오늘날 대학도서관은 공룡의 화신 내지 예산의 블랙홀로 인식되고 있다. 그럼에도 불구하고 대학 도서관은 디지털시대의 다양한 학술정보를 수집·보존하고 이용시키는 주체가 되어야 한다. 이것은 실물자료의 소장패러다임과 전자출판물의 접근패러다임을 동시에 수용하고 강화해야 한다는 의미이다. 이처럼 대학의 예산부담과 도서관의 기능강화 사이의 간극을 좁히려면 총체적 평가작업이 선행되어야 하고, 그 요체는 평가지표의 개발이다. 그래서 본 연구는 대학도서관 평가지표 또는 성과지표 (척도)의 다의성을 체계적으로 고찰하고, 그 바람직한 지향성을 모색하였다.

Research performance evaluation in Korean universities follows strict guidelines that specify scoring systems for publication venue categories and formulas for co-authorship credit allocation. To find out how the standards differ across universities and how they differ from bibliometric research evaluation measures, this study analyzed 25 standards from major Korean universities and rankings produced by applying standards and bibliometric measures such as publication and citation counts, normalized impact score, and h-index to the publication data of 195 tenure-track professors of library and information science departments in 35 Korean universities. The study also introduced a novel impact score normalization method to refine the methodology from prior studies. The results showed the university standards to be mostly similar to one another but quite different from citation-driven measures, which suggests the standards are not quite successful in quantifying the quality of research as originally intended.

The purposes of this study are to confirm the applicability of the unobtrusive evaluation to Korean libraries, to develop survey forms, check lists and evaluation criteria appropriate for Korean libraries, to analyze the relationship between the test variables and the performance level, to find out the causes of poor service if any, and to propose measures for improving the quality of reference services. The main results of the analyses are as follows : $\cdot$ The accuracy of answers was correlated to appropriateness of search process, way of providing answer, usage of language, approachability and use of second materials in the order named. That is, there was a strong correlation between accuracy and the variables related to librarian's behavior. $\cdot$ There was no statistically significant relationship between accuracy and the environmental aspects of reference department such as number of professional librarians, self-evaluation of reference collection, etc. $\cdot$ The main reasons for failing to give accurate answers were found to be weaknesses in understanding questions. developing search strategy logically and relating the querries to available information sources.

We investigated how bibliometric indicators such as publication count and citation count affect the assessment of research performance by computing various bibliometric scores of the works of Korean LIS faculty members and comparing the rankings by those scores. For the study data, we used the publication and citation data of 159 tenure-track faculty members of Library and Information Science departments in 34 Korean universities. The study results showed correlation between publication count and citation count for authors with many publications but the opposite evidence for authors with few publications. The study results suggest that as authors publish more and more work, citations to their work tend to increase along with publication count. However, for junior faculty members who have not yet accumulated enough publications, citations to their work are of great importance in assessing their research performance. The study data also showed that there are marked differences in the magnitude of citations between papers published in Korean journals and papers published in international journals.

연구 경쟁력이 대학의 미래이자 국가의 미래이다. 본 연구는 대학도서관이 연구성과분석 서비스를 도입하여 수행하고자 할때 고려사항을 제시하고 분석 솔루션의 선택 가이드라인을 제안하기 위함이다. 본 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위하여 6개의 대학도서관 업무 담당자를 인터뷰하였고 4개의 연구성과분석 솔루션을 비교하였다. 인터뷰 내용에는 서비스 추진 배경, 서비스 내용, 구독 솔루션, 서비스 제공범위 및 제공방법 등이 포함되어 있다. 분석 대상으로 선택된 연구성과분석 솔루션은 InCite, SciVal, RIMS 그리고 Scholytics이다. 4개의 솔루션을 분석한 결과 대부분의 소프트웨어가 연구성과분석 서비스 업무를 수행하는 데 필요한 기능을 가지고 있으며 일반적으로 분석 목적에 따라 솔루션을 구독하는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구 결과는 대학도서관에서 연구성과분석 서비스를 수행하기 위한 참고자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

본 연구의 목적은 도서관에서 벤치마킹 기법을 도입ㆍ활용할 때 선행적으로 요구되는 벤치마킹 기법의 개념, 수행절차, 적합 모형 등에 관한 이론적 고찰과 국내ㆍ외 도서관 적용 사례를 분석하여 도서관의 벤치마킹 성공요소를 제시하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 도서관 현장에서 벤치마킹 기법을 활용할 때 참고가 될 것이며 후속 연구를 위한 기초로서 활용될 것이다.

Efficient use of scientific and technical information is indispensable for research and development. This study is aimed at new system design of Agricultural Information for RDA Library operation by an expeditious system for appropriate support of research activities through information service. Current Library management factors such as organization, budget, collections, staff. space, and information service was surveyed and user's requirements was also evaluated. In order of optimize the information system performance the new designed system was suggested as follows : 1) Existing dispersed library functions have to be unified as a whole 2) Library could be reorganize as a independent unit 3) Construction of inter-library network between libraries engaged in the same field highly recommand for the exchange of information.

이 연구는 우리 나라 마을문고 운동의 형성 배경에서부터 1967년까지의 초기 전개과정을 규명해 보고자 한 연구이다. 1961년부터 전국 농어촌 마을에 문고를 보급하기 시작한 이 운동의 추진원칙과 문고설치 및 육성 방침을 분석하고, 이 운동 전개에 필요한 재정조달 과정 및 당시 문고운동의 성과를 평가해 봄으로써 1960년대의 초기 마을문고 운동 전개 과정을 조명하였다.

This paper briefly elucidates the journey of Library and Information Science (LIS) journals published from India since 1912-2016. The study explores that 196 LIS journals have been produced in India during the past 11 decades covering the period from 1912-2016. The states namely New Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and West Bengal have contributed significantly andNew Delhi emerges as the most productive city among the others regarding the production of LIS journals. The study reveals that out of total 196 journals, 15 have been indexed in the University Grants Commission Academic Performance Indicators List and 41 have found their place in national and international indexing and abstracting sources.

이 연구는 필자들의 선행연구로 이미 제시되었던 공공도서관 평가지표에 대해 도서관 관리층과 사서직은 물론 이용자들이 생각하는 중요성에 대한 인지도를 비교, 분석하였다. 전국의 공공도서관을 무선표집하여 설문 조사하였는데, 분석된 결과는 공공도서관 평가작업을 위한 지표선정 및 가중치 부여 등의 기초자료로 활용할 수 있을 것이다.
