  • We suggest the modified computing algorithm for raking ratio estimation under the assumption that the population total is partially known, and the sample total is completely known about survey variable in contingency table. We show that the proposed estimation procedure is useful to estimate the population cell count in this situation through an empirical study.

  • In this paper, We propose the feature-based 3D model Retrieval System. 3D models are represented as triangle meshes. A first simple feature vector can be calculated from hull. After looking for meshes intersected with the hull, we compute the curvature of meshes. These curvature are used as the model descriptor.

  • This paper presents Reflectance Transformation Imaging (RTI) as a tool to support the study of paintings and authentication. Manufacturing techniques of the artist are reviewed through the comparison between liberal perspectives and digital imaging techniques. In this study, RTI was applied to focus on the detailed textural information of eight paintings by Korean artist Lee Ji-ho. The RTI result visualizes shallow reliefs of brush strokes and different mediums on the surface technically enhanced through imaging filters, and these morphological textures on the surface act as a key factor in understanding the characteristics of the artist. The surface morphology and art criticism work as qualitative indicators to analyze the change of artistic techniques through time, and the usage of different mediums. The results of this study confirm that the RTI technique can be used as an analysis device in the study of paintings.

  • The idea that medicine itself imposes certain obligations upon the physician probably originated in Greece. It is Socrates in the fifth century BC who first discussed medical professionalism. Socrates said that no physician should seek the advantage of the physician but of the patient. For the physician was a ruler of bodies and not a money-maker. However, it is Hippocrates, the contemporary of Socrates and the Father of Medicine, who founded medical professionalism education and professional medical ethics. The professional spirit of Greek physicians is summed up in the magic phrase 'love of humanity.' In Epidemics I, Hippocrates expressed hope that physicians would help patients, or at least do them no harm. He also said, "Life is short; Art is long" in The Aphorisms. Here he described the reflective philosopher and the practiced physician. At once he sang the shortness of human life and the extent of the medical arts. Moreover, he made students swear by the gods that "I will keep pure and holy both my life and my art." The Oath can serve as a coherent starting point and organizing framework for medical professionalism education and professional medical ethics. We need to have an opportunity to employ this fascinating text in teaching medical professionalism and medical ethics. In this article, the author asserts that the Hippocratic Aphorism (Life is short; Art is long) and The Oath, the most famous work of the entire Hippocratic collection, should be used for medical professionalism education.

  • Communication of art and the expansion of roles are some of the important discourses of art. For a while, many attempts were made to overcome the enjoyment of art by only a few elites and the alienation of roles. In the meanwhile, due to its formative nature, media art has contributed to the various expansion of roles as a familiar art in society and by communicating with the public in various play contents and industrial context. This study will take a step further and examined whether media art can assess and be used in social issues through the characteristic analysis of 'media art information visualization.' The general field of information visualization only focuses on the clarity of information delivery, so it is effective for intuitively identifying various information. However, stiff visual expression must improve user-friendly functions in an era in which users' sensibility is increasing, and it only focuses on the effectiveness of information delivery that its secondary social problem such as personal information protection must be compensated. Thus, this research analyze the characteristics of case works to examine how the visualization of media art information can approach social problems creatively, seek the expansion of the role of art and compensate the areas that general information visualization is missing.

  • This study was to investigate high school students' philosophical views on science and positions of constructivists; Popper, Lakatos, Toulmin, and Kuhn. The results of this study were as follows: First, most students had the eclectic position(69%): similar percentages in sex(male 67%, female 75%), stream(liberal art 72%, science 74%), and of having experience on reading books or magazines related to the philosophy of science(ever 78%, never 64%). Second, in analysis of ANDVA of science philosphical perspectives by experience of reading books, magazines, and matters related to the philosophy of science, significant difference was revealed(p<.01). Students who had ever heard of or read about the philosophy of science were tend to have Empiricism. Third, ANDVA analysis of constructivist philosphical perspectives showed that male students were nearer to Kuhn's position than female(p<.05) and students in science stream were closer to Popper than in liberal art(p<.05). And male students in science party showed a great tendency to consent Popper's perspective(p<.01). This result seems to suggest that male students tended to think social aspects more deeply than female and held Kuhn's position.

  • The research was conducted based on the 1012 cases questionnaire for the purpose of to evaluate the change effect of university student's consciousness and behavior before and after lecture on environmental problems. And this questionnaires were performed with self-administered by the university student who made a application for liberal arts related to environmental subjects. The results were as follows. According to the analysis results the most students responded that the most serious problem of environmental pollution before the lecture on environmental education was a genetic modified organism(3.64/4.00), but the most serious problem of environmental pollution was changed to the topic of water pollution(3.96/4.00) after the lecture on environmental problem. And also according to the analysis results dributed by gender were that boy students show a higher concerning(170%) than that of girl students(150%). The most good results obtained after lecture on environmental problem were water pollution(23.0%), air pollution(11.5%), waste material pollution(10.9%), food additives (10.0%), genetic modified organism(8.0%), endocrine disrupter(7.5%), respectively. And according to the analysis results distributed by a grade were that the concerning of a low grade(freshman, sophomore)were higher than that of a high grade(junior, senior) in the topic of water pollution, air pollution, waste material pollution. But there were high level of awareness on the topic of food additives, genetic modified organism, endocrine disrupter to the all students(freshman to senior). And according to the analysis results distributed by a major field of study were that students who major in art & athletics, liberal art and etc(public health) were show a deep concerning than that of science & engineering. Finally, the environmental education during the university class were effectively contribute to increase the awareness of the seriousness of environmental pollution problem(8.2%) and also contribute to the practical life after class also increase their consciousness of environmental problem(59.8%).
