Linear compressors with a free piston driven by a linear motor are widely attention in the cooling apparatus such as refrigerator due to the high efficiency The stroke of piston in the linear compressor driven by LPMSM (Linear Permanent-Magnet Synchronous Motor) can be obtained from Integrating the input voltage and current of LPMSM, but it may be diverged due to dc components in the voltage and current. The strategy to prevent the divergence of stroke using both the high-pass filter and do offset compensation was suggested. The equations for the magnitude and phase of the stroke and also dc offset including the stroke are derived as a function of the cut-off frequency of HPF. The accurate stroke of a piston can be calculated by compensating for dc offset. The performance of the newly developed stroke calculation scheme has been verified by experimentally on a linear compressor drive system, where the control was implemented by a 16-bit DSP.

In this study, the extractions of formants and articulatory motion trajectories for Korean complex vowels are performed by using the RLSL adaptive linear prediction filter. This enables us to extract accurate spectrum in transition of speech signal. This study shows that the RLSL algorithm is superior to the Levinson algorithm, specially in transition part of speech.
In this paper, a robust receding horizon finite impulse response(FIR) filter is proposed for a class of linear discrete time systems with uncertainty satisfying an integral quadratic constraint. The robust state estimation problem involves constructing the set of all possible states at the current time consistent with given system input, output measurements and the integral quadratic constraint.
This paper proposes a new linear recursive target state estimator for automotive collision warning system. The target motion is modeled in Cartesian coordinate system while the radar measurements such as range, line-of-sight angle and range rate are obtained in polar coordinate system. To solve the problem by nonlinear relation between these two coordinate system, a practical linear filter design scheme employing the predicted line-of-sight Cartesian coordinate system (PLCCS) is proposed. Especially, PLCCS can effectively incorporate range rate measurements into target tracking system. It is known that the utilization of range rate measurements enables the improvement of target tracking performance. Moreover, PLCCS based target tracking system is implemented by linear recursive filter structure and hence is more suitable scheme for the development of reliable collision warning system. The performance of the proposed method is demonstrated by computer simulations.
A linear input/output data-based predictive control with integral action is developed. The control input is obtained directly from the input/output data in a single step. However, the state estimation in subspace identification gives a biased estimate and there is model mismatch when the controller is applied to a nonlinear process. To overcome such difficulties, we add integral action to a linear input/output data-based predictive controller by augmenting the integrated white noise disturbance model and use each of best linear unbiased estimation(BLUE) filter and Kalman filter as a stochastic observer for the unmeasured disturbance. When applied to a continuous styrene polymerization reactor the proposed controller demonstrates.

In this work the dynamics of an electromagnetic levitation system is described by a set of three first order nonlinear ordinary differential equations. The objective is to design a digital linear controller which takes the inherent instability of the uncontrolled system and the disturbing force into consideration. The controller is made by employing digital linear quadratic(LQ) design methodology and the unknown state variables are estimated by the kalman filter. The state estimation is performed using not only an air gap sensor but also both an air gap sensor and a piezoelectric accelerometer. The design scheme resulted in a digital linear controller having good stability and performance robustness in spite of various modelling errors. In case of using both a gap sensor and an accelerometer for the state estimation, the control input was rather stable than that in a system with gap sensor only and the controller dealt with the disturbing force more effectively.

Most of the loads in industrial power distribution systems are balanced and connected to three wires power systems. However, in the user power distribution systems, most of the loads are single & three phase and unbalanced, generating a large amount of non-characteristic harmonics. With the advent of power electronics and proliferation of non-linear loads in industrial power applications, power harmonics and their effects on power quality are a topic of concern. Harmonics by the unbalance voltage and non-linear loads, cause the increase of machine loss and heating. In order to allow current harmonic compensation, a filter must be installed. This paper describes the performance of passive filter under the voltage unbalance and non-linear load.

Blood flow is one of vital signals related to human physiological information. Photoplethysmograph (PPG) has been used to measure indirectly heart rate, blood oxygen saturation ($SpO_2$), and so on. Because PPG signal is weak and sensitive to motion artifacts, it is very important to continuously obtain stable PPG signal during free movement. In this study, we applied the scaled Fourier linear combiner (SFLC) using both the adaptive filter and FLC to remove effectively the motion artifacts as well as background noise in the real time without additional signal correlated with motion from a accelerometer. The proposed method would be useful to reduce the movement and background noise which are not synchronized with heart rate.

In this paper, a new interference rejection filter using the data-recycling technique is presented. The reference signal of the interference rejection filter is formed by using chip decisions, which is correlated with the narrowband interference components of the received signal. The decision feedback techniques reduce the distortion of the desired signal, which is introduced by the interference rejection filter through he use of feedback chip decisions. In order to update the filter coefficients a simple and efficient data-recycling technique that has improved performance over the conventional LMS algorithm is used. The performance of the proposed interference rejection filter is compared to filter with conventional LMS linear filter. The results show that the convergence speed of the proposed interference rejection filter using decision feedback and data-recycling technique is significantly faster than that of the conventional filters. Also, BER performance of the interference rejection filter demonstrates the superiority of the proposed filter algorithm.
