The major factors affecting productivity on daily farms in Queensland, Australia, were determined using the stepwise linear regression approach. The data were obtained from a survey conducted on the total population of daily farms in Queensland in 1987. These data were divided into six major dailying regions. The technique was applied using 12 independent variables believed by a panel of experienced research and extension personnel to exert the most influence on milk production. The regression equations were all significant (p < 0.001) with the percentage coefficients of determination ranging from 62 to 76% for equations developed using' total farm milk: production as the dependent variable. Three of the variables affecting total farm milk: production were found to be common to all six regions. These were; the amount of supplementary energy fed, the area set aside to irrigate winter feed and the size of the area used for dailying. Higher production farms appeared to be more efficient in that they consistently produced milk production levels higher than those estimated from the regression equation for their region. Other methods of analysis including robust regression and non linear regression techniques were unsuccessful in overcoming this problem and allowing development of a model appropriate for farms at all levels of production.

This study was performed to suggest the mediocre prediction equation of chloride diffusion coefficient which is used to estimate the service life of marine concrete, in order to provide the useful data for concrete mix design of marine concrete. As a result, the mediocre prediction equation of chloride diffusion coefficient which set W/B and mineral admixture replacement ratio as parameters was presented by performing the multivariate non linear regression analysis.
Background: Due to the emergence of new diseases such as COVID-19, an increasing number of people are struggling with stress and depression. Interest is growing in forest-based recreation for physical and mental relief. Objectives: A prediction model equation using meteorological factors and data was developed to predict the quantities of medicinal substances generated in forests (monoterpenes) in real-time. Methods: The concentration of phytoncide and meteorological factors in the forests near Chuncheon in South Korea were measured for nearly two years. Meteorological factors affecting the observation data were acquired through a multiple regression analysis. A model equation was developed by applying a linear regression equation with the main factors. Results: The linear regression analysis revealed a high explanatory power for the coefficients of determination of temperature and humidity in the coniferous forest (R2=0.7028 and R2=0.5859). With a temperature increase of 1℃, the phytoncide concentration increased by 31.7 ng/Sm3. A humidity increase of 1% led to an increase in the coniferous forest by 21.9 ng/Sm3. In the deciduous forest, the coefficients of determination of temperature and humidity had approximately 60% explanatory power (R2=0.6611 and R2=0.5893). A temperature increase of 1℃ led to an increase of approximately 9.6 ng/Sm3, and 1% humidity resulted in a change of approximately 6.9 ng/Sm3. A prediction model equation was suggested based on such meteorological factors and related equations that showed a 30% error with statistical verification. Conclusions: Follow-up research is required to reduce the prediction error. In addition, phytoncide data for each region can be acquired by applying actual regional phytoncide data and the prediction technique proposed in this study.
Objectives: Students in elementary schools usually wash their hands in a washstand. However, little attention is paid to the washstand itself. Today, the importance of personal sanitation and hygiene is greatly emphasized. Therefore students' parents and the public are growing increasingly interested in accessibility to washstands by elementary school students in their schools. Methods: With respect to this study, a survey of students and teachers inelementary schools was performed on the installation of washstands in order to determine the proper number of washstands per school. Results: The results show that 1.1 boys (per class) need a washstand, while 1.8 girls (per class) do so in order to maintain a 50% level of crowdedness. By of the regression equation, to maintain 50% congestion (50% of all students feel congestion) there should be 18.5 boys, and the 15.76 girls per washstand. Table 3 is based on the above results, the number of students per washstand (x) and congestion (y), separated by gender according to the results of regression analysis, the correlation of male models in the linear regression analysis and correlation of girls in the regression equation can be obtained. The linear regression fit of less than 0.7 determines that the coefficients of determination are 0.5399 and 0.4195, respectively. Significance was much smaller. Also, according to the simulation using the diffusion model, with 29 students per class more than one washstand should be provided in a school. Girls (per class) need 0.7 more washstands than boys (per class). Conclusions: More washstand facilities for girls than boys are needed. If the target is based on school class size two washstands should be installed. Finally, guidelines and/or standards in the Schools Health Act of Korea forin elementary school washstands is considerably needed.

