Comparative Differential Expressions of Porcine Satellite Cell during Adipogenesis, Myogenesis, and Osteoblastogenesis

  • Satellite cells were derived from muscular tissue in postnatal pig. Satellite cell is an important to growth and development in animal tissues or organs. However, the progress underlying induced differentiation is not clear. The aim of this study was to evaluate the morphologic and the transcriptome changes in porcine satellite cell (PSC) treated with insulin, rosiglitazone, or dexamethasone respectively. PSC was obtained from postnatal muscle tissue. In study 1, for study the effect of insulin and FBS on the differentiated satellite cells, cells were cultured at absence or presence of insulin treated with FBS. Total RNA was extracted for determining the expression levels of myogenic PAX3, PAX7, Myf5, MyoD, and myogenin genes by real-time PCR. Myogenic genes decreased expression levels of mRNA in treated with insulin. In study 2, in order to clarify the relationship between rosiglitazone and lipid in differentiated satellite cells, we further examined the effect of FBS on lipid accumulation in the presence or absence of the rosiglitazone and lipid. Significant differences were observed between rosiglitazone and lipid by FBS. The mRNA of FABP4 and $PPAR{\gamma}$ increased in rosiglitazone treatment. In study 3, we examined the effect of dexamethasone on osteogenic differentiation in PSC. The mRNA was increased osteoblasotgenic ALP and ON genes treated with dexamethasone in 2% FBS. Dexamethasone induces osteoblastogenesis in differentiated PSC. Taken together, in differentiated PSCs, FABP4 and $PPAR{\gamma}$ increased to rosiglitazone. Whereas, no differences to FBS and lipid. These results were not comparable with previous reports. Our results suggest that adipogenic, myogenic, and osteoblastogenic could be isolated from porcine skeletal muscle, and identify culture conditions which optimize proliferation and differentiation formation of PSC.

  • 본 연구는 시력 보호에 효과가 있는 것으로 알려진 기능성 물질인 루테인을 산란계 사료 내 첨가 급여 하여 난황 내루테인 함량에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 그 결과, 산란계의 생산성에 있어서는 처리구간 유의적인 차이가 없었으나, 난황 색깔에 있어서는 루테인 2 ppm을 첨가 급여할 경우 난황색이 짙어지는 것으로 나타났다. 난황 내 루테인 함량에 있어서도 2 ppm을 첨가 급여할 경우 유의적인 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서, 이상의 결과를 종합해 볼 때 루테인 강화 계란 생산을 위해서는 산란계 사료 내 루테인 함유물질을 첨가 급여할 경우 원물보다는 추출물을 이용하는 것이 효과적인 것으로 나타났다.

  • Globalization and the development of technology have turned creativity into a necessity. Numerous countries consider creativity to be the major model of economic development. In this era of the knowledge-based economy, creativity is becoming a catalyst for the development of millions of people around the world. Irina Bokova, the former Director General of UNESCO, has stated that the cultural and creative industries have a capital of 2 250 billion US dollars, almost 30 million jobs worldwide in the economies of advanced countries and developing countries (Cultural Times, 2015). Copyright is a branch of intellectual property with a wider scope, forasmuch as it applies to every product of literary, scientific and artistic works in all forms of expression, relating to certain levels of originality.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a data base system for the information on research and development of science education. As the first step of this study and development, a classification system for the research and development materials was devised after discussing the process of science education and the research and development of science education. The classification system has nine main categories : 1. area, 2. subject, 3. behavior, 4. skill, 5. support, 6. type, 7. materials, 8. language, and 9. the others, each of which has one or two levels of subcategory. This classification system was revised and supplemented through the theoretical analysis by speci.diSts and the practical classification of master's theses and doctoral dissertations from the Department of Science Education, Seoul National University. But it still needs more revision and enlargement through the continuous application and analysis.

