Control of Industrial processes is very difficult due to nonlinear dynamics, effect of disturbances and modeling errors. M.Morari proposed Internal Model Control(IMC) system that can be effectively applied to the systems with model uncertainties and time delays. The advantage of IMC is their robustness with respect to a model mismatch and disturbances. But it is difficult to apply for nonlinear systems. ANFIS(Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System) which contains multiple linear models as consequent part is used to model nonlinear systems. Generally, the linear parameters in ANFIS can be effectively utilized to control a nonlinear systems. In this paper, we propose new ANFIS-based IMC controller for nonlinear systems. Numerical simulation results show that the proposed control scheme has good performances.

In this study, we introduce an advanced architecture of genetically optimized Hybrid Fuzzy Neural Networks (gHFNN) and develop a comprehensive design methodology supporting their construction. A series of numeric experiments is included to illustrate the performance of the networks. The construction of gHFNN exploits fundamental technologies of Computational Intelligence (CI), namely fuzzy sets, neural networks, and genetic algorithms (GAs). The architecture of the gHFNNs results from a synergistic usage of the genetic optimization-driven hybrid system generated by combining Fuzzy Neural Networks (FNN) with Polynomial Neural Networks (PNN). In this tandem, a FNN supports the formation of the premise part of the rule-based structure of the gHFNN. The consequence part of the gHFNN is designed using PNNs. We distinguish between two types of the linear fuzzy inference rule-based FNN structures showing how this taxonomy depends upon the type of a fuzzy partition of input variables. As to the consequence part of the gHFNN, the development of the PNN dwells on two general optimization mechanisms: the structural optimization is realized via GAs whereas in case of the parametric optimization we proceed with a standard least square method-based learning. To evaluate the performance of the gHFNN, the models are experimented with a representative numerical example. A comparative analysis demonstrates that the proposed gHFNN come with higher accuracy as well as superb predictive capabilities when comparing with other neurofuzzy models.
This paper presents a fuzzy modified PID controller that uses linear fuzzy inference method. In this structure, the proportional and derivative gains vary with the output of the system under control. 2-input PD type fuzzy controller is designed to obtain the varying gains. The proposed fuzzy PID structure maintains the same performance as the general-purpose linear PID controller, and enhances the tracking performance over a wide range of input. Numerical simulations and experimental results show the effectiveness of the fuzzy PID controller in comparison with the conventional PID controller.
In this paper, we design neurofuzzy networks architecture by means of linear fuzzy inference. The proposed neurofuzzy networks are equivalent to linear fuzzy rules, and the structure of these networks is composed of two main substructures, namely premise part and consequence part. The premise part of neurofuzzy networks use fuzzy space partitioning in terms of all variables for considering correlation between input variables. The consequence part is networks constituted as first-order linear form. The consequence part of neurofuzzy networks in general structure(for instance ANFIS networks) consists of nodes with a function that is a linear combination of input variables. But that of the proposed neurofuzzy networks consists of not nodes but networks that are constructed by connection weight and itself correspond to a linear combination of input variables functionally. The connection weights in consequence part are learned by back-propagation algorithm. For the evaluation of proposed neurofuzzy networks. The experimental results include a well-known NASA dataset concerning software cost estimation.

This paper describes the design of fuzzy digital PID controller using simplified indirect inference method. First, the fuzzy digital PID controller is derived from the conventional continuous time linear digital PID controller. Then the fuzzification, control-rule base, and defuzzification using SIM in the design of the fuzzy digital controller are discussed in detail. The resulting controller is a discrete time fuzzy version of the conventional digital PID controller, which has the same linear structure, but are nonlinear functions of the input signals. The proposed controller enhances the self-tuning control capability, particularly when the process to be controlled is nonlinear. When the SIM is applied, the fuzzy inference results can be calculated with splitting fuzzy variables into each action component and are determined as the functional form of corresponding variables. So the proposed method has the capability of the high speed inference and adapting with increasing the number of the fuzzy input variables easily. Computer simulation results have demonstrated the superior to the control performance of the one proposed by D. Misir et al.