For the development of a model to predict absorbed salt quantity in radish during salting, absorbed salt quantity and water content change in radish by the hour were measured at 5%, 10%, 15% brine concentration and $10^{\circ}C,\;20^{\circ}C,\;30^{\circ}C$ respectively. Absorbed salt quantity in radish by the time showed logarithmic function, absorbed salt quantity by brine concentration and temperature showed linear relation. A model to predict absorbed salt quantity in radish at each time, brine concentration and temperature was calculated by the regression program of SPSS. Apparent diffusivity of salt in radish was calculated from appropriated diffusion equation solution of Fick's second law using computer simulation. Salt diffusivity in radish increased as brine concentration increased and the effect of temperature could by expressed by Arrhenius equation. A model equation which could predict salt diffusivity was developed by regression analysis. To specify relation between salt quantity which absorbed into radish and water content which removed out of it, Flux ratio(${\Delta}W/{\Delta}S$) was calcuated. The values showed that the removed water content was greater than the absorbed salt quantity.
This study was conducted to investigate the influence of shading treatment on the photosynthetic rate, transpiration rate, stomatal conductance and its any correlations in Liriope platyphylla $W_{ANG}\;et\;T_{ANG}$. Followings were achieved as a conclusion. The net photosynthetic rate was increased as the PAR was increased and reached maximum at the $700-1000{\mu}mol/m^2/s$ of PAR in all of leaves, also this treatment caused a higher net photosynthetic rate in comparison with control. It shows the tendency of increasing stomatal conductance caused by the increment of PAR. The diurnal changes of photosynthesis, transpiration rate and stomatal conductance were increased as the PAR was increased in the morning, but they indicated a decreased tendency in broad day. The relationship between net photosynthetic rate and stomatal conductance is well fit by the first regression linear equation. However, the values obtained from the linear equation have the different, respectively, and have highly significance. From the above results, net photosynthetic rate of shading treatment is higher than control in the same stomatal conductance. Different first regression linear equation were obtained between the transpiration rate and stomatal conductance, photosynthesis and stomatal conductance in during the control and shading treatment, too.

Due to the climate change the drought had been occurring more frequently in recent two decades as compared to the previous years. The change in the pattern and frequency of the rainfall have a direct effect on the farming sector; therefore, the quantitative estimation of water supply is necessary for efficient agricultural water reservoir management. In past researches, there had been several studies conducted in estimation and evaluation of water supply based on the irrigational water requirement. However, some researches had shown significant differences between the theoretical and observed data based on this requirement. Thus, this study aims to propose an approach in estimating reservoir rate based on empirical method that utilized observed reservoir rate data. The result of these two methods in comparison with the previous one is seen to be more fitted for both R2 and RMSE with the observed reservoir rate. Among these procedures, the method that considers the drought year data shows more fitted outcomes. In addition, this new method was verified using 15-year (2002 to 2006) linear regression equation and then compare the preceeding 3-year (1999 to 2001) data to the theoretical method. The result using linear regression equation is also perceived to be more closely fitted to the observed reservoir rate data than the one based on theoretical irrigation water requirement. The new method developed in this research can therefore be used to provide more suitable supply data, and can contribute to effectively managing the reservoir operation in the country.
In this study, the regional frequency analysis is used to determine each subbasin drought frequency with reliable monthly precipitation and the L-Moments method which is almost unbiased and has very nearly a normal distribution is used for the parameter estimation of monthly precipitation time series in Nakdong river basin. As the result of this study, the duration of '93-'94 is most severe drought year than any other water year and the drought frequency is established as compared the regional frequency analysis result of cumulative precipitation of 12th duration months in each subbasin with that of 12th duration months in the major drought duration. The Linear regression equation is induced according to linear regression analysis of drought frequency between Nakdong total basin and each subbasin of the same drought duration. Therefore, as the foundation of this study, it can be applied proposed method and procedure of this study to the water budget analysis considering safety standards for the design of impounding facilities large-scale river basin and for this purpose, above all, it is considered that expansion of reliable preciptation data is needed in watershed rainfall station.

Given the small bit allocation for motion information in very low bit-rate coding, motion estimation using the block matching algorithm(BMA) fails to maintain an acceptable level of prediction errors. The reson is that the motion model, or spatial transformation, assumed in block matching cannot approximate the motion in the real world precisely with a small number of parameters. In order to overcome the drawback of the conventional block matching algorithm, several triangle-based methods which utilize triangular patches insead of blocks have been proposed. To estimate the motions of image sequences, these methods usually have been based on the combination of optical flow equation, affine transform, and iteration. But the compuataional cost of these methods is expensive. This paper presents a fast motion estimation algorithm using a multiple linear regression model to solve the defects of the BMA and the triange-based methods. After describing the basic 2-D triangle-based method, the details of the proposed multiple linear regression model are presented along with the motion estimation results from one standard video sequence, representative of MPEG-4 class A data. The simulationresuls show that in the proposed method, the average PSNR is improved about 1.24 dB in comparison with the BMA method, and the computational cost is reduced about 25% in comparison with the 2-D triangle-based method.

Optimal supervisory control strategy for the set points of controlled variables in the central cooling system has been studied by computer simulation. A quadratic linear regression equation for predicting the total cooling system power in terms of the controlled and uncontrolled variables was developed using simulated data collected under different values of controlled and uncontrolled variables. The optimal set temperatures such as supply air temperature, chilled water temperature, and condenser water temperature, are determined such that energy consumption is minimized as uncontrolled variables, load, ambient wet bulb temperature, and sensible heat ratio, are changed. The chilled water loop pump and cooling tower fan speeds are controlled by the PID controller such that the supply air and condenser water set temperatures reach the set points designated by the optimal supervisory controller. The influences of the controlled variables on the total system and component power consumption was determined. It is possible to minimize total energy consumption by selecting the optimal set temperatures through the trade-off among the component powers. The total system power is minimized at lower supply, higher chilled water, and lower condenser water set temperature conditions.
