Single step electrodeposition of $Cu_2ZnSnS_4$ (CZTS) for solar cell applications was studied using an aqueous thiocyanate based electrolyte. The sodium thiocyanate complexing agent was found to decrease the difference in the deposition potential of the elements. X-ray diffraction analysis of the samples indicates the formation of kesterite phase CZTS. UV-vis studies reveal the band gap of the deposits to be in the range of 1.2 - 1.5 eV. The thickness of the deposit was found to decrease with increase in pH of the electrolyte. Nearly stoichiometric composition was obtained for CZTS films coated at pH 2 and 2.5. I-V characterization of the film with indium tin oxide (ITO) substrate in the presence and the absence of light source indicate that the resistance decrease significantly in the presence of light indicating suitability of the deposits for solar cell applications. Results of electrochemical impedance spectroscopic studies reveal that the cathodic process for sulfur reduction is the slowest among all the elements.

An off-axis zone plate is able to focus on a single order while neglecting the zeroth order in a visible imaging system. This allows one to enhance the contrast quality in diffractive images, which is the major advantage of this type of zone plate. However, most previous reflection zone plates are used in focusing X-rays with a small grazing incident angle and are intricately designed with the use of a local grating period. In this study, we suggest the design of an off-axis elliptical zone plate (EZP) that is used to focus a monochromatic light beam with separation between the first and unfocused orders under a large grazing incident angle of 45°. An assumption using the total grating period, which depends on the average and constant grating period, is proposed to calculate the desired distance between the first and zeroth order and to simplify the construction of a novel model off-center EZP. Four diffractive optical elements (DOEs) with different parameters were subsequently fabricated by direct laser lithography and then verified using a performance evaluation system to compare the results from the assumption with the experimental results.

Carbon fiber(CF) with excellent thermal conductivity and electrical conductivity is attracting attention as an alternative material because metal heating elements have problems such as high heat loss and fire risk. However, since CF is oxidized and disconnected at about 200℃ or higher, the application of heating elements is limited, and CF heating elements in the form of vacuum tubes are currently used in some commercial heaters. In this work, polyimide(PI) with high heat resistance was coated on the surface of carbon fiber by electrophoretic deposition to prevent oxidation of CF in the atmosphere without using a vacuum tube, and the coating thickness and heat resistance were investigated according to the applied voltage. The heater made by connecting the PI-coated CF heating elements in series showed stable heating characteristics up to 292℃, which was similar to the heating temperature result of the heat transfer simulation. The PI layer coated by the electrophoretic deposition method is effective in preventing oxidation of CF at 200℃ or higher and is expected to be applicable to various heating components such as secondary batteries, aerospace, and electric vehicles that require heat stability.
One of the fundamental elements in developing mixed reality applications is to effectively analyze and apply the environmental lighting information to image synthesis. In particular, interactive applications require to process dynamically varying lighting sources in real-time, reflecting them properly in rendering results. Previous related works are not often appropriate for this because they are usually designed to synthesize photorealistic images, generating too many, often exponentially increasing, light sources or having too heavy a computational complexity. In this paper, we present a fast light source estimation technique that aims to search for primary light sources on the fly from a sequence of video images taken by a camera equipped with a fisheye lens. In contrast to previous methods, our technique can adust the number of found light sources approximately to the size that a user specifies. Thus, it can be effectively used in Phong-illumination-model-based direct illumination or soft shadow generation through light sampling over area lights.
The purpose of this study was to examine satisfactory of users and actual condition in the postpartum care center. This study focused on the private room for postpartum mothers. Data were collected through questionnaire survey including observations and interviews. The subjects of this subjects study were 240 postpartom mothers. The interviews were carried out from March 8th. 2003. to March 29nd. 2003 The data were analyzed by using SPSS-Win. The major results of this study were as follows: 1) The ambient elements such as noise, ventilation, and natural light should be considered primarily for the postpartum mother rooms. 2) The functional elements such as the size of the room, window, toliet are important factor of the satisfaction for users

