Target Object Detection Based on Robust Feature Extraction (강인한 특징 추출에 기반한 대상물체 검출)

  • Detecting target objects robustly in natural environments is a difficult problem in the computer vision and image processing areas. This paper suggests a method of robustly detecting target objects in the environments where reflection exists. The suggested algorithm first captures scenes with a stereo camera and extracts the line and corner features representing the target objects. This method then eliminates the reflected features among the extracted ones using a homographic transform. Subsequently, the method robustly detects the target objects by clustering only real features. The experimental results showed that the suggested algorithm effectively detects the target objects in reflection environments rather than existing algorithms.

  • The CGO (Chip on Glass) to be measured a few micro unit is captured by line scan camera for the accuracy of chip inspection. But it is very sensitive to scan speed and lighting conditions. In this paper, we propose the methods to increase the accuracy of faulty detection by image subtraction. Image subtraction is detected faultiness by subtracting the image of a ' perfect ' COG from trot of the sample under tests. For image subtraction to be successful, the two images must be pre챠sely registered The two images is registered by the area segmentation pattern matching, and the result image get by operating the gradient mask image and the image to practice subtraction. A series of experimentation showed that the proposed algorithm shows substantial improvement over the other image subtraction methods.

A Fast Algorithm for Korean Text Extraction and Segmentation from Subway Signboard Images Utilizing Smartphone Sensors

  • We present a fast algorithm for Korean text extraction and segmentation from subway signboards using smart phone sensors in order to minimize computational time and memory usage. The algorithm can be used as preprocessing steps for optical character recognition (OCR): binarization, text location, and segmentation. An image of a signboard captured by smart phone camera while holding smart phone by an arbitrary angle is rotated by the detected angle, as if the image was taken by holding a smart phone horizontally. Binarization is only performed once on the subset of connected components instead of the whole image area, resulting in a large reduction in computational time. Text location is guided by user's marker-line placed over the region of interest in binarized image via smart phone touch screen. Then, text segmentation utilizes the data of connected components received in the binarization step, and cuts the string into individual images for designated characters. The resulting data could be used as OCR input, hence solving the most difficult part of OCR on text area included in natural scene images. The experimental results showed that the binarization algorithm of our method is 3.5 and 3.7 times faster than Niblack and Sauvola adaptive-thresholding algorithms, respectively. In addition, our method achieved better quality than other methods.

  • Recently, the computer vision has been applied to many automation fields. Especially, this paper presents a maritime traffic detection system using computer vision since the high level information can be obtained using obtained area information. The high level informations are obtained such as speed, queueing length, queueing time, ship size, and ship kind. To get ship speed, the two detection lines are set on the predetermined screen position. The speed is obtained the passing time and the predetermined distance between the first and second detection line on the screen. Also, queueing length and time are gotten using screen position of ship. Furthermore, the size and kind of ship are calculated using the ship database and camera calibration data. This developed system contributes to reduce the traffic accidents on the coast. Futhermore, the more information can be extracted using obtained area information.

  • In the multi-pass welding of pressure vessels or ships, the mechanical touch sensor system is generally used together with a manipulator to measure the gap and depth of the narrow gap to perform seam tracking. Unfortunately, such mechanical touch sensors may commit measuring errors caused by the eterioration of the measuring device. An automation system of narrow gap multi-pass welding using a laser vision system which can track the seam line of narrow gap and which can control welding power has been developed. The joint profile of the narrow gap, with 250mm depth and 28mm width, can be captured by laser vision camera. The image is then processed for defining tracking positions of the torch during welding. Then, the real-time correction of lateral and vertical position of the torch can be done by the laser vision system. The adaptive control of welding conditions like welding Currents and welding speeds, can also be performed by the laser vision system, which cannot be done by conventional mechanical touch systems. The developed automation system will be adopted to reduce the idle time of welders, which happens frequently in conventional long welding processes, and to improve the reliability of the weld quality as well.

  • In this Paper we discuss an algorithm for a real-time transmission of moving color image on the TCP/IP network using wavelet transform and neural network. The Image frames received from the camera are two-level wavelet-transformed in the server, and are transmitted to the client on the network. Then, the client performs the inverse wavelet-transform using only the received pieces of each image frame within the prescribed time limit to display the moving images. When the TCP/IP network is busy, only a fraction of each image frame will be delivered. When the line is free, the whole frame of each image will be transferred to the client. The receiver warns the sender of the condition of traffic congestion in the network by sending a special short frame for this specific purpose. The sender can respond to this information of warning by simply reducing the data rate which is adjusted with a neural network or fuzzy logic. In this way we can send a stream of moving images adaptively adjusting to the network traffic condition.

