철도차량용 선형전동기(LSRM) 위치검출 모델링 (Position Detecting Modeling of Linear Switched Reluctance Motor(LSRM) for Railway Vehicles)

  • In fact, in order to obtain good performances and low torque ripple, a high-resolution sensor is needed, which is costly and usually needs a special construction for the machine. So researchers are becoming aware of their cost and are exploring the possibility of cost reduction. Information of rotor position is necessary to drive Linear Switched Reluctance Motor(LSRM). Therefore, linear optical encoder is used to detect a mover position. Normally, since the price of encoder, which is used for linear motor is relatively higher than the one used for rotory motor and the cost of additional equipment increases with the length of motor. This is not always appropriate, considering economical efficiency in case of using the linear optical encoder. As a results, LSRM has a great part for the total cost. Therefore, in this paper, we propose LSRM position detecting modeling with reflective type photo-sensor. Additionally, we have investigated the possibility of the reduced position sensor for LSRM drives with advanced control technique. To certify the overall characteristics of the proposed method, a simulation using PSIM software has been carried out and the informative results are displayed.

  • In this paper, a decoupler of tandem cold rolling mill is designed. Before designing the decoupler, this paper improved conventional linear model by considering friction and yield stress of rolling strip. In a stand, the decoupler let an output be controlled by an input. And even if states of other stands should be changed, current stand takes no interference from those changes. In addition, with the same method, a feedforward controller is designed for an input strip thickness error. Finally, performance of controllers above is shown with nonlinear simulation.

전문가시스템의 성능평가에 관한 연구 : 렌즈모델분석 (A Study on the Evaluation of an Expert System에s Performance : Lens Model Analysis)

  • Since human decision making behavior is likely to follow nonlinear strategy, it is conjectured that the human decision making behavior can be modeled better by nonlinear models than by linear models. All that linear models can do is to approximate rather than model the decision behavior. This study attempts to test this conjecture by analyzing human decision making behavior and combining the results of the analysis with predictive performance of both linear models and nonlinear models. In this way, this study can examine the relationship between the predictive performance of models and the existence of valid nonlinear strategy in decision making behavior. This study finds that the existence of nonlinear strategy in decision making behavior is highly correlated with the validity of the decision (or the human experts). The second finding concerns the significant correlations between the model performance and the existence of valid nonlinear strategy which is detected by Lens Model. The third finding is that as stronger the valid nonlinear strategy becomes, the better nonlinear models predict significantly than linear models. The results of this study bring an important concept, validity of nonlinear strategy, to modeling human experts. The inclusion of the concept indicates that the prior analysis of human judgement may lead to the selection of proper modeling algorithm. In addition, lens Model Analysis is proved to be useful in examining the valid nonlinearity in human decision behavior.

  • Recently, research on the application of BIM has continuously been active not only in architecture but also in civil engineering in order to improve work efficiency across the project's planning, design, construction and maintenance phases. However, the empirical applications of BIM targeting to civil engineering scope of construction sites still lags compared to architectural sized projects. This is because BIM tools are mainly based upon vertical structures of architecture, thereby most of them have difficulties and limitations to get utilized on horizontal structures of civil engineering. Therefore, this study intends to propose automation technology of design using BIM library and to indicate its field availability through case application on a railway project representing linear infrastructure. In addition, it put forward the utilization plan of the automation technology upto 4D and 5D by continue making use of the BIM model created in the project's design stage up through the maintenance stage. The novel method of the technology proposed in this paper incorporates the automatic creation of the BIM library based on two-dimensional tunnel cross-sections and sweeping of it over three-dimensional alignment to create a BIM model of linear infrastructure. The proposed technology is anticipated to improve the efficiecny of modeling process of railway projects based on linear structures.

  • The linear motor available for linear transition motion, because of its advantages, the motor design and its application have gradually increased, but the quantitative measurement system of thrust force has not been generalized. So, this paper proposes the modeling, computation method, and measurement system of linear thrust force in HB-type linear pulse motor. As the computation method of thrust force in linear motor is presented and the measurement system is designed, and manufactured, it would be verified that reliability of measurement method and measurement system, considering on and comparing the results of mathematical modeling with measured values of static thrust force and dynamic one.

