쿨롬 법칙과 영상법을 이용한 와전류 브레이크의 제동토크 해석 (The Braking Torque Analysis of Eddy Current Brake with the Use of Coulomb′s law and the Method of Image)

  • Since the eddy current problem usually depends on the geometry of the moving conductive sheet and the shape of the pole projection area, there is no general method to find out its analytical solution. The analysis of the eddy current in a rotating disk is performed in the case of time-invariant field to find its analytical solution. As a method to solve the eddy current problem, the concept of the Coulomb charge and image method are proposed with the consideration of the boundary condition. Firstly, the line charge is obtained from the volume charge generated in the rotating disk and Coulomb's law is applied. Secondly, the finite disk radius is considered by introducing an imaginary eddy current to satisfy the boundary condition that the radial component of the eddy current is zero at the edge of the relating disk. Thirdly, the braking torque is calculated by applying Lorentz force law. Finally, the computed braking torque is compared with the measured one As a result, it can be said that the proposed model presents fairly accurate results in a low angular velocity range although a large error is observed as the angular velocity of the disk increases.

Solution method for the classical beam theory using differential quadrature

  • In this paper, a unified solution method is presented for the classical beam theory. In Strength of Materials approach, the geometry, material properties and load system are known and related with the unknowns of forces, moments, slopes and deformations by applying a classical differential analysis in addition to equilibrium, constitutive, and kinematic laws. All these relations are expressed in a unified formulation for the classical beam theory. In the special case of simple beams, a system of four linear ordinary differential equations of first order represents the general mechanical behaviour of a straight beam. These equations are solved using the numerical differential quadrature method (DQM). The application of DQM has the advantages of mathematical consistency and conceptual simplicity. The numerical procedure is simple and gives clear understanding. This systematic way of obtaining influence line, bending moment, shear force diagrams and deformed shape for the beams with geometric and load discontinuities has been discussed in this paper. Buckling loads and natural frequencies of any beam prismatic or non-prismatic with any type of support conditions can be evaluated with ease.

Effects of plasmaspheric density structure on the characteristics of geomagnetic ULF pulsations

  • The structure of plasmasphere plays an important role in determining properties of geomagnetic ULF pulsations such as Pi 2 pulsations and field line resonances (FLRs) in the Earth's magnetosphere. We have performed a 3-D MHD wave simulation to investigate the generation and propagation of ULF waves in dipole geometry. Various 3-D density structures are assumed, which include a relatively sharp density gradient and gradually less slopes at the plasmapause. The former condition can refer to the plasmasphere from local midnight to dawn, whereas the latter represents the region near noon to dusk where it bulges out. We show how Pi 2 pulsations and FLRs differentially appear at both multi-point satellite locations and ground stations for different local times. Our results suggest that 1) the local radial density structure significantly affects the peak frequencies for Pi 2 oscillations, while the polarization changes remain similar in the radial direction, and 2) the radial location of strong FLRs varies for different density profiles. It is also suggested how multi satellite measurements and ground-based observations can confirm this differential feature in space.

최적선형개발에 대한 기초연구 (Fundamental Study for the Development of an Optimum Hull Form)

  • Fundamental Study for optimizing ship hull form using SQP(sequential quadratic programming) method in a resistance point of view is presented. The Wigley hull is used as an initial hull and numerical calculations are carried out according to various froude numbers. To obtain the ship resistance the wave resistance is evaluated by a Rankine source panel method with nonlinear free surface conditions and the ITTC 1957 friction line is used to predict the frictional resistance coefficient. The geometry of a hull surface is represented and modified by B-spline surface patch. The displacement and the waterplane transverse 2nd moment of inertia of the hull is fixed during the optimization process. And the shp design program called EzHULL is used to draw the lines of the optimized hull form to perform the model test.

초기 거리오차 보상 피동 거리 추정 필터 (A Passive Ranging Filter with Initial Range Error Compensation)

  • 본 논문에서는 jammer를 향하여 호밍하는 대함 유도탄에 대하여 적용할 수 있는 피동 거리추정필터를 제안하였다. 최근의 jammer는 상당히 먼 거리에서 jamming이 가능하므로, 제안된 필터는 필터 초기치 오차가 큰 경우에도 이를 신속히 제거하고 잘 동작할 수 있도록 설계되었다. 함대함 유도탄의 경우, 표적에 비하여 유도탄의 운동이 훨씬 주도적이므로 교전상황은 상대거리와 시선변화율을 상태변수로 하는 2차 시스템으로 모델링이 가능하다. 본 논문에서는 이와같은 2차 모델에 근거한 확장칼만필터를 구성하고, 최소자승법을 이용한 초기치 오차 추정 알고리듬을 부가함으로써 새로운 피동 거리추정필터를 유도하였다. 제안된 필터는 필터의 초기치 오차가 상당히 큰 경우에도 적은 계산량으로 우수한 거리추정성능을 보여주었다.

