Development of an external twin-fluid nozzle for Selective Catalytic Reduction (선택적 촉매 환원법을 위한 외부 혼합형 이유체 노즐 개발에 대한 실험적 연구)

  • The effect of the working fluid flow conditions and nozzle geometry on the spray performance of a twin-fluid nozzle used in Selective Catalytic Reduction is investigated experimentally. The liquid pressure is varied in the range of 0.3atm to 1.5atm and the air pressure is varied from the 0.5atm to 3.0atm. relative position between liquid nozzle(internal nozzle) and air nozzle(external nozzle) tip changes front 1mm inside the air nozzle to 1mm outside the air nozzle. The orifice diameter of the air nozzle is varied with 5mm. 6mm and 7mm. Spray visualization is realized with CCD-Camera. SMD(Sauter Mean Diameter) and mean particle velocities are measured by PDPA(Phase Doppler Particle Analyzer) under various experimental conditions. The measuring point is 300mm away from the nozzle tip in the downstream spray. The experimental results are that spray angle is depended air flow rate because nozzle diameter, air pressure and nozzle tip relative positions are related air flow rate. SMD is depended air flow rate and water flow rate. Also, SMD is increased when water flow rate is bigger. SMD is decreased when Air flow rate is bigger.

The Frequency Characteristics of Radiated Electromagnetic Waves in accordance with AC Discharge Progress in Liquid Nitrogen (액체질소중 교류방전 진전에 따른 방사전자파 주파수 특성)

  • In this study, a relationship between AC discharge progress and the radiated electromagnetic waves were investigated by measuring electromagnetic waves using a biconical antenna and a spectrum analyzer. The characteristics of frequency spectrum of the radiated electromagnetic waves was measured at the atmospheric pressure in liquid nitrogen($LN_2$) during partial discharges progress in nonuniform electric field depend on AC power supply. From this results, it was confirmed that when partial discharge was produced in liquid nitrogen, the signal of partial discharge was detected by frequency spectrum of the radiated electromagnetic waves. It is considered that these results obtained from this investigation may be used as fundamental data for diagnosis and prediction of insulation on superconducting and cryogenic power equipments.

  • A thermotropic liquid crystalline polymer (TLCP) containing a flexible spacer was synthesized from hydroquinone, p-hydrofybenzoic acid, and 1,6-dibromohexane. Intercalation of TLCP in layered clays is accomplished by heating the polymer with dodecyl ammonium-montmorillonite (C$_{12}$-MMT) above melt transition temperature (T$_{m}$). Liquid crystallinity of the TLCP/C$_{12}$-MMT hybrid was not observed when $C_{12}$-MMT content was above 1 wt%. Some of the $C_{12}$-MMTs in TLCP were highly dispersed in a nanometer scale, but some of them were agglomerated. Thermal and morphological properties of the nanocomposites were examined by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermogravimetric analyzer (TGA), polarized optical microscope, and electron microscopes (SEM and TEM).   • Thermal Analyses are conducted to measure various factors of a liquid fuel required for numerical analysis. Thermal Analyses are divided into two different methods of TGA (Thermo Gravimetric Analysis) and DSC (Differential Scanning Calorimetry). Non-isothermal experimental results are analyzed using by TGA. The results are filtered by a Freeman Carroll method. At the same time, chemical parameters of unknown liquid fuel, activation temperature and reaction order are measured to 6128.2 K and 1.4, respectively. Furthermore, the parameters can be obtained by various mathematical methods. It is found that tha parameters depend on the processing method.

  • The 5 mol% ZnO doped $LiNbO_3$ film and the 2 mol% MgO doped $LiNbO_3$ film were grown on the $LiNbO_3$ (001) substrate by liquid phase epitaxy (LPE) method with $Li_2CO_3-V_2O_5$ flux system. The crytsallinity and the lattice mismatch between $Zn:LiNbO_3$, film and $Mg:LiNbO_3$, film were analyzed by x-ray rocking curve (XRC). In addition, the ZnO and MgO distribution in the cross-section of the multilayer thin films was observed using electron probe micro analyzer (EPMA).

