Visualization of Bottleneck Distances for Persistence Diagram

  • Persistence homology (a type of methodology in computational algebraic topology) can be used to capture the topological characteristics of functional data. To visualize the characteristics, a persistence diagram is adopted by plotting baseline and the pairs that consist of local minimum and local maximum. We use the bottleneck distance to measure the topological distance between two different functions; in addition, this distance can be applied to multidimensional scaling(MDS) that visualizes the imaginary position based on the distance between functions. In this study, we use handwriting data (which has functional forms) to get persistence diagram and check differences between the observations by using bottleneck distance and the MDS.

  • 디지털 영상에서의 얼굴탐색은 얼굴인식을 위한 기본 단계이면서 인식 성능에 큰 영향을 미치는 중요한 처리 단계이다. 템플릿 정합 방식의 객체 검출방식에서 사용되어 얼굴 인식 등에서 좋은 성능을 보이는 Hausdorff 거리는 주어진 점의 집합들 사이에서 기하학적 유사도만을 고려한 측도이므로 원래의 영상이 포함하고 있는 다른 정보들을 추가적으로 이용함으로 효율을 높일 수 있다. 이러한 점에 착안하여 본 논문에서는 점들 사이에 서로 다른 정도를 측정하기 위해서 거리뿐만 아니라 점들 주위의 국지적 계조패턴 정보까지 포함하는 측도를 정의함으로써 보다 정밀한 템플릿 정합결과를 얻는 방법을 제안한다.

지역적 거리전파를 이용한 자동 폐 정합 (Automatic Lung Registration using Local Distance Propagation)

  • 본 논문에서는 동일 환자에 대하여 시간차론 두고 촬영한 복부 CT 영상에서 환자의 움직임에 따른 두 영상 간 차이를 보정하기 위하여 지역적 거리전파를 이용한 자동 폐 정합 방법을 제안한다. 본 제안방법은 다음과 같은 세 단계로 구성된다 첫 번째, 일련의 두 볼륨데이타에서 폐 경계를 추출한 후, 폐를 포함하는 최적경계볼륨을 생성하여 초기정합을 수행한다 두 번째, 초기에 촬영한 볼륨데이타에서 지역적 거리전파를 이용하여 폐 경계로부터 3차원 거리맵을 생성한다. 세 번째, 선택적 거리 측정을 통해 두 경계간에 거리차이가 최소인 위치로 영상을 정합한다. 실험으로 3명의 환자 데이타에 대하여 영상정합을 하였고, 기존의 챔퍼매칭 정합 방법과 수행속도와 견고성 측면에서 비교 평가하였다. 본 제안방법은 지역적 거리전파를 사용하여 생성된 3차원 거리맵을 이용한 선택적 거리측정을 통하여 최적의 위치로 빠르고 견고하게 정합된다.

병행 2회선 송전선로에서 고장점 위치 추정정보를 이용한 실시간 거리계전 알고리즘 (The Real-Time Distance Relay Algorithm Using fault Location Estimation Information for Parallel Transmission Line)

  • This paper presents the real-time implemented distance relay algorithm which the fault distance is estimated with only local terminal information. When a single-phase-to-earth fault on a two-parallel transmission line occurs, the reach accuracy of distance relay is considerably affected by the unknown variables which are fault resistance, fault current at the fault point and zero- sequence current of sound line The zero-sequence current of sound line is estimated by using the zero sequence voltage which is measured by relaying location Also. the fault resistance is removed at the Process of numerical formula expansion. Lastly, the fault current through a fault point is expressed as a function of the zero-sequence current of fault line, zero-sequence current of sound line, and line, and fault distance. Therefore, the fault phase voltage can be expressed as the quadratic equation of the fault distance. The solution of this Quadratic equation is obtained by using a coefficient of the modified quadratic equation instead of using the square root solution method. After tile accurate fault distance is estimated. the mote accurate impedance is measured by using such an information.

K-Hop Community Search Based On Local Distance Dynamics

  • Community search aims at finding a meaningful community that contains the query node and also maximizes (minimizes) a goodness metric. This problem has recently drawn intense research interest. However, most metric-based algorithms tend to include irrelevant subgraphs in the identified community. Apart from the user-defined metric algorithm, how can we search the natural community that the query node belongs to? In this paper, we propose a novel community search algorithm based on the concept of the k-hop and local distance dynamics model, which can naturally capture a community that contains the query node. The basic idea is to envision the nodes that k-hop away from the query node as an adaptive local dynamical system, where each node only interacts with its local topological structure. Relying on a proposed local distance dynamics model, the distances among nodes change over time, where the nodes sharing the same community with the query node tend to gradually move together, while other nodes stay far away from each other. Such interplay eventually leads to a steady distribution of distances, and a meaningful community is naturally found. Extensive experiments show that our community search algorithm has good performance relative to several state-of-the-art algorithms.

