In this paper, we introduce the linear self-attracting diffusion driven by a weighted fractional Brownian motion with weighting exponent a > -1 and Hurst index |b| < a + 1, 0 < b < 1, which is analogous to the linear fractional self-attracting diffusion. For the 1-dimensional process we study its convergence and the corresponding weighted local time. As a related problem, we also obtain the renormalized intersection local time exists in L2 if max{a1 + b1, a2 + b2} < 0.

This paper presents a new concept of a reconfigurable manipulator system which adjusts its mechanical structure to suit the kinematic characteristics of a given task. A highly redundant manipulator designed as a general purpose manipulator needs to be reconfigured for a specific task. A general task can be decomposed of motion and force components with different control requirements: either gross motion control or fine motion control. Each of these task components are distributed to each part of the manipulator based on the control requirements and the structure of the manipulator. Through the reconfiguration, a redundant manipulator is decomposed into two local arms, and the kinematic characteristics of each local arm is adjusted to suit the assigned task. The reconfigured redundant manipulator has two local arms well-configured for the local tasks and cooperating in serial for a given task. This globally enhances the performance of a redundant manipulator to execute a specific task. The simulation results are shown.
In this paper we propose the multiple local search method(MLSM) based on the motion information of the neighbor blocks. In the proposed method motions are estimated from the multiple searches of many candidate local search regions. To reduce the additional search points we avoid to search the same candidate regions previously visited using the distance from the initial search point to the recently found vector points. In the simulation the proposed method shows more excellent results than that of other gradient based method especially in the search of motion boundary.

The conventional BMA is performed with the fixed block size. For better performance at low bitrate, the block size is required to be large in relatively stationary area, while small in moving area. Thus, in this paper, a video coding technique using variable block size model is proposed. It decides the block size based on the degree of local motion defined by the local mean and variance of blocks. Computer simulation shows that the proposed method gives comparable performance to the conventional one with less bits required for motion vector coding.

In this paper, we propose fast motion estimation algorithm. Local statistics of a motion vector is highly correlated to motion vectors of its neighboring blocks. According to the property, block-based motion search range is adaptively determined in order to reduce unnecessary search points. Based on the determined search range, motion vector is obtained by variable step search motion estimation. Experimental results show that comparing to Full search motion estimation, the motion searching points of proposed algorithm is reduced as much as $98\%$. Moreover, PSNR and Bit Rate are almost same to Full search method.

This paper addresses the vision based local path planning system for obstacle avoidance. To handle the obstacles which exist beyond the field of view (FOV), we propose a Panoramic Environment Map (PEM) using the MDGHM-SIFT algorithm. Moreover, we propose a Complexity Measure (CM) and Fuzzy logic-based Avoidance Motion Selection (FAMS) system to enable a humanoid robot to automatically decide its own direction and walking motion when avoiding an obstacle. The CM provides automation in deciding the direction of avoidance, whereas the FAMS system chooses the avoidance path and walking motion, based on environment conditions such as the size of the obstacle and the available space around it. The proposed system was applied to a humanoid robot that we designed. The results of the experiment show that the proposed method can be effectively applied to decide the avoidance direction and the walking motion of a humanoid robot.
Modern performance-based design methods require ways to determine the factual behavior of structures subjected to earthquakes. Drift ratio demands are important measures of structural and/or nonstructural damage of the structures in performance-based design. In this study, global drift ratio and interstory drift ratio demands, obtained by nonlinear time history analysis of three generic RC frames using code-compatible ground motion record sets, are statistically evaluated. Several ground motion record sets compatible with elastic design spectra defined for the local soil classes in Turkish Earthquake Code are used for the analyses. Variation of the drift ratio demands obtained from ground motion records in the sets and difference between the mean of drift ratio demands calculated for ground motion sets are evaluated. The results of the study indicate that i) variation of maximum drift ratio demands in the sets were high; ii) different drift ratio demands are calculated using different ground motion record sets although they are compatible with the same design spectra; iii) the effect of variability due to random causes on the total variability of drift ratio demands is much larger than the effect of variability due to differences between the mean of ground motion record sets; iv) global and interstory drift ratio demands obtained for different ground motion record sets can be accepted as simply random samples of the same population at %95 confidence level. The results are valid for all the generic frames and local soil classes considered in this study.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between center of pressure (CoP) and local stability of the lower joints, which was calculated based on approximate entropy (ApEn) during walking in elderly women. Method: Eighteen elderly women were recruited (age: $66.4{\pm}1.2yrs$; mass: $55.4{\pm}8.3kg$; height: $1.56{\pm}0.04m$) for this study. Before collecting data, reflective marker triads composed of 3 non-collinear spheres were attached to the lateral surface of the thigh and shank near the mid-segment to measure motion of the thigh and shank segments. To measure foot motion, reflective markers were placed on the shoe at the heel, head of the fifth metatarsal, and lateral malleolus, and were also placed on the right anterior-superior iliac spine, left anterior-superior iliac spine, and sacrum to observe pelvic motion. During treadmill walking, kinematic data were recorded using 6 infrared cameras (Oqus 300, Qualisys, Sweden) with a 100 Hz sampling frequency and kinetic data were collected from a treadmill (Instrumented Treadmill, Bertec, USA) for 20 strides. From kinematic data, 3D angles of the lower extremity's joint were calculated using Cardan technique and then ApEn were computed for their angles to evaluate local stability. Range of CoP was determined from the kinetic data. Pearson product-moment and Spearman rank correlation coefficient were applied to find relationship between CoP and ApEn. The level of significance was determined at p<.05. Results: There was a negative linear correlation between CoP and ApEn of hip joint adduction-abduction motion (p<.05), but ApEn of other joint motion did not affect the CoP. Conclusion: It was conjectured that ApEn, local stability index, for adduction/abduction of the hip joint during walking could be useful as a fall predictor.
We propose simple analog MOS circuits producing the one-dimensional compact motion-sensing circuits. In the proposed circuit, the optical flow is computed by a number of local motion sensors which are based on biological motion detectors. Mimicking the structure of biological motion detectors made the circuit structure quite simple, compared with conventional velocity sensing circuits. Extensive simulation results by a simulation program of integrated circuit emphasis (SPICE) indicated that the proposed circuits could compute local velocities of a moving light spot and showed direction selectivity for the moving spot

The fire should extinguish as soon as possible because it causes economic loss and loses precious life. In this study, we propose a new atypical fire and smoke detection algorithm using deep learning and color histogram of fire and smoke. First, input frame images obtain from the ONVIF surveillance camera mounted in factory search motion candidate frame by motion detection algorithm and mean square error (MSE). Second deep learning (Faster R-CNN) is used to extract the fire and smoke candidate area of motion frame. Third, we apply a novel algorithm to detect the fire and smoke using color histogram algorithm with local area motion, similarity, and MSE. In this study, we developed a novel fire and smoke detection algorithm applied the local motion and color histogram method. Experimental results show that the surveillance camera with the proposed algorithm showed good fire and smoke detection results with very few false positives.