A Study on the Statistical Analysis of the Flow Characteristics of Droplet in the Cross Region of Twin Spray (이중분무 교차지역에서의 액적유동특성의 통계학적 분석에 관한 연구)

  • This study investigated mainly on the flow characteristics of a droplet in the cross region of twin spray. The velocities of the droplet were measured along the axial and radial direction, and the flow characteristics of the droplet were statistically analyzed. For the statistical analysis, the probability density of the turbulent components has been studied, and then the Reynolds shear stress, the skewness and the flatness factors were calculated, and compared with the Gaussian value. Two pressure swirl stomizers were used for the twin spray system and kerosene was employed as the working liquid. 2-D PDA(particle dynamic analyzer) was used for the purpose of the measurement of droplet size and velocities. As a result, it was found that (1) the droplets collision was taken place strongly in the cross region. So, a large momentum loss of droplets due to the loss of natural movement direction was occurred, and momentum loss of radial direction was greater than that of axial direction. (2) The axial direction skewness factor approached to zero like the Gaussian distribution in the cross region of twin spray. (3) In the cross region of twin spray, the fluctuation instability of droplet was increased because of the development of the turbulence characteristics due to the droplet collision.

A Study on the Spray Atomization Characteristics of a Multi-Hole Diesel Nozzle using PDPA System (PDPA계측에 의한 다공 디젤 노즐의 분무 미립화 특성에 관한 연구)

  • The spray characteristics of a direct injection multi-hole diesel nozzle having the 2-spring nozzle holder were investigated by using the image processing system and a PDPA(phase Bowler particle analyzer) system. The spray tip penetration, the spray angle, and the droplet diameter and velocity with the variation of the pump speed, injection quantity were measured. From, the experiments, we know that there are small droplets which are not to be detected with spray image around the leading edge of the spray. In order to represent the mean characteristics of the intermittent spray very well, it is very important to set the time windows accurately. From the measurements along the axis of the spray, close to the nozzle, the initially injected droplets are overtaken by droplets that follow them. And also there are the maximum axial mean velocity and SMD at the following part of the leading edge of the spray.

  • The droplet and the turbulent characteristics of a counterflowing internal mixing pneumatic nozzle mainly focused. The measurements were made using a Phase Doppler Particle Analyzer under the different air pressures. The nozzle with tangential-drilled holes at an angle of 30 to the central axis has been designed. The spatial distributions of velocities, fluctuating velocities, droplet diameters and SMD were quantitatively and qualitatively fluctuating velocities were substantially higher than the radial and the tangential ones. This implies that the disintegration process is enhanced with the higher air pressure. The larger droplets were detected near the spray centerline at the upstream while the smaller ones were generated at the downstream. This was attributed to the lower rates of spherical particles which were not subject to instantaneous breakup. However, substantial increases in SMD from the central part tower spray periphery were predictable in downstream regions.

  • The influence of fuel spray characteristics on engine performance has been known as one of the major concerns to Improve fuel economy and to reduce exhaust emissions. In general, the UBHC(Unburned Hydrocarbon) emission could be reduced by decreasing the droplet size of the fuel sprays. In PFI (Port Fuel Injection) gasoline engines, the mixture of air and fuel would not be uniform under a certain condition, because the breakup and production of spray droplets are made in a short distance between the fuel injector and intake valve sheat. In this study, were investigated the transient spray characteristics and dynamic behavior of droplets from 2holes-2sprays and 4holes-2sprays type injectors used in PFI gasoline engine. Mean droplet size and optical concentration were measured by LDPA (Laser Diffraction Particle size Analyzer). The variation of droplet mean diameter and optical concentration were measured for understanding the behavior of unsteady spray.

  • In this paper, we implemented holographic optical memory systm which can store and reconstruct many images using new input and angular multiplexing method. In the new input method, phase infomation of input image is inputed in the recording material instead of brightness information. To do so, we represented the images, which captured with CCD camera or displayed on the computer monitor, on the liquid crystal television(LCTV) which removed polarizer/analyzer. Therefore, we can generate uniform input beam intensity regardless of the total brightness of input image, and apply the scheduled recording method. Also we can increase the intensity of input beam so reduce the recording time of input image. And reconstructedimage is acquired by transforming phase information into brightness information of image with analyzer. The incident angle of reference beam is acquired by Fourier transform of the binary phase hologram(BPH) which designed with SA algorithm on the LCTV. The proposed optical memory system is stable because the incident angle of the reference beam is controlled easy and electronically. We demonstreated optical experiment which store and reconstruct various type images in BaTiO$_{3}$ using proposed holographic memory system.
