The changes of university entrance system which is affecting public library management and services, and current situation of private education market were analyzed for this study. It was revealed that we have several competitive forces that determine library service justification in Korean service environment(market) which has not experienced in the developed countries. The elements of private education may drive competition in the book reading service industry. Such elements effectuate serious problems and discourage library service marketing to the user. For a sustainable competitive advantage, English language collection and reading program model was developed for library marketing strategies(as applying leverage).

The aim of this study is to propose the effective management plan for (New) Library at International Science Business Belt in Korea. For this purpose, this study analyzed cases of domestic and overseas libraries which have been providing the special Science Business Service. Also user questionnaire surveys were conducted for the user demand in (New) Library. Based on case studies and user surveys, the management plan for ISBL was suggested as follow with its division into five realms; that is, information resources and special programs, manpower, space facilities, internal cooperation and international network. The research could be used as basic resources for the International Science Business Library in Korea.

This study reports the result of the survey on collection management from 154 school libraries in Korea. The questionnaire is consisted of three section: state of collection, state of book use, and collection management system. Results reveal that (1) elementary schools and middle schools have many books for each student compared to the KLA's School Library Standards; (2) the component ratio of literature books is the biggest in school library collections; (3) the ratio of library book use is overwhelmingly higher in elementary schools than middle schools and high schools; (4) 64.6 percent of library books in the sample are never used during 2013-2015; (5) 74 percent of libraries have its own collection management document; (6) Almost all schools compose its own committee for library management, the committee plays an important roles in the communication among school members, collection development and promotion.

In order to solve the problems of the digital library's Interoperability and integrated management, we analyzed core technologies for interoperability in digital library in terms of information creation, organization, service. And then we proposed information technology reference model that is composed of 7 scopes. The proposed scope included 1)Metadata Management, 2)Library Services, 3)Service Integration 4)Service Management, 5)Open Interface, 6)Network, 7)Architecture. Those results can be used as a framework for developing interoperable digital library system.

The purpose of this study is to investigate private university libray directors' managerial roles and their views on university library management. Data were collected by sending questionnaires to 103 library directors of member libraries of Korean Private University Library Association. Overall managerial viewpoints of library directors were analyzed, and hypothesis were tested to prove the relationship between director's professionalism and their managerial style. The importance of university library directors' role and responsibility were emphasized, and the necessity of entrusting library directors with professional knowledge were suggested.

Information technology. computers, networks, and the World Wide Web are ubiquitous. Academic libraries have applied information technology over the last ten years. The traditional role of the library as the scholarly information heart of the university is being questioned as information technology makes Information ever more easily accessible. And the recent technological development may alter the fundamental concept or identity of the academic library in the twenty-first century. This paper examines the ways in which information technology have chanced the academic library over the last decades and deals with the logical interrelation of 'information technology' and 'management' in the context of academic libraries in Korea. The purpose of this paper is to analyse the impacts of information technology on academic library management (organizational structure. librarian's job and role. budget allocation and expenditures, space planning and functionality, collection paradigm, user service, academic entity, etc) and suggests a desirable acceptance attitudes and efficient management acceptance attitude and management.

The user satisfaction and needs of an academic library were caught through a questionnaire survey in this study. The aim of this study is to draw up the CRM based plan for meeting user needs on the study. The users' demographic information, library resources & their use, homepage, services, and facilities/environment of the library were categorized in the questionnaire and analyzed for this study. The major conclusions of this study are: (1) The library resources use was the highest, and its facilities/environment was the lowest in the user satisfaction study. It also revealed that there are much necessities for the quick acquisition and dissemination of the requested material to the library users, and for the inter-library loan (ILL) services among campuses for the subscription books in the library resources use study, too; (2) There are a lot of necessities for the improvement of OPAC retrieval and the subscription books system, and menu rearrangement in the library homepage; (3) There are a lot of necessities for the plans of more frequent library event, more detailed event guidance, and more reinforcement of public relations such as SMS, push services of SDI etc. in the library user services; and (4) There are a lot of necessities for the improved policies to the complaints of library users such as the lack of common study place and lockers, air conditioning and heating problem, complaints about facilities management of restroom (lack of toilet paper), library accessibility on campus, unauthorized user management etc. in the facilities/environment of the library.

This article examines how to improve military library services by evaluating management and performance of 160 Korean military libraries in 2011. Results indicated that the average performance rate in entire areas was 59.4%. The 'facility' area and 'inter-library cooperation' area showed high performance rates (79.2% and 71.0% respectively). On the other hand, the 'strategic management plan' area and 'support' area showed relatively low performance rates (28.3% and 33.0% respectively). Results concluded that a strong commitment for strategic planning and execution by the authorities is required to enhance military library services in the future. Also, the implications of annual evaluation on military libraries should be taken accounted for improvement plans and ultimately lead to the establishment of revitalization policies for military library services.

This study is aimed at the status analysis and formulation of directions for the library and information science as part of major study area for the education and training of archivist. For this purpose, this study analyzed curricular of library and information science department of 35 four year universities all over Korea and the changes in the curricular of records management area and reviewed and analyzed the library and information science professors's articles of records management area which were published in 7 journals for the purpose of their publication trend. It was found out that the study trend of the record management area, as part of library and information science, was influenced by the new study fields, the increase in subject opening, founding of academic societies and publication of new journal, enactment and amendment of disciplinary character of studies, etc. Based on this, the necessity for opening of new records management courses, interdisciplinary research, investigation of records management education and researches of other study fields were proposed.

This study purposes to identify how the 'selection' of library materials shold be changed in the electronic environment to improve library services fundamentally. The study scrutinized the essence of selection, the relationship between selection and collection management, and the results of various studies to define the selection. The study implies: 1) the selection must be changed to the function providing users with assessment information of library materials, which helps the users access to entire scholarly information. 2) the assessment information could be input from different libraries and used by all users connected to the library network.
