This paper provides approximate J estimates for off-centred, circumferential through-wall cracks in cylinders under bending and under combined tension and bending. The proposed method is based on the reference stress approach, where the dependence of elastic and plastic influence functions of J on the cylinder/crack geometry, the off-centred angle and strain hardening is minimised through the use of a proper normalising load. Based on published limited FE results for off-centred, circumferential through-wall cracks under bending, such normalising load is found, based on which the reference stress based J estimates are proposed for more general cases, such as for a different cylinder geometry and for combined loading. Comparison of the estimated J with extensive FE J results shows overall good agreements for different crack/cylinder geometries and for combined tension and bending, which provides sufficient confidence in the use of the proposed method to fracture mechanics analyses of off-centred circumferential cracks. Furthermore, the proposed method is simple to use, giving significant merits in practice.
High temperature deformation behavior of Fe-28Al-5Cr alloy has been investigated known to show anomalous temperature dependence of yield strength. Specifically, the effect of Cr addition has been examined. A series of tensile and load relaxation tests have been carried out to obtain the flow behavior of Fe-28Al-5Cr alloy at the elevated temperatures. The flow curves have then been analyzed using the inelastic deformation theory recently proposed. Firstly, high temperature flow stress of iron aluminides can be resolved into internal stress and frictional stress. Secondly, the temperature corresponding to peak strength gets higher level at faster strain rate, which presumably due to the increased contribution of internal stress in observed flow stress. And thirdly, the alloying of Cr seems to cause solid-solution strengthening of frictional stress level and the elevation of 2nd order transition temperature. In this analogy, Fe-28Al-5Cr exhibits better strength especially at relatively higher temperature and lower strain rate than Fe-28Al.

The high temperature deformation behavior of $SiC_p/Al-Si$ composites and Al-Si matrix was studied by hot torsion test in a range of temperature from $270^{\circ}C$ to $520^{\circ}C$ and at strain rate range of $1.2{\times}10_{-3}~2.16{\times}10_{-1}/sec$. The hot restoration mechanisms for both matrix and composites were found to be dynamic recrystallization(DRX) from the investigation of flow curves and microstructural evolutions. The Si precipitates and SiC particles promoted DRX, and the peak strain$({\varepsilon}_p)$ of the composites was smaller than that of the matrix. Flow stresses of $SiC_p/Al-Si$ composites were found to be generally higher than the matrix, but the difference was quite small at higher temperature due to the decrease of capability of load transfer by SiC particles. With increasing temperature, failure strain of matrix and composites are inclined to increase, the increasing value of failure strain for the $SiC_p/Al-Si$ composites was small compared to that of matrix. The stress dependence of both materials on strain rate() and temperature(T) was examined by hyperbolic sine law, $\.{\varepsilon}=A_1[sinh({\alpha}{\cdot}{\sigma})]_n$exp(-Q/RT)
The potential deep geothermal resources span a wide range of heat sources from the earth, including not only the more easily developed, currently economic hydrothermal resources; but also the earth's deeper, stored thermal energy, which is present anywhere. At shallow depths of 3,000~10,000m, the coincidence of substantial amounts heat in hot rock, fluids that heat up while flowing through the rock and permeability of connected fractures can result in natural hot water reservoirs. Although conventional hydrothermal resources which contain sufficient fluids at high temperatures and geo-pressures are used effectively for both electric and nonelectric applications in the world, they are somewhat limited in their location and ultimate potential for supplying electricity. A large portion of the world's geothermal resource base consists of hot dry rock(HDR) with limited permeability and porosity, an inadquate recharge of fluids and/or insufficient water for heat transport. An alternative known as engineered or enhanced geothermal systems(EGS), to dependence on naturally occurring hydrothermal reservoirs involves human intervention to engineer hydrothermal reservoirs in hot rocks for commercial use. Therefore EGS resources are with enormous potential for primary energy recovery using an engineered heat mining technology, which is designed to extract and utilize the earth's stored inexthermal energy. Because EGS resources have a large potential for the long term, United States focused his effort to provide 100GW of 24-hour-a-day base load electric-generating capacity by 2050.
A 1.5V 70㏈ 100MHz CMOS class-AB complementary operational amplifier is presented. For obtaining the high gain and the high unity gain frequency, the input stage of the amplifier is designed with rail-to-rail complementary differential pairs which are symmetrically parallel-connected with the NMOS and the PMOS differential input pairs, and the output stage is designed to the rail-to-rail class-AB output stage including the elementary shunt stage technique. With this design technique for output stage, the load dependence of the overall open loop gain is improved and the push-pull class-AB current control can be implemented in a simple way. The designed operational amplifier operates perfectly on the complementary mode with 180$^{\circ}$ phase conversion for 1.5V supply voltage, and shows the push-pull class-AB operation. In addition, the amplifier shows the DC open loop gain of 70.4 ㏈ and the unity gain frequency of 102 MHz for $C_{L=10㎊∥}$$R_{L=1㏁}$ Parallel loads. When the resistive load $R_{L}$ is varied from 1 ㏁ to 1 ㏀, the DC open loop gain of the amplifier decreases by only 2.2 ㏈.a$, the DC open loop gain of the amplifier decreases by only 2.2 dB.

