  • The paper aims to understand the mediating effect of Country Image (CI) on the relationship between consumer cosmopolitanism and consumers' purchase, visit and investment intentions towards a foreign country, considering the moderating effects of ethnocentrism, materialism, product familiarity, and visits to a country in a global market. The study extends research on the global and local consumption by simultaneously analysing the influence of country image dimensions and several moderating effects on consumers' behavioural intentions. Four hundred and fifty-seven valid responses from international consumers were collected through a questionnaire measuring country image dimensions. Findings indicate that cosmopolitanism has a significant and positive effect on foreign consumers' behavioural intentions and country image dimensions mediate this relationship. Moreover, a moderating effect was found for ethnocentrism, materialism, product familiarity, and visits to a country on the relationship between country cognitions and the intentions to visit the country. This study shows the importance of considering cosmopolitanism as a potential segmentation variable in international markets. The results can help managers and policymakers to better understand the image that foreign consumers hold about Portugal, their intentions to buy or invest in the country, as well as to think of Portugal as a tourism destination.

  • The purpose of this study is to define the different stage of global management cultures for localization from the case study of two respective multinational corporations, Nestle and Samsung Electronics invested in Vietnam, and then to find out on how Korean multinational corporations can reduce the gap of global management culture compared to global multinational corporations. In fact, Samsung has been pretty much being on a right track from the global marketing management perspective, however still stand at the beginning stage in terms of leading the global corporate culture. In comparison to Nestle with over 130 years of worldwide business experience, Samsung Electronics having only a decade global experience as a Korean multinational corporation has been found to have an obvious gap in terms of globalization which is mainly caused by global corporate culture. Even though it doesn’t seem realistic for Korean multinational corporations to immediately catch up the gap of global corporate culture against global multinational corporations with long years of global experiences and history, Korean multinational corporations need to track the foot print of every steps of globalization particularly focused on the local management culture of global multinational corporations, so that they will be able to shorten the timing to develop the true meaning of global corporate culture being evolved from the Korean management style.

As income increased mainly due to improved economy, it changes the habit of eating especially chicken meat. This coordinated structure began in 1970's and evolved continually to occupy around 90 percent of the market in 2010 with some ten (10) private brands being advertising. The industrial organizations have also conducted the generic promotion by a farmer's check-off program. Over the past 20 years, chicken import steadily increased to meet about 25 percent of the domestic market while the export showed negligible growth. As a whole, the structure change and international trade devoted to increased chicken consumption from 2 kg with the independent operation to 11 kg currently under the coordinated system and import. It is predicted that chicken consumption will grow in years to come and the import will also increase in addition to local productions, considering the free trade agreement that has already been in practice with EU and US to open the market eventually from all sources of supply worldwide.

There is a dearth of information on research conducted to characterize, understand and develop the village chicken production systems in Zimbabwe. This review focuses on constraints, opportunities and research needs for the improvement of village chicken productivity in Zimbabwe. Village chicken production in Zimbabwe is extensive and dominated by indigenous chickens that exhibit remarkable adaptation to local environments. The multitude functions of village chickens, which include the provision of high quality protein meat and eggs, cash through sales and socio-cultural roles, are discussed in detail. Human gender aspects in village chicken production are highlighted. The factors that hamper village chicken productivity are reviewed together with opportunities and research needs. The major constraints include shortage of feed, poor health and housing management. Any improvements in these constraints may lead to sustainable increase in village chicken productivity.