High-resolution spectroscopic observations of the eclipsing binary system RR Lyn were made using the 1.8 m telescope at the Bohuynsan Optical Astronomical Observatory in Korea. The spectral resolving power was R = 82,000, with a signal to noise ratio of S/N > 150. We found the effective temperatures and surface gravities of the primary and secondary components to be equal to $T_{eff}$ = 7,920 & 7,210 K and log(g) = 3.80 & 4.16, respectively. The abundances of 34 and 17 different chemical elements were found in the atmospheric components. Correlations between the derived abundances with condensation temperatures and the second ionization potentials of these elements are discussed. The primary component is a typical metallic line star with the abundances of light and iron group elements close to solar values, while elements with atomic numbers Z > 30 are overabundant by 0.5-1.5 dex with respect to solar values. The secondary component is a ${\lambda}$ Boo type star. In this type of stars, CNO abundances are close to solar values, while the abundance pattern shows a negative correlation with condensation temperatures.
Radionuclide X-ray fluorescence analysis is a method, which has many advantages for analysing various historic artefacts, as it is relatively cheap, sensitive and non-destructive, and it allows measurements in-situ. However, this analysis has also certain limitations especially concerning sensitivity to chemical elements only, irrespective of the compounds or chemical forms in which these elements have been bonded. In addition, light elements emitting very soft X-rays cannot be measured, and in order to detect a wide range of elements, it is necessary to carry out repeated measurements with different radiation sources. Despite these limitations, valuable information can be obtained about the composition of historic materials and data about the origin and age of these artefacts can be derived. Analyses of wall paintings, ancient metal sculptures or other objects of art provide the basis for historic considerations documented in our results for some objects belonging to the Czech cultural heritage. The results are promising. Thus it is expected that our laboratory will expand its work into more fields of the fine and applied arts.

This study aims to suggest basic materials to develop an emotional font for future Hangeul font development plan by investigating emotional reaction displayed through the subjects and by quantifying its contribution of the stimulation elements causing such reaction. For this, a survey of 150 university students who are currently enrolled in the College of Design was conducted in order to analyze correlation between 30 emotional words extracted from the Hangeul font and the selected 36 sample fonts. The combined data was described with the two dimensional dispersion using the quantification theory type III. The analysis found out that the Hangeul font forms the x-axis showing "soft(dynamic).hard(static)" and the y-axis showing "modern(light).classic(heavy)”. Specifically, there exist emotional groups such as "archaic","masculine","feminine","negative", and "modern static"on each axis. In addition, to extract the casual relationship between the value of emotional reaction and its stimulation elements quantitatively, the author indicated the emotional words of each axis and the total value of equivalent five emotional word groups as the standard variance and the constituent of Hangeul font as the independent variable, and then the quantification theory type I was used to analyze the physical elements of the Hangeul font. As a result, "the centerline of gravity(base line)" and "thickness variance of a stroke" on the two axes, and "the centerline of gravity(base line)" and "decoration" among the five groups were identified as the most influential elements that affect the emotional reaction of the subjects.

The control of the deformative behaviour of pre-stressed concrete roof elements for a satisfactory service performance is a main issue of their structural design. Slender light-weight wing-shaped roof elements, typical of the European heritage, are particularly sensitive to this problem. The paper presents the results of deformation measurements during storage and of both torsional-flexural and purely flexural load tests carried out on a full-scale 40.5 m long innovative wing-shaped roof element. An element-based simplified integral procedure that de-couples the evolution of the deflection profile with the progressive shortening of the beam is adopted to catch the experimental visco-elastic behaviour of the element and the predictions are compared with normative close-form solutions. A linear 3D fem model is developed to investigate the torsional-flexural behaviour of the member. A mechanical non-linear beam model is used to predict the purely flexural behaviour of the roof member in the pre- and post-cracking phases and to validate the loss prediction of the adopted procedure. Both experimental and numerical results highlight that the adopted analysis method is viable and sound for an accurate simulation of the service behaviour of precast roof elements.
The final aim of the present study is to build a system of converting a color image into musical elements based on a synesthetic perception, emulating human synesthetic skills, which make it possible to associate a color image with a specific sound. This can be done on the basis of the similarities between physical frequency information of both light and sound. As a first step, an input true color image is converted into hue, saturation, and intensity domains based on a color model conversion theory. In the next step, musical elements including note, octave, loudness, and duration are extracted from each domain of the HSI color model. A fundamental frequency (F0) is then extracted from both hue and intensity histograms. The loudness and duration are extracted from both intensity and saturation histograms, respectively. In experiments, the proposed system on the conversion of a color image into musical elements was implemented using standard C and Microsoft Visual C++(ver. 6.0). Through the proposed system, the extracted musical elements were synthesized to finally generate a sound source in a WAV file format. The simulation results revealed that the musical elements, which were extracted from an input RGB color image, reflected in its output sound signals.
