  • When dynamics changes occurred in an existing Bayesian Network (BN), the related parameters embedding on the BN have to be updated to new parameters adapting to changed patterns. In this case, these parameters have to be updated with the consideration of the causalities in the BN. This research suggests a framework for updating parameters dynamically using Expectation Maximization (EM) algorithm and Harmony Search (HS) algorithm among several Meta-Heuristics techniques. While EM is an effective algorithm for estimating hidden parameters, it has a limitation that the generated solution converges a local optimum in usual. In order to overcome the limitation, this paper applies HS for tracking the global optimum values of Maximum Likelihood Estimators (MLE) of parameters. The proposed method suggests a learning and propagation framework of BN with dynamic changes for overcoming disadvantages of EM algorithm and converging a global optimum value of MLE of parameters.

  • Recently, interests in the field of image processing have increased with the increased demand for digital imaging devices. However, digital images are damaged by the noise generated by various causes during image processing. Generally in digital imaging devices, noise such as AWGN, etc. is generated and performance and reliability are deteriorated, and various researches are in progress to remove it. Accordingly in the present paper, an algorithm to protect the high frequency components of the images and to efficiently remove AWGN is proposed. The proposed algorithm calculates the final output by adjusting estimate values applied with Gaussian mask and weight values applied according to the local mask distribution. And for performance evaluation of the proposed algorithm, simulations were performed with the existing methods, and the characteristics were compared through PSNR and the processed, enlarged images.

  • In database systems, join operations are the most complex and time consuming ones which limit performance of such system. Many parallel join algorithms have been proposed for the systems. However, they did not consider data skew, such as attribute value skew (AVS) and join product skew (JPS). In the skewness environments, performance of framework for a uniform load distribution and an efficient parallel join algorithm using the framework to handle AVS and JPS. In our algorithm, we estimate data distributions of input and output relations of join operations using the sampling methodology and evaluate join cost for the estimated data distributions. Finally, using the histogram equalization method we distribute data among nodes to achieve good load balancing among nodes in the local joining phase. For performance comparison, we present simulation model of our algorithm and other join algorithms and present the result of some simulation experiments. The results indicate that our algorithm outperforms other algorithms in the skewed case.

  • The traditional village, which is subject for this paper, can be defined as a community having unique combinations of natural, cultural, and social characteristics of that nation, which reflects settlement environments during hundreds of years. Now, in spite of tis potential power of traditional village, national strategies do not find satifsactory directions in Korea. In terms of this concenrs, this paper tries to analyze and diagnose about successful precedents(Tsumage village and Shiragawa village, Japan) with focus on the village management. And this paper aims to explore concrete management systems of Japanese cases, to find clues for practical application, and to suggest several instructive concepts in the light of management system of traditional village management. The analysis is progressed in three viewpoints(village space, village attraction, and village community). And it is extracted that diverse management systems are necessary to secure sustainable traditional village and their way of life, particularly in the face of the pressure of tourism. As a result of exploring of Japanese two cases, representative characteristics, which are found, are as follow; Fist, objective of management is not tourism development but maintenance of sustainable life system. Second, management systems are having not compulsory but spontaneous open decision making process, and in particular, village management is mainly operated by the local government and semipublic institute(inhabitants-oriented0 which have the strongest influential power in village composition units. Finally, village management programs are mostly experience-type and are composed of public law and regulations, diverse operation program, and individual efforts of inhabitants for village management. Because this paper mainly focused on two precedents, there should be more diverse cases. however, extracted conclusions have practical meanings for village management and can be used in re-establishing management concepts of Korean traditional villages.

  • Mobile transactions updating spatial objects are long transactions that can update independently local objects of mobile clients during disconnection. Validation based protocols that are well known to be appropriate for mobile transactions are required to abort a conflicted transaction in order to keep data consistent. Since abortion leads to cancel of all of tile updates, it is not desirable to use the abortion for resolving conflicts of mobile transactions. In this paper, we propose a reprocessing transaction model to resolve the update conflicts between mobile transactions without aborting them. We also design a mobile transaction server to support the reprocessing transaction and build a prototype of a mobile field system. The reprocessing transaction is a subtransaction of a newly committed mobile transaction and re-executes only conflicted objects with foreign conflicted objects. We also introduce a progressive reprocessing scheme to expose non-conflicted objects of the mobile transaction to other transactions in order to reduce starvation of reprocessing transactions.

