  • This paper presents a new two-terminal numerical algorithm for fault location estimation using the synchronized phasor in time-domain. The proposed algorithm is also based on the synchronized voltage and current phasor measured from the PMUs (Phasor Measurement Units) installed at both ends of the transmission lines. In this paper, the algorithm is given without shunt capacitance and with shunt capacitance using II -model and estimated using DFT (Discrete Fourier Transform) and LES (Least Error Squares Method). The algorithm uses a very short data window and classification for real-time transmission line protection. To verify the validity of the proposed algorithm, the Electro-Magnetic Transient Program (EMTP) and MATLAB are used.

  • The fairly recent standard of equipping mobile devices with advanced imaging sensors has opened the possibility of conveniently diagnosing skin conditions, anywhere, anytime. For this application, we attempted to estimate skin conditions from a skin image taken by a mobile handheld camera. To estimate the skin conditions, we specifically identified three skin features (pigmentation, pores, and roughness) that can be measured quantitatively from a skin image. The experimental data indicate that the existing thresholding methods are inappropriate for extracting the pigmentation and pore skin features. Thus, we propose a new line-fitting based thresholding method for skin feature detection. We thoroughly evaluated our proposed skin condition estimation method using our skin image database. The experimental results show that our proposed thresholding method can better determine the threshold leading to the most visually plausible detection, when compared to existing methods. We also confirmed that skin conditions can be feasibly estimated using a common mobile handheld camera (for example, a smartphone).

  • In this paper, we propose a method for estimating the pose of the camera using a rectangle feature utilized for the visual SLAM. A warped rectangle feature as a quadrilateral in the image by the perspective transformation is reconstructed by the Coupled Line Camera algorithm. In order to fully reconstruct a rectangle in the real world coordinate, the distance between the features and the camera is needed. The distance in the real world coordinate can be measured by using a stereo camera. Using properties of the line camera, the physical size of the rectangle feature can be induced from the distance. The correspondence between the quadrilateral in the image and the rectangle in the real world coordinate can restore the relative pose between the camera and the feature through obtaining the homography. In order to evaluate the performance, we analyzed the result of proposed method with its reference pose in Gazebo robot simulator.

  • In the induction motor control, the rotator flux estimation methods are used in the implement vector control of the induction motor instead of the potentical-meter or tacho-meter, a system is very sensitive in noise. In this paper, the parameters that do not affect the stablity of the system were applied in Off-Line tuning methods. In case of the rotator resistor that is sensitive. On-Line tuning methods applied in the steady state. We ascertained that the utility of a theory applied in stator flux orientation vector control through the simulation.

  • In this paper, the induction motor rotor fault diagnosis system using current signals, which are measured using axis-transformation method, and speed, which is estimated using current information, are presented. In inverter-fed motor drives unlike line-driven motor drives the stator currents have numerous harmonics components and therefore fault diagnosis using stator currents is very difficult. The current and speed signal for rotor fault diagnosis needs to be precise. Also, high resolution information, which means the diagnosis system, demands additional hardware such as low pass filter, high resolution ADC, encoder and etc. Therefore, the proposed axis-transformation and speed estimation method are expected to contribute to low cost fault diagnosis systems in inverter-fed motor drives without the need for an encoder and any additional hardware. In order to confirm validity of the developed algorithms, various experiments for rotor faults are tested and the line current spectrum of each faulty situation using Park transformation and speed estimation method are compared with the results obtained from fast Fourier transforms.

  • This paper presents a method for real-time estimation of TCSC quantity in order to enhance the power system transient stability energy margin using fuzzy neural network in multi-machine system. This paper has two parts, the first part is to estimate the energy margin. To set critical energy, we use the potential energy boundary surface(PEBS) method which one of the transient energy function(TEF) method. And the second is to determine the TCSC quantify and the line to be injected. In order to make training data in this step, we use genetic algorithm. The proposed method is applied to 6-bus, 7-line, 4-machine model system to show its effectiveness.

  • This paper presents to generate 3D building model using estimation of rooftop surface after 3D line segment extraction using hybrid stereo matching techniques in terms of the co-operation of area-based stereo and feature-based stereo. we first performed a junction extraction from 3D line segment data which was obtained by stereo images, and finally generated building's reliable rooftop surface model using LSE(Least Square Error) method after creating surfaces by grouped and fixed junction points. we generated synthetic images for experimentation by photo-realistic simulation on Avenches data set of Ascona aerial images.

  • This paper proposes an estimation method for a circulating current of a Y-${\Delta}$ Transformer. The delta winding current can be decomposed into the two components i.e. a non-circulating component and a circulating component. The former can be estimated using the line currents. However, the latter can not be estimated directly using the line currents. A first order differential equation for the circulating current is derived by applying the Kirchhoff's voltage law on the loop of the delta side. The circulating current can be estimated by the solving the differential equation. The performance of the proposed algorithm is investigated under various conditions including magnetic inrush and over-excitation. The algorithm can estimate the circulating current very accurately even under magnetic inrush and over-excitation.

  • This paper presents the fault location estimation algorithm in transmission line using a recursive least square error method (RLSE). To minimize the computational burden of the digital relay a RLSE approach is used. Computer simulation results of the RLSE algorithm seem promising, indicating that it should be considered for further testing and evaluation.

  • This paper presents a method for on-line estimation of rotor time constant of induction motor. The proposed method applies a model reference adaptive system(MRAS) using rotor flux vector. The MRAS consists of two independent observers to estimate the rotor flux vector; one based on voltage equations of rotor flux vector, the other based on current equations of them. The MRAS utilizes concept of auxiliary variables to normalize observer output and decrease high-frequency components of its input. Experimental results verify the validity and usefulness of proposed method
