Purpose: This study was to prepare the basic data for prevention of colorectal cancer and protection against its spread. Method: The subjects for the study were 204 patients with colorectal cancer from the G.S. wards of five general hospitals in Busan for the period of June 1 to September 1, 2001. The instrument used was a questionaire which was developed by Junho Shin(1995). The data was analyzed by descriptive statistics, McNemar test, ${\chi}^2$ test, paired t-test, and ANOVA. Result: 1. 57% of the studied subjects were male, 42.7% were more than 60 years old, 54.9% were of standard physique, 49.5% were the Buddhists, 50.5% were the middle or high school graduates, 83.8% were city dwellers, 48% were jobless, 69.6% had no-history of alimentary disease, 44.1% had no-family history of cancer, 82.8% were married. 2. Constipation (${\chi}^2=36.45$, p=0.0001) in clients showed a significant positive association for the prediagnosed, but diarrhea(${\chi}^2=3.947$, p=0.047) showed a significant positive association for the post-diagnosed. The preference for high seasonings(t=6.23, p=0.0001) and animal fat (t=8.35, p=0.0001) was higher significantly in the pre-diagnosed, but physical activities(${\chi}^2=30.22$, p=0.0001), an eutrophic or tonic medicine(${\chi}^2=30.22$, p=0.0001), was of and vegetables(t=-6.20, p=0.0001) was higher significantly in the post-diagnosed. 3. There were significant differences in the life style of the pre-diagnosed according to the general characteristics except religion. Conclusion: Results of the above study reveal we should be very sensitive to the change of defecation styles and consider the necessity of improving life styles as regards eating habits. When an education program is developed, the general characteristics of the subjects need to be considered.
The purpose of this study was to determine the leading causes of choosing to be single through in-depth interview. In the study I applied Hermeneutic Phenology to clarify the relationship between the past experiences and values of the subjects. I analyzed the leading causes that have drawn them to stay single, and the gender differences on the two subjects. The causes of being single were divided into two categories; personal factors and socio-environmental factors. The personal factors were standard value by birth order, expectation from parents, overcoming economic difficulty, and lack of interest toward the opposite sex. The socio-environmental factors were achievement at work, and ease of living. Staving single is not a special way of life. As found in the study, the cause of being single is not determined at birth, but rather results from being raised to be single in a way. The main cause of being single was basically based on the environment in which they were raised including parents' attitudes, economic situation, and sibling order We are living in a society of diversity. Being and staying single is a personal choice, that is one aspect of diversity. Therefore we need to widen our vision to accept the single life as one of the normal life styles and one for special treatment. We have to approve of other people's life styles as long as of causes no harm for the development of society. On the other hand, we need to be more serious about the family itself and having family. Finally I think we need to develop various family programs targeted at a diverse range of families rather than only at the normal family.

This study was undertaken to investigate the relationship between the life style and the nutritional status of serum antioxidant vitamins and lipids in university male and female students. 48 male and 49 female students attending Andong university, aged between 18 and 25 years, were selected. Questions about the life styles including dietary intakes, food habits, smoking, drinking alcohol, exercise, stress were answered. And serum levels of antioxidant vitamins and lipids were determined. Average serum levels of total cholesterol, LDL C, HDL C, and triglyceride in male and female subjects were 158.6$\pm$32.7, 177.3$\pm$33.8; 86.4$\pm$26.0, 109.0$\pm$31.2; 46.0$\pm$10.7, 49.9$\pm$12.4; 131.2$\pm$22.5, 91.7$\pm$ 38.6mg/dl respectively. Average serum levels of antioxidant vitamin A, E and C in male and female subjects were 42.6$\pm$12.3, 31.4$\pm$9.8 g/dl, 1.11$\pm$0.38, 1.15$\pm$0.29mg/dl and 164.66 $\pm$65.01, 220.06$\pm$80.11 g/dl respectively. There was no significant difference between smoking habits and either serum lipids or antioxidant vitamins level. The serum vitamin C level of drinkers was significantly lower(p=0.038), but serum lipids(total cholesterol, LDL C, and triglyceride) were higher than non alcoholic subjects. The subjects with severe stress had lower in HDL C and higher in atherogenic index than others. This result indicates that oxidative stress may be increased in stressful environment from undesirable life styles and influence the status of serum lipid and antioxidant vitamins.

