observe the coincidences of two results to confirm the reliability of the analyzing tools used. To make the equivalent system, we give boundary condition to sub-structure that want to be modified and execute the Sensitivity Analysis Method and the Optimum Structural Modification Method. And we execute the structural modification of the equivalent system.. The following can be found from this study. 1. The analytical results are generally coincident with each other. 2. The equivalent system of the superstructure model can be easily obtained using the sensitivity analysis metho and the optimum structural modification method. 3. The structural modification using the equivalent system can be obtained good results above 90% of object value.
Structural health monitoring of steel truss bridge based on changes in modal properties was investigated in this study. Vibration measurements with five sensors were conducted at an existing Warren truss bridge with partial fractures in diagonal members before and after an emergency repair work. Modal properties identified by the Eigensystem Realization Algorithm showed evidences of increases in modal damping due to the damage in diagonal member. In order to understand the dynamic behavior of the bridge and possible mechanism of those increases in modal damping, theoretical modal analysis was conducted with three dimensional frame models. It was found that vibrations of the main truss could be coupled internally with local vibrations of diagonal members and the degree of coupling could change with structural changes in diagonal members. Additional vibration measurements with fifteen sensors were then conducted so as to understand the consistency of those theoretical findings with the actual dynamic behavior. Modal properties experimentally identified showed that the damping change caused by the damage in diagonal member described above could have occurred in a diagonal-coupled mode. The results in this study imply that damages in diagonal members could be detected from changes in modal damping of diagonal-coupled modes.
Weak form integral equations are developed to investigate the flapwise bending vibration of the rotating beams. Rayleigh and Eringen nonlocal elasticity theories are used to investigate the rotatory inertia and Size-dependency effects on the flapwise bending vibration of the rotating cantilever beams, respectively. Through repetitive integrations, the governing partial differential equations are converted into weak form integral equations. The novelty of the presented approach is the approximation of the mode shape function by a power series which converts the equations into solvable one. Substitution of the power series into weak form integral equations results in a system of linear algebraic equations. The natural frequencies are determined by calculation of the non-trivial solution for resulting system of equations. Accuracy of the proposed method is verified through several numerical examples, in which the influence of the geometry properties, rotatory inertia, rotational speed, taper ratio and size-dependency are investigated on the natural frequencies of the rotating beam. Application of the weak form integral equations has made the solution simpler and shorter in the mathematical process. Presented relations can be used to obtain a close-form solution for quick calculation of the first five natural frequencies of the beams with flapwise vibration and non-local effects. The analysis results are compared with those obtained from other available published references.

An immune system has powerful abilities such as memory, recognition and learning to respond to invading antigens, and is applied to many engineering algorithm recently. In this paper, the combined optimization algorithm is proposed for multi-optimization problem by introducing the capability of the immune system that controls the proliferation of clones to the genetic algorithm. The optimizing ability of the proposed optimization algorithm is identified by using two multi-peak functions which have many local optimums and optimization of the unbalance response function for rotor model.
Present study interests with the longitudinal forced vibration of nanorods. The nonlocal elasticity theory of Eringen is used in modeling of nanorods. Uniform, linear and sinusoidal axial loads are considered. Dynamic displacements are obtained for nanorods with different geometrical properties, boundary conditions and nonlocal parameters. The nonlocal effect increases dynamic displacement and frequency when compared with local elasticity theory. Present results can be useful for modeling of the axial nanomotors and nanoelectromechanical systems.
The goal of this study is to examine the effect of the number of slots on the noise from BLDC motors. To this end, the number of poles was fixed to 4 and the number of the slots was set to 6 or 24 before noise was measured. Motors having different numbers of slots showed clear differences in noise. Cogging torque, torque ripple and normal local force were interpreted, analyzed and compared to determine the reason for the differences. To determine the cause of the noise, cogging torque, torque ripple and normal local force were calculated, which are representative noise sources of BLDC motors, and FFT was performed to analyze their frequency components(harmonics). The results show that torque ripple and normal local force were the dominant factors in the noise difference between the 6-slot and 24-pole motors. As the number of the slots increased, the number of harmonics decreased and their amplitude of harmonic were reduced, which was attributed as the reason for the noise differences.
It is conducted to analyze vibration loads on KSR-III(KSR: Korea Sounding Rocket) and its major segments during their ground transportation and various handling process. These loads may be different from the real flight environment. Inadequate assessment of these loads can cause not only local damages on the rocket system but also the critical problem like flight mission failure. Therefore, transportation and handling loads must be considered during design and attenuated to ensure that the rocket structural damage does not occur. This work is concerned with the generation of criteria and prediction of transportation and handling loads for KSR-III. The results show that the shipping container is well designed to satisfy the design requirements. The maximum vibration level recorded during whole transportation and handling for KSR-III is less than 2g, the criteria of KSR-III movement condition.