In this paper, a 1.5 V high-gain high-frequency CMOS complementary operational amplifier is presented. The input stage of op-amp is designed for supporting the constant transconductance on the Input stage by consisting of the parallel-connected rail-to-rail complementary differential pairs. And consisting of the class-AB rail-to-rail output stage using the concept of elementary shunt stage and the grounded-gate cascode compensation technique for improving the low PSRR which was a disadvantage in the general CMOS complementary input stage, the load dependence of open loop gain and the stability of op- amp on the output load are improved, and the high-gain high-frequency operation can be achieved. The designed op-amp operates perfectly on the complementary mode with the 180° phase conversion for a 1.5 V supply voltage, and shows the DC open loop gain of 84 dB, the phase margin of 65°, and the unity gain frequency of 20 MHz. In addition, the amplifier shows the 0.1 % settling time of .179 ㎲ for the positive step and 0.154 ㎲ for the negative step on the 100 mV small-signal step, respectively, and shows the total power dissipation of 8.93 mW.

An energy based crack growth model is developed in this study to simulate the propagation of top-down cracking in asphalt pavements. A viscoelastic fracture mechanics approach, generalized J integral, is employed to model the crack growth of asphalt concrete. Laboratory fatigue crack propagation tests for three different asphalt mixtures are performed at various load levels, frequencies and temperatures. Disk-shaped specimens with a proper loading fixture and crack growth monitoring system are selected for the tests. It is observed from the tests that the crack propagation model based on the generalized J integral is independent of load levels and frequencies, while the traditional Paris' law model based on stress intensity factor is dependent of loading frequencies. However, both models are unable to take care of the temperature dependence of the mixtures. The fatigue crack propagation model proposed in this study has a good agreement between experimental and predicted crack growth lives, which implies that the energy based J integral could be a better parameter to describe fatigue crack propagation of viscoelastic materials such as asphalt mixtures.
The automated ball indentation(ABI) test was utilized to develop a semi-nondestructive method for estimating the fracture toughness( $K_{JC}$ ) in the transition temperature range. The key concept of the method is that the indentation deformation energy to the load at which the mean ball-specimen contact pressure reaches the fracture stress is related to the fracture energy of the material. ABI tests were performed for the reactor pressure vessel(RPV) base and weld metals at the temperatures of-15$0^{\circ}C$~$0^{\circ}C$ and the fracture toughness (estimated $K_{JC}$ ) was calculated from the indentation load-depth data. For all steels the temperature dependence of the estimated fracture toughness was almost the same as that ASTM $K_{JC}$ master curve The reference temperatures( $T_{o}$)of the steels were determined form the estimated $K_{JC}$ versus temperature curves. The reference temperature was well correlated with the index temperature of 41J Charpy impact energy( $T_{41J}$).).).