INSTRUMENTATION AND CONTROL STRATEGIES FOR AN INTEGRAL PRESSURIZED WATER REACTOR

  • Several vendors have recently been actively pursuing the development of integral pressurized water reactors (iPWRs) that range in power levels from small to large reactors. Integral reactors have the features of minimum vessel penetrations, passive heat removal after reactor shutdown, and modular construction that allow fast plant integration and a secure fuel cycle. The features of an integral reactor limit the options for placing control and safety system instruments. The development of instrumentation and control (I&C) strategies for a large 1,000 MWe iPWR is described. Reactor system modeling-which includes reactor core dynamics, primary heat exchanger, and the steam flashing drum-is an important part of I&C development and validation, and thereby consolidates the overall implementation for a large iPWR. The results of simulation models, control development, and instrumentation features illustrate the systematic approach that is applicable to integral light water reactors.

Effects of phytoestrogen on sexual development

  • Phytoestrogen is an estrogenic compound that occurs naturally in plants. The most common sources of phytoestrogen are soybean products, which contain high levels of isoflavones. This compound, which has structural similarity with estrogen, can act as an estrogen receptor agonist or antagonist. Animal studies provide evidence of the significant effects of phytoestrogen on sexual development, including altered pubertal timing, impaired estrous cycling and ovarian function, and altered hypothalamus and pituitary functions. Although human studies examining the effects of phytoestrogen on sexual development are extremely limited, the results of some studies agree with those of the animal studies. In this paper, we review the possible mechanism of phytoestrogen action and the evidence showing the effects of phytoestrogen on sexual development in animal and human studies.

  • The objectives of this study were 1) to investigate the important items affecting the farmers' education system, 2) to estimate their influences on the farmers' education and 3) to present the development directions of farmers education under the changing circumstances of localization. The major or results and implications were as follows. 1. The important items of farmers education were authority in organizing the agricultural extension agency, personnel management, finance, and inspection and audit. 2. The development directions of farmers education were such views as differenti-ation of educational functions of various levels extension organizations, extensionists' competence, developing programs corresponding with farmers needs, participation of farmers, and expanding the educational opportunity for urban-ites and the old generation, etc.

섬유의류기업의 기술개발전략, 마케팅역량, 지식관리역량, 기업성과간의 관계 (Relationships among Technology Development Strategy, Marketing Competence, Knowledge Management Competence, and Company Performance of Textile and Clothing Companies)

  • The purpose of this study was to explore relationships among technology development strategy, marketing competence, knowledge management competence, and company performance of textile and clothing companies. Survey data collected from 187 employees in the textile and clothing companies were analyzed by descriptive statistics, factor analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis. In results, certain levels of correlations were found among technological development strategy, marketing competence, knowledge management competence, and company performance. Specifically, technological gap which was one of the technology development strategy factors was a variable significantly affecting innovation performance and financial performance of textile and clothing companies. Knowledge management competence affected innovation performance whereas marketing competence affected financial competence of textile and clothing companies.

암모니아수(水) 처리가 소콕시디아 오시스트 포자형성(胞子形成)에 미치는 영향(影響) (Effects of ammonia water on sporulation of coccidial oocysts originated from bovine)

  • Effects of ammonia water on the spornlation of coccidial oocysts collected from bovine feces were studied with particular reference to the various levels of ammonia water (1% to 10%) for 30 minute conservation at room temperature. The sporulation rates showed a negative linear coorelation according to the treatment leavels of ammonia water, 85.3% at 1% level to 8.9% at 10% level. The optimum level of ammonia concentration was regarded as 5% to 10% with more than 80% of sporulation inhibition effect.

Response and transcriptional regulation of rice SUMOylation system during development and stress conditions

  • Modification of proteins by the reversible covalent addition of the small ubiquitin like modifier (SUMO) protein has important consequences affecting target protein stability, sub-cellular localization, and protein-protein interactions. SUMOylation involves a cascade of enzymatic reactions, which resembles the process of ubiquitination. In this study, we characterized the SUMOylation system from an important crop plant, rice, and show that it responds to cold, salt and ABA stress conditions on a protein level via the accumulation of SUMOylated proteins. We also characterized the transcriptional regulation of individual SUMOylation cascade components during stress and development. During stress conditions, majority of the SUMO cascade components are transcriptionally down regulated. SUMO conjugate proteins and SUMO cascade component transcripts accumulated differentially in various tissues during plant development with highest levels in reproductive tissues. Taken together, these data suggest a role for SUMOylation in rice development and stress responses.