Fabrication of High Sensitive Photoconductive Multilayer Using Se,As and Te and its Application (Se, As 및 Te를 이용한 고감도 다층 광도전막의 제작 및 그 응용)

  • The photoconductive multilayer of Se-As(hole blocking layer)/Se-As-Te (photoconductive layer) /Se-As (layer for supporiting hole transport)/Se-As(layer or controlling total capacitance)/Sb2S3(electron blocking layer) was fabricated and its electrical and optical properties were investigated. The photoconductive multilayer is made of evaporated a-Se as the base material, doped with As and Te to prevent the crystallization of a-Se and to enhance red sensitivity, respectively. The multilayer with good image reproducibility has the following deposition condition. The first layer has the thickness of 250\ulcornerat the deposition rate of 250\ulcornersec. The second layer has the thickness of 800\ulcornerat the deposition rate of 250\ulcornersec. The third layer has the thickness of 125\ulcornerat the deposition rate of 250\ulcornersec. The fourth layer has the thickness of 1700\ulcornerunder the Ar gas ambient of 50x10**-3torr. The image pick-up tube, employing this multilayer demonstrates the following characteristics. The photosensitivity is 0.8, the resolution limit is above 300TV line, and the decay lag is about 7%. And spectral response convers the whole visible range. Therfore the application to color TV camera is expected.

Considerable Differences of Body Surface Area in the Preparation of Bicycle Wear (싸이클웨어의 패턴개발을 위한 체표면 변화에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to seek the change of body surface according to cycling motions and to give suggestions to the pattern and spare space between body and wear in each bodily parts to be heavily considered for making the bicycle wear. The cycling motions were analyzed by taking the sequential pictures of cycling covering motion by a digital camera. The experiments with gypsum were toward a woman in her twenties. We draw the line standard of the body's surface, separated their gypsum-replicated fragments of body's surface following the analyses of the change in their lengths. As the motions were made, we decided the degree of the changed length as spare space when compared the erected posture with the cycling posture, presenting the pattern of the cycling wear with the preparation of wears for testing. After that, the essential experiments were conducted toward three cycle players wore our experimental wears. Regards their evaluated appearance, evaluations over three points were obtained from all parameters except the width of front armhole. Accordingly, our experimental wears were remarkably understood as a relatively proper wear as bicycle wear.

  • Relating to grasping sequential landscape characteristics in consideration of the behavioral characteristics of the subject experiencing visual perception, this study was made on the subject of main walking line section for visitors of three treasures of Buddhist temples. Especially, as a method of obtaining data for grasping sequential visual perception landscape, the researcher employed [momentum sequential viewpoint setup] according to [the interval of pointers arbitrarily] and fisheye-lens-camera photography using the obtained omni-directional angle visual perception information. As a result, in terms of viewpoint selection, factors like approach road form, change in circulation axis, change in the ground surface level, appearance of objects, etc. were verified to make effect, and among these, approach road form and circulation axis change turned out to be the greatest influences. In addition, as a result of reviewing the effectiveness via the subjects, for the sake of qualitative evaluation of landscape components using the VR picture image obtained in the process of acquiring omni-directional angle visual perception information, a positive result over certain values was earned in terms of panoramic vision, scene reproduction, three-dimensional perspective, etc. This convinces us of the possibility to activate the qualitative evaluation of omni-directional angle picture information and the study of landscape through it henceforth.

An implementation of the automatic labeling rolling-coil using robot vision system (로봇 시각 장치를 이용한 압연코일의 라벨링 자동화 구현)

  • In this study an automatic rolling-coil labeling system using robot vision system and peripheral mechanism is proposed and implemented, which instead of the manual labor to attach labels Rolling-coils in a steel mill. The binary image process for the image processing is performed with the threshold, and the contour line is converted to the binary gradient which detects the discontinuous variation of brightness of rolling-coils. The moments invariant algorithm proposed by Hu is used to make it easy to recognize even when the position of the center are different from the trained data. The position error compensation algorithm of six degrees of freedom industrial robot manipulator is also developed and the data of the position of the center rolling-coils, which is obtained by floor mount camera, are transferred by asynchronous communication method. Therefore, even if the position of center is changed, robot moves to the position of center and performs the labeling work successfully. Therefore, this system can be improved the safety and efficiency.