  • This paper describes a simple real-time monitoring system for use in measurement subsystem of contact wire and geometry of overhead contact wire in electric railway. The system has been consists of a high speed CMOS camera with resolution $1024\;{\times}\;1280$ pixels, line type laser source with a power equal to 300 mW, and PC-based image acquisition system with PCI Express slot. National instrument LabVIEW (8.0) and vision acquisition software have been used in application programming interface for image acquisition, display, and storage with a frequency of sampling of 500 acquisitions per second.

용접선 자동추적시 용접전류 신호처리 기법에 관한 연구 (A Study on Signal Processing Method for Welding Current in Automatic Weld Seam Tracking System)

  • The horizontal fillet welding is prevalently used in heavy and ship building industries to fabricate the large scale structures. A deep understanding of the horizontal fillet welding process is restricted, because the phenomena occurring in welding are very complex and highly non-linear characteristics. To achieve the satisfactory weld bead geometry in robot welding system, the seam tracking algorithm should be reliable. The number of seam tracker was developed for arc welding automation by now. Among these seam tracker, the arc sensor is prevalently used in industrial robot welding system because of its low cost and flexibility. However, the accuracy of arc sensor would be decreased due to the electrical noise and metal transfer. In this study, the signal processing algorithm based on the neural network was implemented to enhance the reliability of measured welding current signals. Moreover, the seam tracking algorithm in conjunction with the signal processing algorithm was implemented to trace the center of weld line. It was revealed that the neural network could be effectively used to predict the welding current signal at the end of weaving.

잔류응력의 표면파손과 마멸에 대한 영향 (The Effect of Residual Stresses on Surface Failure and Wear)

  • Break-in is an intentional treatment to enhance the performance life of machinery parts and to maintain static friction behavior. Most studies on break-in have concerned only about surface conditions such as roughness or film formation. But the exact mechanism of break-in has not been found yet. Friction, scuffing behavior and wear of AISI 1045 were studied in relation to break-in and residual stress. The cylinder-on-disk type tribometer was used with the line-contact geometry. Scuffing tests were carried out using a constant load of 730N. In the break-in procedure the step load was applied from 100N to 200N. In this experiment, it was found that the break-in helps compressive residual stress to be formed well enough to enhance the scuffing life during the scuffing test. Specimens that had high compressive residual stress induced by shot-peening show better wear resistance than those were not shot-peened. Results of scuffing test, break-in procedure and wear amount in relation to residual stress have been discussed.

차체 사이드 패널 조립을 위한 디지털 레이저용접 셀 구현 (Implementation of Digital Laser Welding Cell for Car Side Panel Assembly)

  • Because of the turbulent markets and the increasing demand on product quality, the application of new technology to practice is increasingly important. In case of automotive industries, they take interest in laser welding to solve these problems because laser welding has many advantages such as good accessibility, welding quality, fast welding speed and so on. To apply this technology to welding of car body, the data of laser welding are collected through lots of the experiment according to the material, geometry and layer number of welding points. Based on the experiment results and the information of product, i.e. the car side panel, the clustering of stitches for laser welding was carried out and the optimal equipments are selected through the comparison between the requirements of welding and the potential of equipments. Using these results, laser welding cell for the car side panel are configured with the concept of the digital manufacturing, which ensures maximum planning security with visualization and simulation. Finally, the optimal laser welding cell is chosen by the evaluation of alternative cells with assessment criteria.

빌릿 마킹 공정의 자동화를 위한 마킹 위치 인식 방법 (Perception Method of the Marking Location for Automation of Billet Marking Processes)

  • The machine vision has been applied to a number of industrial applications for quality control and automations to improve the manufacturing processes. In this paper, the automation system using the machine vision is developed, which is applicable to the marking process in a steel production process line. The working environment is very harsh to workers so that the automatic system in the steel industry is required increasingly. The developed automatic marking system consists of several mechanical and electrical elements such as the laser position detecting sensor system fur a structured laser beam which is projected to the billet in order to detect the geometry of the billet. An image processing algorithm has been developed to percept the two center positions of a camera and a billet, respectively, and to align two centers. A series of experiments has been conducted to investigate the performance of the proposed algorithm. The results show that two centers of the camera and the billet could be detected very well and differences between two center positions could be also decreased via the proposed location error decreasing algorithm.