In this paper. we present a neuro-fuzzy controller which unifies both fuzzy logic and multi-layered feed forward neural networks. Fuzzy logic provides a means for converting linguistic control knowledge into control actions. On the other hand. feed forward neural networks provide salient features. such as learning and parallelism. In the proposed neuro-fuzzy controller. the parameters of membership functions in the antecedent part of fuzzy inference rules are identified by using the error back propagation algorithm as a learning rule. while the coefficients of the linear combination of input variables in the consequent part are determined by using the least square estimation method. Finally. the effectiveness of the proposed controller is verified through computer simulation for an inverted pole system.

In this study, the Polynomial-based Radial Basis Function Neural Networks is proposed as an one of the recognition part of overall face recognition system that consists of two parts such as the preprocessing part and recognition part. The design methodology and procedure of the proposed pRBFNNs are presented to obtain the solution to high-dimensional pattern recognition problems. In data preprocessing part, Principal Component Analysis(PCA) which is generally used in face recognition, which is useful to express some classes using reduction, since it is effective to maintain the rate of recognition and to reduce the amount of data at the same time. However, because of there of the whole face image, it can not guarantee the detection rate about the change of viewpoint and whole image. Thus, to compensate for the defects, Linear Discriminant Analysis(LDA) is used to enhance the separation of different classes. In this paper, we combine the PCA&LDA algorithm and design the optimized pRBFNNs for recognition module. The proposed pRBFNNs architecture consists of three functional modules such as the condition part, the conclusion part, and the inference part as fuzzy rules formed in 'If-then' format. In the condition part of fuzzy rules, input space is partitioned with Fuzzy C-Means clustering. In the conclusion part of rules, the connection weight of pRBFNNs is represented as two kinds of polynomials such as constant, and linear. The coefficients of connection weight identified with back-propagation using gradient descent method. The output of the pRBFNNs model is obtained by fuzzy inference method in the inference part of fuzzy rules. The essential design parameters (including learning rate, momentum coefficient and fuzzification coefficient) of the networks are optimized by means of Differential Evolution. The proposed pRBFNNs are applied to face image(ex Yale, AT&T) datasets and then demonstrated from the viewpoint of the output performance and recognition rate.

In this study, we propose a space search algorithm (SSA) and then introduce a hybrid optimization of fuzzy inference systems based on SSA and information granulation (IG). In comparison with "conventional" evolutionary algorithms (such as PSO), SSA leads no.t only to better search performance to find global optimization but is also more computationally effective when dealing with the optimization of the fuzzy models. In the hybrid optimization of fuzzy inference system, SSA is exploited to carry out the parametric optimization of the fuzzy model as well as to realize its structural optimization. IG realized with the aid of C-Means clustering helps determine the initial values of the apex parameters of the membership function of fuzzy model. The overall hybrid identification of fuzzy inference systems comes in the form of two optimization mechanisms: structure identification (such as the number of input variables to be used, a specific subset of input variables, the number of membership functions, and polyno.mial type) and parameter identification (viz. the apexes of membership function). The structure identification is developed by SSA and C-Means while the parameter estimation is realized via SSA and a standard least square method. The evaluation of the performance of the proposed model was carried out by using four representative numerical examples such as No.n-linear function, gas furnace, NO.x emission process data, and Mackey-Glass time series. A comparative study of SSA and PSO demonstrates that SSA leads to improved performance both in terms of the quality of the model and the computing time required. The proposed model is also contrasted with the quality of some "conventional" fuzzy models already encountered in the literature.

This paper is studied for the recognition of occluded objects by fuzzy inference. The images are transformed a group of linear line segments, which is formed local features extracted from curvature points, using polygonal approximation. The features extracted from images are representes to the fuzzified data which is mapped into fuzzy concepts to represent the fuzziness, and the recognition of a model from scenes is performed by fuzzy inference using the production rulse which is generated from the model image. It is considered that the recognition results according to the change of degree of fuzziness in the experiments, and the experimental results for 30 scenes contained 120 models is obtained 92.5% of recognition rate.
A fuzzy logic controller with rule modification capability is proposed to overcome the difficulty of obtaining control rules from the human operators. This new SOC algorithm modifies control rules by a fuzzy inference machine utilizing data base. Computer simulation results show good performances on both a linear system and a nonlinear system.