In spite of the efforts to reduce traffic accidents of commercial vehicles, the number of driving under the influence (DUI) of commercial drivers has been increasing. This study examines the effect of stress coping style of commercial drivers on driving behaviors. Specifically, this research aims to find the role of life stress as a mediator in the relationships between the stress coping style and problematic drinking behaviors. 1308 licensed commercial vehicle drivers participated in this research. Results showed that life stress mediated the relationships between problem focused strategies, wishful thinking strategies, passive avoidance strategies and problematic drinking behaviors. These findings indicate that educating drivers to change their stress coping styles would be helpful to inhibit them from being involved in drunken driving.
This paper is intended to find out how much the university students in the Kyung-book area recognize Korean traditional foods and what their attitudes toward the seasonal manners and customs are, and to analyze the differences according to their life styles. The average recognition of 27 kinds of Korean traditional foods is found to be 2.17 in general, 2.00 with male students and 2.34 with female students, which figures are thought to be low. The recognition of female students is significantly higher than that of male students. 94.4% of the subjects for this study wish traditional foods to be handed down. The reasons for handing them don are Korean unique culture, which is the highest (78.4%), good nutrition(7.2%) and good taste(14.5%). No student points to low price as a reason, which shows that university students think traditional foods more expensive than western foods. There is a positive correlation(p<0.05) between the evaluations and uses of traditional foods, so those with high evaluations of them use them more. The recognition of traditional foods is positively correlated to the attitudes toward the seasonal manners and customs, monthly family income(p<0.01) and mothers' educational levels(p<0.05). Based on life styles, the individuality-centered type shows the highest recognition of traditional foods(2.39), while the leisure-valuing type shows the lowest(2.03). There is a significant difference between the two.

Art Nouveau started from the purpose of making art young by reforming art. Rising in revolt against historical style imitation, Art Nouveau was a movement that demanded modern and trend-fitting styles which were embracing general revolution of life and surrounding environment. In jewelry, new styles were tried to be constructed too, breaking from previous styles. Together with new trial of materials, fine jewelry that technical skills of master craftsmen were emphasized on were shown. Styles of Art Nouveau had been diversely developed, fitting to culture of each country in the whole Europe. They were the bases of styles after the 20th century. Jewelry after Art Nouveau repeated development by being divided into industrial and artistic jewelry. They have influenced on a lot of development until modern times. Art Nouveau led jewelry to the establishment of artistic worth, exceeding the worth of goods. There is a difference between aesthetic jewelry expressed through diverse formativeness of Art Nouveau and modern jewelry designs centered on simple precious jewelry which is biased toward productivity and functionality. This is a study that examines the fashion changes in the 20th century in terms of various subcultures in the period. Starting from defining the concept and the developing process of subculture, this study traces the history of subcultural styles from 1930s to 1990s, focusing on the way each generation resisted the main stream through its styles. This study is intended to provide a theoretical frame on the understanding of subcultural styles, with a close examination of its formative and developing process and characteristics. This study understands subcultural style as a way of deviate or resistant expression within a society. It differentiates itself from the main style by deliberately and publicly asserting its own identity, and, as a result, realizes in the form of fashion its repressed subconsciousness, resistance to the alienation from the society, and deviation from the normative ethics and morality of a society. The four types of subcultural styles presented in chapter 4 are based on their form of resistance, and they are classified and analyzed as follows: The first type is revision, which tries to revise and change the given form by adding new elements. There are two kinds of revision, one is dressing up, which dresses for success, and the other is minimal dressing. Hyperbole is the second type, which resists by emphasizing or hyperbolizing the main stream with its erotic, nihilistic, or dynamic forms. Two kinds of hyperbole are examined, one is hyperbole of masculinity, and the other is ostentatious hyperbole. The third type is reversal and rejection, which reverses the forms from the established sign system into its own secret code, or rejects the traditional taboos. This type include no dressing, and the reversal of sex identity. Isolation and redrawal is the fourth type, which tries to distance itself from the ritual code of the day. This type is divided into dressing of the escape from time, and dressing of the escape from space. The first group of this type is characterized by nostalgia or futurism. An emphasis is given on ethnicity, naturalism, or a closed space within a city in dressing of the escape from space. In conclusion, it can be said that subcultural style puts the foremost importance on individual freedom. Since 1990s, the distinction between the subcultural styles and high fashion gets somewhat blurred, while the liberal, sexual, life stylistic tension between the two groups are heightened.