  • This study was undertaken to investigate the corrosive wear charateristics upon various transformation condition of austempered low-alloy ductile cast iron in corrosive environments against mating specimen made of the hardened SM45C. The corrosive wear test was carried out by rubbing the annular surface of two test pieces in distilled water and aqueous solution at constant sliding speed of 0.5m/s. In severe wear region, the corrosive wear rate Wc increased hastily with NaCl concentration owing to intermetallic adhesion but Wc went down slowly in mild wear region due to lubricating effect of the corrosion product. The critical sliding distance decreased with increasing NaCl concentration due to increased generation rate of the corrosion product and the specific corrosive wear rate has maximum in 1% NaCl aqueous solution at mild wear region. With the variation of matrix, the corrosive wear resistance of the fine acicular bainite was higher than that of coarse upper bainite because of reducing the local cell reaction by carbides. A growth in volume fraction of retained austenite in matrix increased the Wc due to soften surface, but has a declining tendency of Wc in mild wear region.

  • The bicycle use activation plan reduces a greenhouse gas exhaust, and economic convenience, movement timely shortening, health effect will be able to expect but the bicycle user is few. The nationwide bicycle road projects is advanced by the countermeasure for a bicycle use activation. It is advanced a bicycle road basic plan even from each local government. The research against a route selection is advanced actively. But the research against a data process is not coming out the accurate research method. It follows a financial one bicycle road design standard from ministry of land, Transport and maritime affairs. But vertical grade in bicycle road design standard is exception becoming that about unavoidable case with geomorphic environments. From the research which it sees the existing bicycle road consider should have to make the terrain situation of yeosu, slope standard connection about under considering it presented the bicycle road route selection which is possible. It included a lane and road width with additional element and establishment in the bicycle road was produced suitable bicycle road route. The area where the mountain district is many when selecting bicycle road, will be used with application plan of slope standard.

  • The paradigm of rural development projects has shifted and expanded from agricultural production based on the way of improving the residential environments in order to achieve the quality of life staying in rural areas. The purpose of this study is to evaluate policy directions of rural development projects by investigating government projects conducted successively starting from the Participatory Government of President Roh in 2003 and to the present Government of President Moon. In consideration of administrative affairs, the projects include the Balanced National Development Project, Quality of Life Improvement and Regional Development for Rural Villages Projects. The study examined changes in visions and key agendas proposed in national affairs as well as those in the visions and strategies exhibited by local development project plans through various governments. The core contents examined are the project characteristics, transformation process through government changes, and the law of status pertaining to rural development projects. The direction of implementation for the rural development projects implemented by each government provide an opportunity of understanding the transformation process in each project that has been still effective currently. This study is expected to provide a basic set of data to be used for a proposal for new rural development projects while still being useful to be referred or integrated to other national and regional projects.

  • Phylogeographic and feeding ecological studies of seven terrestrial mustelid species (Carnivora, Mustelidae), the Japanese marten Martes melampus, the sable Martes zibellina, the Japanese badger Meles anakuma, the ermine or the stoat Mustela erminea, the Japanese weasel Mustela itatsi, the least weasel Mustela nivalis, and the Siberian weasel Mustela sibirica, representing four biogeographic patterns in the Japanese archipelagos (Hokkaido, Honshu-Shikoku-Kyushu, Tsushima, and Hokkaido-Honshu), were reviewed in order to clarify causes for the faunal assemblage processes of those mustelid species in Japan. Here, three main constraints were extracted as important factors on the mustelid assemblage. First, fundamental evolutionary differences maintained by niche conservatism in each ecologically diversified lineage ("evolutionary constraint") would enable the species to co-occur without any major problem (coexistence among Martes, Meles, and Mustela species). Second, "ecological constraints" would force two closely related species to be allopatric by competitive exclusion (Mu. itatsi and Mu. sibirica) or to be sympatric by resource partitions (Mu. erminea and Mu. nivalis). Third and most importantly, "geological constraints" would allow specific species to be embraced by a particular geographic region, primarily deciding which species co-occurs. The allopatric distribution of two Martes species in Japan would have been established by the strong effect of the geological separation in Tsugaru Strait. Elucidating both phylogeny and ecology of co-existing species in a community assemblage is important to know which species possess distinct lineage and which ecological traits are adapted to local environments, fulfilling the requirement of the field of conservation biology that endemism and adaptation should both be considered. The Japanese archipelagos would, therefore, provide valuable insight into the conservation for small carnivoran species.

  • The aim of this study is to develop evaluation indicators for parking environment in residential areas. Recently, lots of local governments in korea are implementing projects for parking environment improvement. However, there are no indicators for parking environment evaluation except for the rate of parking supply by registered cars. So, it is really difficult to prioritize projects and monitor the result of projects. Therefore, this study presents six indicators for parking environment evaluation and its weights using AHP through the survey. The result of this study proposed the assessment model for parking environment based on indicators and it was found that actual data in Incheon can be simulated in reality. And this result also is expected to help monitoring and selecting projects.
