This study presents the discourse for academic generation of 'School Library Education Science' based on integrative research between library & information science and education science. The study discusses research fields and themes of 'School Library Education Science' as the base to define the roles of the school library and of teacher-librarians. It contributes to upgrading the research level of the school library. The research field in the school library analyzes and integrates both aspects of library & information science and of education science. The developed theories of 'School Library Education Science' present Library-Based Education and Library-Based Learning, Base Connectionism, Base Integrationism, Top456 Approach, Curriculum-Based Approach, Viewpoint Approach, and Education of Information and the Library as a Subject Matter. The trends in research of the school library analyze the thesis numbers of academic journals. The future research challenges of 'School Library Education Science' discuss the educational basics of the school library, operational management, electronic school libraries, and educational activities. Conclusively, this study analyzes the current situation of the school library & of teacher-librarians in Korea, and provides its solution by the aspects of 'School Library Education Science'.

The National Department of Education approved the 'Information and Library' 'Curriculum which contained the educational role of school libraries. This curriculum contained and integrated the library guidance, reading education and cooperative instruction that teacher-librarians have taught. The school education has basically been led, based on curriculum. Therefore, it is important to have all kinds of educational activities related to the school library approved as school curriculum. This study is to introduce Base Connectionism, Base Integrationism, Top 456 Approach, and Curriculum-Based Approach, based on 'Information and Library' curriculum.

Open education is a worldwide movement to overcome educational barriers based on digital technology. It is necessary to discuss how to carry out the educational function of the library in the increasingly widespread open education environment. This study examines the concept and components of open education, and proposes an approach to how the library performs educational functions in an open education environment. The results of this study will serve as a guide in setting the role and direction for the library to become the subject of the implementation and spread of open education from the perspective of the library's educational function.

Education is an intentional change of human behaviors. This change is implemented through the learning process of humans. The principles in the learning process and its psychological mechanism are based on learning theories. The objective insight about how they are related with school libraries as a basic organization supporting school education, what they can contribute and what their research methodologies are is a base for educational and academic research of school libraries. This study at first is to investigate learning and teaching theories for school libraries based on behavioral learning theories, cognitive learning theories and constructive learning theories which are general trends for learning theories. Then it is to introduce new theory 'library-based education approach (LBEA)'as an educational base of school libraries.

In the society of lifelong learning, a school library has to play an important educational role in improving self-directed learning ability that school education is seeking. The purpose of this study is to re-approach the concept of data literacy, to describe the differences with other literacies along with the redefined concept of data literacy. Also, it is tried to find out why and how to use data literacy for library and information services. Research has shown that data literacy plays a central role in interacting with other literacy concepts, and should be understood as a data-driven problem-solving ability that is essential for the future human society. Based on these concept definitions, we propose the application of data literacy to library information service in terms of education service and research support service. In this study, data literacy is defined as the ability to utilize data needed by users in a data - based society, is to explain why data literacy is the ability to utilize data for users in modern society by distinguishing differences from other literacy. This concludes with a discussion and proposal on what library information services can be implemented.

Background : I investigated clinical research methodology of Traditional Korean Medicine(TKM) for treatment of lung cancer with Evidence Based Medicine(EBM) approach. Methods : I conducted the internet search of National Central Library, the National Assembly Library, Korea Education & Research Information Service, Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information for Korean theses and papers, and MEDLINE for the outside articles. Conclusion : In addition to outcomes of clinical trial, abundant clinician's experience and patients' preference are also considered. Pragmatic trials and quasi-experimental trials are better than clinical trials to plan clinical design of TKM for lung cancer and appropriate endpoints includes overall survival, disease-free survival, patient reporting outcome.

This study is to propose the directions of LGBTQ Friendly Library policies based on LGBTQ's human rights. To accomplish this purpose, this study comparatively analyzed key concepts from UN UDHR, ALA LBR, and IFLA statements up to scholarly library-articles related to LGBTQ with the inductive approach for qualitative data analysis. The result suggests the 7 directions of the library services policy-making for LGBTQ in practice : 1) Recommendations on the enhancement of the LGBTQ's human rights and library obligations, 2) Enforcement of librarians' education and training on LGBTQ subject matters, 3) Convergency on the various LGBTQ's information needs and the enlargement of library collections, 4) Development of search instruments on LGBTQ, 5) Secure library moods and no-distinctive use of its accommodations, 6) Cooperation system with NGO on LGBTQ, 7) Care and support on children and young adults experienced with LGBTQ.

In 2010 there are 759 public libraries in Korea, and they have been increased constantly for the recent four to five years. In order to make them as cultural spaces in local communities, Korean government is now planning to increase the number of public libraries up to 900 and to build small to medium-sized multiple purpose libraries rather than large and single purpose ones. Especially in the case of public libraries in metropolitan cities, which are main libraries in those areas, they should be designed to play major functions of cultural experience, exhibition, and life-long education as well as to meet the basic needs of providing books for public reading and of building and developing branch libraries based on local characteristics. Above all, in order to make a public library as a center of local culture, a space planning focused on increasing utilization and satisfaction of the residents is required. It is essential to conduct a survey to understand the needs of the residential users and reflect their opinions. In this regard, our research process was constructed as follows. First, precedent studies on a certain densely populated area were reviewed. Second, a survey was conducted in Ulsan city to figure out the needs and the satisfaction level of the actual users. The purpose of this study is to propose a better space planning approach for public libraries in metropolitan cities based on the analysis.

A number of studies have emphasized the importance and values of reading in character education. However, there is no tool or framework for developing character education program. If teacher librarian to develop a character education program by reading should be preceded the framework for a comprehensive and systematic approach. The framework for character education program by reading is required to develop a program. The framework must be considered with a character factor and reading elements. The purpose of this study is to establish a framework that will help teacher librarian to develop a character education program by reading. This study analyzed on construction elements of character, reading material for character education, reading strategies, teaching methods. Then, this study propose a framework for developing character education program based on the analysis information. The proposed framework in this study consists of construction elements of character, reading material for character education, reading strategies, teaching methods.
