TIM barrel domain is widely studied since it is one of most common structure and mediates diverse function maintaining overall structure. TIM barrel domain's function is determined by local structural environment at the C-terminal end of barrel structure. We classified TIM barrel domains by local structural alignment tool, LSHEBA, to understand characteristics of TIM barrel domain's functionalvariation. TIM barrel domains classified as the same cluster share common structure, function and ligands. Over 80% of TIM barrels in clusters share exactly the same catalytic function. Comparing clustering result with that of SCOP, we found that it's important to know local structural environment of TIM barrel domains rather than overallstructure to understand specific structural detail of TIM barrel function. Non TIM barrel domains were associated to make different domain combination to form a different function. The relationship between domain combination, we suggested expected evolutional history. We finally analyzed the characteristics of amino acids around ligand interface.

The effects of the local lifetime control on the characteristics of IGBT are investigated using the 2-dimensional device simulator, MEDICI. Many lumped resistive turn-off simulations are carried out to analyze the effects of the minority carrier lifetime, the width, and the position of the region with a reduced local minority carrier lifetime. As a result of these simulations, it is concluded that the on state voltage drop$(V_{CE,SAT})$ is only slightly increased while the switching behavior is greatly improved if the low lifetime region is properly set. And these results are compared with IGBTs having uniform lifetime.

In this study, the effect of channel flow in the concave surface on local heat transfer characteristics of array jets was investigated experimentally. A TLC method is employed to determine local heat transfer coefficients on the target plate and also flow visualization has been conducted to investigate the behavior of a row of impinging jets and array of impinging jets. Two different array patterns of impinging array jets devices are tested for Reynolds number(Re=10,000). In a row of impinging jets, secondary vortex is strongly maintained by main vortex at nozzle-to-plate distance of H/d=2. Therefore, the Nusselt number slowly decreased at the mid-way region between adjacent jets. In array jets, the local maximum Nusselt number region move further in the downstream direction due to the increase of channel flow velocity.

Aluminum rear lower arm is designed for luxury sedan and manufactured by hollow sand casting in the present study. Here we present the relationship between local microstructure and coupon tensile test in the rear lower arm. The characteristics of the local tensile deformation are supposed to be dependent upon Si distribution and DAS (dendrite arm spacing). Si distribution affects the yield strength and DAS affects the elongation of local area in the part, respectively.

The aim of this paper is to investigate the characteristics of the signal of local ice load acting on side shell in the bow part due to ice broken by an icebreaker in ice-covered waters. The Korean icebreaking research vessel "ARAON" voyaged to the Arctic Ocean during the summer of 2010, and measurements of local ice load were carried out using several strain gauges. In this study, the time history of measured signals was analyzed and the characteristic values including rising time and half-decaying time were presented using non-dimensional parameters.

This paper presents a new concept of a reconfigurable manipulator system which adjusts its mechanical structure to suit the kinematic characteristics of a given task. A highly redundant manipulator designed as a general purpose manipulator needs to be reconfigured for a specific task. A general task can be decomposed of motion and force components with different control requirements: either gross motion control or fine motion control. Each of these task components are distributed to each part of the manipulator based on the control requirements and the structure of the manipulator. Through the reconfiguration, a redundant manipulator is decomposed into two local arms, and the kinematic characteristics of each local arm is adjusted to suit the assigned task. The reconfigured redundant manipulator has two local arms well-configured for the local tasks and cooperating in serial for a given task. This globally enhances the performance of a redundant manipulator to execute a specific task. The simulation results are shown.

Int this paper, we studied the analysis on long-term durability and output power characteristics of PV modules by variation on local thermal property. Using 5 modules(80W), we measured the maximum output power change during the test period. And the optical transmittance of glass was compared with PV module's maximum power fluctuation. The external environment change effected contamination on the entire or local surface of module. This caused the local temperature variation of each solar cell on PV module. The specific analysis is shown in the following paper.

Aging phenomenon is an important issue in Korea national policy. This aging phenomenon depends on the social and environmental characteristics of regions. Also aging phenomenon and regional characteristics have spatial dependency. The purpose of this study is to discover the spatial changes in aging population rate and to find local factors of regional aging phenomenon considering spatial autocorrelation. For spatial analysis of ageing phenomenon, local Moran's I and Geographically Weighted Regression (GWR) were applied. As the results, the most significant changes of aging phenomenon appeared between 2000 and 2005, and most of hot-spot regions (aged regions) were distributed in Jullanam-do and Jullabuk-do. The results of GWR (R-square: 0.681) shows that total fertility rate, the number of doctor per 1,000 people and forest area rate have positive relation with aging population rate, but the number of private academy per 1,000 people has negative relation.

본 논문에서는 칼라 영상에서 적목(red eye)의 자동 검출 및 제거 방법을 제안한다. 제안한 방법은 적색도(redness)와 기하학적 특징에 기반하여 초기 적목 영역을 검출하고, 초기 적목 영역 주위의 국소적 특성을 반영하여 최종 적목 영역을 검출한다. 최종 적목 영역에 대해 소프트 제거에 기반한 방법을 사용하여 적목을 제거한다. 실험에서 제안한 방법은 Willamowski와 Csurka[1]의 방법에 비해 적목 영역의 검출과 제거 결과가 개선되었다.

In this paper, we propose wavelet-based procedures to identify the difference between images, including portraits and handwriting. The proposed methods are based on a novel combination of multiscale methods with a regularization technique. The multiscale method extracts the local characteristics of an image, and the distinct features are obtained through the regularized regression of the local characteristics. The regularized regression approach copes with the high-dimensional problem to build the relation between the local characteristics. Lytle and Yang (2006) introduced the detection method of forged handwriting via wavelets and summary statistics. We expand the scope of their method to the general image and significantly improve the results. We demonstrate the promising empirical evidence of the proposed method through various experiments.