  • 전방 관측 적외선 영상에서 가려짐이 없는 표적과 부분적으로 가려진 표적을 식별하기 위해 국부적 표적 경계선에 대한 거리함수의 푸리에기술자와 다중의 다층 퍼셉트론을 사용한 특징정보 융합 방법을 제안한다. 표적을 배경으로부터 분리한 후에 표적 경계선의 중심을 기준으로 푸리에 기술자를 구해 전역적 특징으로 사용한다. 국부적인 형상 특징을 찾기 위해 표적 경계선을 분할하여 4개의 국부적 경계선을 만들고, 각 국부적 경계선에서 두 개의 극단점이 이루는 직선과 경계선 픽셀로부터 거리함수를 정의한다. 거리함수에 대한 푸리에 기술자를 국부적 형상특징으로 사용한다. 1개의 광역적 특징 백터와 4개의 국부적 특징 백터를 정의하고 다중의 다층 퍼셉트론을 사용하여 특징정보들을 융합함으로써 최종 표적식별 결과를 얻는다. 실험을 통해 기존의 특징벡터들에 의한 표적식별 방법과 비교하여 제안한 방법의 우수성을 입증한다.

Low-Complexity Design of Quantizers for Distributed Systems

  • We present a practical design algorithm for quantizers at nodes in distributed systems in which each local measurement is quantized without communication between nodes and transmitted to a fusion node that conducts estimation of the parameter of interest. The benefits of vector quantization (VQ) motivate us to incorporate the VQ strategy into our design and we propose a low-complexity design technique that seeks to assign vector codewords into sets such that each codeword in the sets should be closest to its associated local codeword. In doing so, we introduce new distance metrics to measure the distance between vector codewords and local ones and construct the sets of vector codewords at each node to minimize the average distance, resulting in an efficient and independent encoding of the vector codewords. Through extensive experiments, we show that the proposed algorithm can maintain comparable performance with a substantially reduced design complexity.

  • This paper proposes an efficient method constructing a local map using the data of a scanning laser range finder. A laser range finder yields distance data of polar form, that is, distance data corresponding to every scanning directions. So, the data consists of directional angle and distance. We propose a new method to find a line fitting with a set of such data. The method uses Log-Hough Transformation. Usually, map building from these data requires some transformations between different coordinate systems. The new method alleviates such complication. Also, the method simplifies computation for line recognition and eliminates the slope quantization problems inherent in the classical Cartesian Hough transform method. To show the efficiency of the proposed method, it is applied to find a local map using the data from a laser range finder PLS(Proximity Laser Scanner, made by SICK).

여유 자유도 로봇의 실시간 충돌 회피 (Real-time obstacle avoidance for redundant manipulator)

  • A new approach based on artificial potential function is proposed for the obstacle avoidance of redundant manipulators. Unlike the so-called "global" path planning method, which requires expensive computation for the path search before the manipulator starts to move, this new approach, "local" path planning, researches the path in real-time using the local distance information. Previous use of artificial potential function has exhibited local minima in some complex environments. This thesis proposes a potential function that has no local minima even for a cluttered environment. This potential function has been implemented for the collision avoidance of a redundant robot in Simulation. The simulation also employ an algorithm that eliminates collisions with obstacles by calculating the repulsive potential exerted on links, based on the shortest distance to object.

Effect of Home-Host Country Psychic Distance (HHCPD) Perception of Chinese Tourists on Tourism Shopping Motivation and Fashion Brand Attitudes in Korea

  • The contribution of foreign tourist consumption on national economies is becoming increasingly important for many countries. This study examines the relationship of home-host country psychic distance (HHCPD), tourism shopping motivation and attitudes towards local and global fashion brands in host countries. Survey data from a sample of 500 Chinese tourists were collected at an international airport in Korea. The results reveal that all three key factors of HHCPD (economic, geographic and cultural distance) positively affect social shopping motivation. Moreover, only economic distance has a positive effect on commodity shopping motivation, while both cultural and economic distance positively influence souvenir shopping motivation. All three factors of tourism shopping motivation positively affect local fashion brand attitudes, while only commodity shopping motivation positively affects consumer attitudes towards global fashion brands. Thus, fashion marketers should trigger the shopping motivation of foreign tourists by maximising the psychic distance from their home in order to satisfy fashion-seeking tourists.