Review on Application of Biosystem Modeling: Introducing 3 Model-based Approaches in Studying Ca Metabolism

  • Purpose: This review aims at introducing 3 modeling approaches classified into 3 categories based on the purpose (estimation or prediction), structure (linear or non-linear) and phase (steady-state or dynamic-state); 1) statistical approaches, 2) kinetic modeling and 3) mechanistic modeling. We hope that this review can be a useful guide in the model-based approach of calcium metabolism as well as illustrates an application of engineering tools in studying biosystems. Background: The meaning of biosystems has been expanded, including agricultural/food system as well as biological systems like genes, cells and metabolisms. This expansion has required a useful tool for assessing the biosystems and modeling has arisen as a method that satisfies the current inquiry. To suit for the flow of the era, examining the system which is a little bit far from the traditional biosystems may be interesting issue, which can enlarge our insights and provide new ideas for prospective biosystem-researches. Herein, calcium metabolic models reviewed as an example of application of modeling approaches into the biosystems. Review: Calcium is an essential nutrient widely involved in animal and human metabolism including bone mineralization and signaling pathways. For this reason, the calcium metabolic system has been studied in various research fields of academia and industries. To study calcium metabolism, model-based system analyses have been utilized according to the purpose, subject characteristics, metabolic sites of interest, and experimental design. Either individual metabolic pathways or a whole homeostasis has been modeled in a number of studies.

Minimization of Modeling Error of the Linear Motion System with Voice Coil Actuator

  • This paper presents a method for reducing modelling error in the linear motion system with voicecoil actuator (VCA). A model of linear motion system composed of a mechanism and control was prepared to verify the proposed method. In modeling of the system, the damping coefficient obtained experimentally is applied to the model in order to consider the effect of the viscous friction for the moving part in VCA. The response velocity of VCA for duty ratio of PWM signal was analyzed in the time domain. Consequently, the relation between velocity and duty ratio was obtained. The result from the experiment showed an error of 9% when compared with that of simulation. In order to reduce the modeling error, impedance variation according to input frequency was analyzed, and equivalent impedance with multi-frequency was applied to the control part. As a result, the modeling error decreased to 5%.

  • In this paper, we develop a design methodology of granular-based neurocomputing networks realized with the aid of the clustering techniques. The objective of this paper is modeling and evaluation of approximation and generalization capability of the Linear-Type Superconducting Power Supply (LTSPS). In contrast with the plethora of existing approaches, here we promote a development strategy in which a topology of the network is predominantly based upon a collection of information granules formed on a basis of available experimental data. The underlying design tool guiding the development of the granular-based neurocomputing networks revolves around the Fuzzy C-Means (FCM) clustering method and the Radial Basis Function (RBF) neural network. In contrast to "standard" Radial Basis Function neural networks, the output neuron of the network exhibits a certain functional nature as its connections are realized as local linear whose location is determined by the membership values of the input space with the aid of FCM clustering. To modeling and evaluation of performance of the linear-type superconducting power supply using the proposed network, we describe a detailed characteristic of the proposed model using a well-known NASA software project data.

비고정 구간 길이 음향 튜브를 이용한 성도 모델링 (Vocal Tract Modeling with Unfixed Sectionlength Acoustic Tubes(USLAT))

  • Speech production can be viewed as a filtering operation in which a sound source excites a vocal tract filter. The vocal tract is modeled as a chain of cylinders of varying cross-sectional area in linear prediction acoustic tube modeling. In this modeling the most common implementation assumes equal length of tube sections. Therefore, to model complex vocal tract shapes, a large number of tube sections are needed. This paper proposes a new vocal tract model with unfixed sectionlengths, which uses the reduced lattice filter for modeling the vocal tract. This model transforms the lattice filter to reduced structure and the Burg algorithm to modified version. When the conventional and the proposed models are implemented with the same order of linear prediction analysis, the proposed model can produce more accurate results than the conventional one. To implement a system within similar accuracy level, it may be possible to reduce the stages of the lattice filter structure. The proposed model produces the more similar vocal tract shape than the conventional one.
